Best of British beef, butchered & dry-aged in house and cooked over an open flame charcoal grill. Chop House is an innovative blend of classic British steakhouse and cocktail bar brought to you by the team behind Monteiths, Sygn Bar, & the White Horse Oyster Bar. Provenance is at the centre of the Chop House offer and we use only the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland.
The meat is butchered on site and dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour, increase tenderness then the beef cooked on an open flame charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Our fantastic food offering is matched by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list. Open Mon - Fri for lunch and dinner, Sat & Sun for weekend breakfast, lunch and Sunday roast! There is another Chop House in Leith & East Market St.

Pre-booking a table for brunch between 10am - 12 noon includes complimentary Bloody Mary's. Was a pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. Happy with the food also. I would return again.

Amazing food and service. Would highly recommend. We went on a Saturday evening to celebrate a special birthday. The staff were fantastic and the food was excellent.

Really very disappointed - the steak was chewy, one person’s was cold. The server was a bit ‘off’ - not very friendly at all. It was a birthday treat with a friend from England and I was actually embarrassed as I had recommended it as rave reviews for other branches. Definitely will not be recommending to friends!

This was our first visit to The Chop House. We were shown to our table straight away. A couple of little points. The music was just a notch too loud for conversation and the tables a bit close together.
The food was excellent. The scallops and scotch egg dishes fabulous. We both ordered fillet steak. I had to take some of mine home as it was too big. Cooked to perfection with sides of onion rings, mushrooms and chips. No Scottish cheeses in the menu so we opted for coffee instead. All in all a very pleasant evening and I would return.

The first time in the chop house and I was disappointed with the steak salad as the steak was tasteless actually the whole plate lacked taste. Went with a friend who has a back problem and we spent some time getting her up on to a seat as she was not able to use the stairs to go downstairs for more comfortable seats and there was no lift - her legs dangled throughout as she was not able to reach the footrest -looks very nice but not customer friendly. The staff and service both lovely. Will not hurry back.

Impressive stylish restaurant - a bit pricey for location.
We both had steaks - both only warmish served on plates that had not been properly heated - but sorted quickly and efficiently.

A welcome addition to Bruntsfield - Chop House isn't the cheapest but is worth it for the quality of food, attentive and obliging service and atmosphere. Considering how recently they have opened, things seem to running very smoothly - will definitely be back!

Attended chop house on Easter Sunday at 16.15. We were seated at a tiny table even though there were numerous large tables sitting empty, asked to get moved which wasn’t an issue.. I had to ask to order a drink and then had to ask a second time to get a food menu! Starter was nice, a bit overpriced for what it was.. steak tasted nice but was stone cold and over cooked.. we complained to a member of staff and then asked to speak with the manager. We were given a discount on the food. I’m sure it states on the website no children after 5, at 5.30 they were still accepting young children. Disappointing and overpriced, will not be back unfortunately.

This was the first time my family and I had visited the Bruntsfield Chop House and we were not disappointed. The decor, ambience , staff and menu were all spot on. Mind you we missed the skinny chips! We will be back.

Small starters, pretty bland. Cold veg with steak. Pepper sauce was as thin as water. No sign of the manager apologising until I asked to speak to him. Overall very disappointing on what was meant to be a nice lunch on Easter Saturday. Our steaks were taken off the bill but that wasn't the point - I would rather have had a fantastic meal and paid a good tip. We won't be returning.

Great family Raster treat. Kids loved it. We had porterhouse between us with some sides plus a half lobster as a treat.
The only disappointment was that there was no bone marrow. We were early diners (6pm) so presume they would have had any for the whole evening.
Lovely restaurant. They have made great use of the space. Was really busy by the time we left but fantastic service, made us feel very welcome. Had the buzz of a new fresh restaurant.
Really enjoyed it. Having enjoyed both the other Chop Houses, I feel the new addition certainly lived up to all expectation. Will definitely be visiting again.
Thanks to all the staff!

Steak resturant- my steak was cold, so was my husbands! We were with a party of 8 and didn’t say as rest of group seemed to be e noting their food! Cold chips or Mac and cheese would have been acceptable and duly returned but COLD STEAKS IN A STEAK RESTURANT 😩😩 it won’t put me off guys but hopefully a great steak next time! 💋

Steak was nice but expensive as no sides included. And sides are not cheap!

Staff were amazing and lovely but food way WAY too slow. Booking was 20:30 and we waited over an hour on our steaks, we didnt order starters and gave up on desserts. They did help with a bottle of wine but we did need some way to spend an hour waiting on our dinner. Hoping it will get better for them as they settle in but I’m not willing to spend £46 for a main, sides and wine as that’s kinda how it ended up.

On the upside the steaks were properly delicious.

As it’s just opened, I will allow some amount of fairness. Food was excellent!

Lack of options, had to opt for 3rd choice wine.

Table wasn’t ready for booked time, were left to wait for 20+ minutes with no offer of drinks, had to force the issue. Service was “good” at best.

I’m sure the creases will be ironed out, but As I wasn’t offered a discount for assisting in this, I feel somewhat disappointed

This was a disappointing evening.
While I accept the Chop House at Bruntisfield has only recently opened, the lack of readiness to host diners was surprising.
No ciders available - suppliers hadn't delivered!
Very limited selection of sharing cuts of beef - which I can accept as it was a Sunday evening
No lobster! I guess we can give them a pass here also.
But even more surprising - restricted choise of vegetables and particularly, no skinny chips.
Which poses the question - what do they do in the kitchen? Clearly it does not include peeling potatoes!
And I do think the prices are high - almost at the level of fine dining and for sure Chop House is not that.

Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Great quality food at good value for money. Have tried a couple of items in the brunch menu and will definitely be back to try the rest. Bloody Mary on the the house - an added bonus.

More expensive that we would normally pay for an "everday" lunch but very well worth it. Very comfortable restaurant, the staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food really was first class. We enjoyed everything and would definitely go again, probably more of an occasion venue for us , but wholeheartedly recommend !

They just opened so the service is working itself out. My husbands poached eggs were over cooked, blood pudding and haggis were dry. There were no options for kids so not so family friendly. Bloody Mary would be better with horseradish. I had steak and eggs, no fries. I think steak at 20 Princes.
