Bland food; poor value for money - the bill was £150 for two (without pudding) and even then we had things added to our bill we didn't order although this was sorted out; service was good although we had a very long wait for the food to arrive and we were advised we would be offered something as a 'thank you' for waiting but whatever that was, nothing arrived. Extremely unlikely to return.

Very tasty steak but had table booked for 1930, got starter @2000 and then after 2100 for mains to arrive. Was busy and staff were apologetic but a bit too long for a meal that cost well over £100

Very expensive for no good reason. £140 for three people on a Sunday night for nice steaks but average starters and no wine. Won't be hurrying back due to cost. Can get just as good food in other local bars and restaurants.

Waited ages for main course. Food was look warm when it came.

A sirloin costs £26. Nothing with that so need to order some sides which makes it very pricey.

We were sat in the basement. Seats at ground level are far more appealing. Very noisy in basement as music very loud. We had to ask for it to be turned down as could not hear the people on the other side of the table.

I would consider going back but would request a table on ground level.

We went there a s a family group of 7 for my daughter's birthday. After booking I read the reviews and if I'm honest, I was going to cancel and go elsewhere.... but my family over ruled me.... I am glad we went... as it turned out very nice... It was empty though, as it was 2nd January! So, we found it to be very peaceful, music wasn't too loud... was perfect. Our table was just at top of the stairs, which was great...The waitress and waiter were top notch... caring for our every whimper..We got 4 of the starters to share between the 7 of us.... which was perfect... I opted for the organic pinot grigio white wine, which was fab! (got 3 bottles!)
The starters were all tasty.... then we all opted for the different steaks... The 1 very big disappointment.. (and especially for me.. as this is why I booked this place) was they had no lobster tails left... so 3 of us couldn't have the surf and turf... although the waitress came back and said they would do scallops and steak instead.. I opted out (and one other) but my son went for this...In the whole, all the food was good... The steaks were cooked to perfecton (as we had asked) but I do tend to agree with alot of the other reviews and state I think the steaks are a bit pricey for what you get... and you need to order sides on top for most of the steaks (a couple do come with straw fries...) so we ordered 6 sides to share. None of us opted for any desserts... as we were quite content with what we had...
So... in the end, I would recommend this place... but bare in mind, It was empty for us... so we got fantastic service...Steaks (mains) are a bit on the pricey side.... but in all honesty.. I ended up being £70.00 cheaper than I had banked on for the evening...(and that was with the 3 bottles of white and beers) So I was made up!!
overall 7/10

Great food in a cool modern ambience; comfortable, well catered for by our waiting staff and slightly cheaper than we expected given our previous experiences at Chophouse Leith - where we gorged ourselves the times we were there on 'sides', which would probably explain that.
Also because of the time of year (Ne'er Day) received a very refreshing and welcome complimentary cocktail.
We'll be back, and we won't be leaving it to next New Year either...

Overall, the place was good. Sadly the two things I wanted for starter and main were both unavailable, lobster and sugar pit pork, and others in our group also wanted one or both of these. They both featured strongly on the menu and so not to have them and not to tell us before we chose was pretty poor. Having said that what I did have was very good and the service from then was good.

Food was absolutely incredible!!! Everything was seasoned to perfection. The atmosphere is relaxing and warm. Our only complaint was service was slow to our table only-seemed we were kinda getting passed to whatever server we grabbed. Towards the end of the meal a wonderful gentleman server refreshed our drinks and checked on us which helped our experience.

Really enjoyed our meal, the starters were amazing and the service was great. We were told we needed to order side dishes for everything but all our dishes came with fries so we had a bit too much and actually would have been happy without the side dishes. The lobster/lobster tail were beautiful but the steak a little disappointing as it wasn’t very tender. Really good Bloody Mary and nice wine, just felt it was a little overpriced all round and grudged paying for side dishes that we didn’t really need.

4 of us went for a pre-Christmas meal and really enjoyed the service and the ambiance of the restaurant - they have done an amazing job refurbishing the place. We had requested a booth in our reservation and were pleased to get one of the great looking booths at the front. The staff were great and knowledgeable. The steaks were amazing but quite expensive. One issue was for those in the party with smaller appetites. The smallest steak is 300g, a smaller 250g steak would be a good idea.

We had been really looking forward to trying this restaurant as ecerytime we walked past it looked so busy! We left a concert early to make our reservation and it went downhill from there on. The music played so loudly that we couldn’t hear each other speak! The food came quite quickly and looked really appetising! However, the steak was so chewy, I couldn’t eat it all. It ruined the flow of conversation as I spent most of the time chewing. The macaroni lacked flavour but the onion rings were pretty tasty.
Overall, a pretty disappointing experience and quite an expensive meal for what it turned out to be.

Great food and great service. Restaurant itself was well presented clean and modern. Staff where great, friendly and chatty. Perfect night over all would definitely go back. My only criticism is the cocktails where served in quite slight servings, tasted delicious and looked very pretty but could be a little fuller for your money.

Overall we enjoyed our evening at The Chop House. The steaks were excellent however once the steaks arrived we did have to wait quite some time before the sides and cutlery arrived which meant the steak and plates were cooler than we would have liked by the time we could eat our meal. Also not sure about the high seats idea with dangling legs as the footplate is behind under the seat at an odd angle so not really suitable to use comfortably.

Having been up the Chop House in Leith my wife and I thought we'd treat ourselves to the Chop House in Bruntsfield. Upon entry we were seated at the bar as our table wasn't ready (we arrived bang on our booking slot) and drank a couple of delicious cocktails. The lateness of being seated ran through the rest of the evening with service being polite but slow and after ordering the meal took a long time to come. The pork belly starter was delicious but the Chateaubriand was over cooked which was disappointing given the cost of it. When the waitress asked how the steak was cooked I did mention a bit well done for my taste but passable. It was definitely medium to well done rather than medium rare. The sides were ok but the dripping chips were nowhere near as good as Leith. I doubt we'll be back to Bruntsfield but we'll be back in Leith again.

After hearing good things about the Chop House I was really excited to take our employees there for dinner and drinks as a Christmas treat. Unfortunately it seemed that they were unable to cope with the festive rush. Three tables around us were complaining about the time they had to wait for their food. Our mains were served around 50 minutes after our starters. They did bring us a complimentary round of drinks whilst we waited which was nice, but the slightly above average food was very over priced for the slow service we received. The atmosphere was chaotic and the waitresses & bar staff looked very stressed. At £36 for a fillet steak on its own with no garnishes, sauces or sides you would expect the service to be slick and but this was unfortunately not the case.

Went to chop house bruntsfield with high expections after recommendations from friends and family. Was nothing but disappointment with the food, service and atmosphere. I booked a table for 2 and it was 3 weeks in advanced and I was very surprised when we got seated downstairs next to a very loud party. When we booked to go for a meal at somewhere like chop house we were expecting to be able to have a conversation with each other without having to shout across the table to hear one another. With regards to the service it took 40 minutes from when we got seated to when we got the starter. The main meal itself was a dissapointment, both the rib-eye steaks were tough to eat and one of them was over cooked (this was addressed to a member of staff which I then got told it was how it was meant to be) the macaroni side was nothing but dry along with the mash potato and gravy as well as lumpy. I enjoy trying new places to go out for steak and was very disappointed with my experience at chophouse bruntsfield.
