China Garden Chinese Restaurant
We have a fully licensed bar and a capacity of 150, offering the ideal setting for an intimate meal with family or friends, but also the ability to cater for private parties. Our wide variety of delicious Dim Sum Dishes are served daily 12:00 - 16:00 while the A La Carte Menu runs right through the day from 12:00.
Excellent Meal and service - if i had to be critical it was a little rushed, but this did not spoil the experience. would recommend it to anyone
Excellent food and service. The best Chinese restaurant in Brighton.
I booked this restaurant based on online reviews. It was for a graduation celebration meal. The service was nonexistent, I got the feeling that we were not very welcome as they tried to seat us beside the unsightly kitchen area. I requested a better table and was given an irritated response. The food was mediocre. Very disappointed.
Great service ,fantastic food second time here and both times played safe with set menu, was a amazing choice
Seeing the many Chinese customers we concluded that this restaurant serves genuine Chinese dishes.
Taste, presentation and quantity were OK. Staff is helpful but could be more personal.
Wines are OK and all together a pleasant experience at a reasonable price.
Fantastic food and a silver service.
Desserts are bought in but we didnt go there for that, the meal is always fresh, piping hot and delicious.
We waited about 20 mins for mains to arrive which were luke warm. Service charge at 12% added to bill come what may.
We had a delightful meal and are regular customers at China Garden. We tried out a few new dishes ( the roast pork Cantonese style and delicious greens .Next time it’s going to be the devilled lobster!- we enjoyed the ambience for Father’s Day on Sunday. 👍Priti,Nish and children.
Dependant on what you choose of course, you may find the price in the upper range (£77 x2 people with drinks). That said, the food is truly amazing. Possibly the best Chinese food I have ever tasted.
From the moment we entered the place we were made to feel extremely welcome and this continued for the whole evening.
Wss made to feel welcome by the staff and nothing seemed too much trouble. They were attentive but weren't hanging around the table like some waiting staff do. The food was amazing and portionn sizes were perfect.
Was a lot cheaper than I expected too. Would definitely recommend
Lovely food best i have had and really good friendly service definitely go back again whene I'm back in Brighton
The China Garden is a nice restauarnat. We had the £28pp set menu. The food is not exciting, possibly a bit bland. There was the right amount to satisfy 6 good appitites. when combined with our liquids the net cost was £63/pp and somehow we were all left feeling that this was too much for what was a average expereince. The staff were welcomig and the service was good. The value was less so.
The service in this place is exceptional
Anniversary meal for 2 couples. Excellent mixed starters. (One large platter 1 satay stick per person. Very friendly waiter. Quick and efficient service. Great ambience.
On discussion at our hotel afterwards about the food, one of our guests who had ordered chicken, yellow bean sauce, and cashew nuts, thought she had been given tofu. The cubes were uniform and spongy in texture. They did not have a chicken texture.
She did not want to complain and embarrass us her hosts. This is an excellent restaurant, with great food. Perhaps it was a simple kitchen error
This is the second time that we have visited China Garden Chinese, and I'm very glad to say that this experience was just as good as the first! The food was excellent, tasted like Chinese food should with good texture and taste. The ambience was cosy and inviting with the live piano player taking requests on demand! The staff as ever, were polite and accommodating which made the whole experience a really enjoyable one.
Really nice to sit down and know I can rely on getting a quality experience. Only one item raised an eyebrow - king prawns in garlic sauce as part of a starter. The garlic sauce was a thick flour paste which didn't work so well for me. But everything else was wonderful, really, and we will happily go back again.
EXCELLENT ONCE AGAIN, FOOD & STAFF FANTASTIC, THE BEST IN BRIGHTON AND THE SOUTH EAST
I had a lovely evening celebrating my 81st birthday with lovely food and company.
Appreciated the pianist - much calmer the the usual background 'music'!
My only problem was the fact that, having walk problems, there was no handrail going up/down steps and no ground floor disabled toilet.
Good food nice backgrounds music piano playing 👍
I thought the food was really good with the exception of the fried rice, which was a bit soggy and the portions were very generous to the extent that we left some. The staff were delightful and the bottle of wine we had exceptional value for the quality. The only one flaw was that if you are on the right side of the restaurant as you come in the door, as we were you, get a blast of cold air every time someone walks in. If they rectified that it would be perfect
Food was lovely. We had a nice table next to window. Service was fast and friendly.
This is a large restaurant with overly bright lighting. The live piano playing was great and the service was excellent, very friendly. The food was quite good but not very interesting. My friend who knows a lot about Chinese food ordered and she was disappointed at how similar some of the dishes tasted.
Easily located just off the sea front close to the BA i360 the restaurant is large and roomy. The service is good and the food really very nice.
Great food as always.
Fab food and amazing service best Chinese food I’ve ever had.
Chinese New Year
This is a great restaurant and a fabulous meal, the staff are very friendly and the service is good. Will be back soon.
Always love this place. Food is amazing, they have a pianist playing lovely covers of music including Disney songs. Service really good even though it's so busy!!
Really pleased with this restaurant. My wife and I went there by chance as visitors to Brighton. Next time it will be by choice. Food was delicious, restaurant was inviting, server was charmingly polite, exceptionally helpful and knowledgable, professional and a credit to the restaurant.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Superb food served by friendly efficient staff. Highly recommended!
Friendly staff great food - very busy evening but good prompt service
Good service but poor-quality food. We ordered a selection of barbecued meat - crispy pork, char sui pork, and Cantonese roast duck. All three were dry and bland. The crispy pork had even been deep-fried. Our accompanying stir-fried vegetable was competent, as was the hot and sour soup. Can’t say we can recommend this place, given the food.
When in Brighton we now always have a meal at this restaurant, because the food is very good and the ambiance and staff are exceptional.
Unfortunately we are only in Brighton once or twice each year!
One of the best Chinese meals I’ve had. Excellent food and very quick service. If there was a negative it was the price of wine. But after saying that it was a quality wine.
We were a couples party of 8. Having a round table is nice as you can talk to everyone on the table.
Had to ask for air conditioning to be turned off as it was cold, the staff turned it off but wedged open the front door which caused a draft.
Food nice, quite a gap between courses but it was a busy Saturday night.
There was a stag party near us who were quite loud but they did leave before us.
Drink like most restaurants is pricy.
Staff friendly enough and did a good job.
Would recommend, but wear a jumper.
This is one of my partner and I’s favourite restauarants. We have never had a bad meal and we are always able to book a table with ease. Most of the staff are incredibly friendly and the service is faultless as well as the food. They certainly don’t skimp on portions and some people may think it a little pricey but I believe you get what you pay for. I do think it is about time the decor was changed and updated. I have been coming here since I was a child and it hasn’t changed in over 30 years. Having said that......why change something that works I guess. But I would definitely recommend to anyone that would like a beautiful Chinese meal.
We’ve wanted to go here for a long time so were utterly disappointed at the bland food and disinterested management when we called complained. We had lobster that was tough and over cooked and overpriced at £35 and Szechuan prawns which were a tiny portion watery, and bland. I complained and the management did nothing. We spent £92 and it was one of the worst over hyped restaurants I have been in. If you like your food bland, over cooked and over priced go here! Otherwise stay away and spend your money elsewhere.
Good quality chinese food and a friendly service - we will definitely return.
