Fabulous brunch and the best Bloody Mary I have ever had.

I asked for a blue steak and received a medium rare steak. It was taken away and i didn't really want another one, as i knew i would have to sit and eat on my own, but under duress from my friends and I was told it would take 15 mins to redo, it actually took about 25 mins and was stone cold in the middle and no flavour. I couldn't be bothered sending it back again.

I sat and ate 1/4 of the steak and took the rest home for my dog, whom i might add thoroughly enjoyed it. it is rather off putting to sit down to a meal with friends and you have to eat on your own. :( Staff weren't that apologetic.
Table service rather slow.

Its a shame it lets the group down as we go to market street chop house regularly and have had great meals (no issues with any of our steaks and experiences.

I was expecting to either receive an adjustment on my meal or perhaps complimentary coffees, but nothing....

I dont go looking for a discount etc and i would rather just have had my steak cooked as i requested and enjoyed my night, nothing was offered as a gesture. Not great customer service.

Visited recently as a family of 5 to celebrate my birthday. We had previously been to the Market Street restaurant for the express lunch menu and were keen to visit the Bruntsfield branch for dinner. I couldn't fault it. The surroundings were lovely and waiting staff were friendly and attentive and knowledge about the food and drinks. You order starters depending on how many of each rush you want ie 2 to 3 scallops were suggested for a starter portionvat £5 per scallop. When you order mains all your sides are extra, a steak only comes with a choice of sauce. For 5 of us for two courses and a bottle of wine at £39, it was £257! I would definitely recommend and would love to visit again.

Having been to the Market Street venue previously, we were keen to try the new Brunstsfield venue. Chophouse have managed to maintain an excellent standard of quality and service in the new branch across all food and drink; the cocktail selection is excellent and the food is treated with the utmost of respect and care to provide an explosion of flavour from the first bite right down to the very last.

Every dish had us stopping to appreciate the complexities of what was going on, from the perfect sear on the chateaubriand right down to the perfectly seasoned squid.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Chophouse as my number one choice of something special to anyone who likes a piece of steak.

Great find for a birthday dinner AND loved that we could BYOB on a Monday evening (also on a Tuesday evening too). That meant we could choose exactly what wines we wanted (for a £5 per bottle corkage) and knew we would all enjoy our selection.

Also got good advice from the waitress on the type of steak I chose and how I'd need it cooked to get the best taste/texture combo.

Food was excellent but expensive. I wouid not normally expect to pay £35 for a steak and 2 sides although I admit the steak was of the highest quality. The "music" was far too loud.

Overpriced
Filet steak for £35 I would expect it to come with something
Steak had a large vein in it so couldn’t eat a quarter of it
Asked for greens side dish without butter... came smothered in butter. By the time they were re done I had nearly finished my steak
Staff good... didn’t pay for side because of mistake
Had to wait for 30 mins or so even though restaurant wasn’t busy

Really disappointed with our meal at The Chop House Bruntsfield. We were seated 10 minutes after arriving on time for our booking. Sides we ordered had run out already (approx. 9pm on a Friday night)so we had to select alternatives. The main meals took approx. an hour to arrive and the steaks were undercooked!
On the plus side the waitresses were friendly and efficient (when they actually had any food to serve up). Not sure what was going on in the kitchen - the restaurant wasn't full so not sure how they managed to allow orders to be "backed up" as the waitress told us.
Such a shame - we wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone - overpriced for undercooked slow food!

We attended the Chophouse in Bruntsfield for my fiances 30th birthday celebration. We had a great night and overall the food was great except one of the four fillet steaks was over done. The wine and cocktails were good and service was pretty good except i had written in my booking that it was for a 30th birthday hoping that they would put a candle or something onto the ordered dessert so that we could sing happy birthday and again mentioned it was for a 30th when in but there was no effort made to make this a special evening which is a little disappointing. Overall it was a nice evening and we will return to chophouse in the future.

Great Sunday roast and brunch menu. High tables/chairs a little difficult for elderly parents to get in to. Some of our party were disappointed with the beef ... too sinewy. Sides and service were great. Bloody Mary was excellent

The service was warm, welcoming and informative. Cocktails were very well presented and tasted as good as they looked. Overall the standard of the food was very, very good. Quality beef was the main reason for choosing Chop House for our night out. The flavour of our steaks (one Ribeye, one Sirloin) and the sides made this one of our best meal experiences ever. We found ourselves ranking our Saturday Night in Edinburgh ahead of other meals we enjoyed in London, Paris and even comparing it very favourably to Smith and Wollensky in New York.

The Background music was perhaps not background enough on arrival but the buzz of the chatter downstairs made it less obvious once we were seated. It's not the biggest venue and although our table for two was closely positioned between another two seater and a four it didn't feel uncomfortable.

The final bill was reasonable including starters, dessert and coffee and our server was as attentive when we were leaving as she was when we arrived. I got a really strong feeling that the staff truly care about the complete dining experience. We hope to be back soon

We made a spur of the moment online reservation for Saturday Brunch at 12.30. We live locally but this was our first visit. I was very disappointed with my course, £15.50 for a small piece of chewy, grisly steak with two fried eggs did not represent good value; my wife's eggs benedict was OK, but a bit dry. We are not the sort of people who complain. My first choice of beer was not available, also had a 250ml glass of red wine at £10.30, which was average. A nice touch was being offered a free umbrella on our departure as it was raining. O)n getting back home I received an email asking why we had not honoured the reservation we had made, which was strange as we advised of this on our arrival. Not our best first experience and will think twice before returning.

I waited 20 minutes for my drink to come to be told they could no longer serve beer (draft or bottled). Waitress was very pleasant, could not fault her. The food service was slow, it was 2 hours before we got our main. The timings of everyone’s mains arriving was sporadic, resulting in my family starting their meal at different times as they couldn’t wait any longer. Steak was sub standard for the price compared to other restaurants I’ve visited in Scotland.

Staff helpful when we arrived early. Sat outside and had a drink. Table was a shared banquette which was ok. Starter of scotch egg delicious. Steaks were ok but expensive and not as tender as we would have expected. Long delay between starter and main which was a shame as we were hungry and on date night. Good evening but expensive for an average experience overall.

Was ok, but your seat / benches / booth are super uncomfortable. 3 of my friends were pregnant and had to climb over the arm rest and the rest of us didn't do better. On the way to the toilet, I have seen that you have a better space with chairs downstairs. You should have offered those ones for us. Also the well done steaks for the pregnant ladies were raw and bloody. Had to send them back to the kitchen. Considering the price, this shouldn't have happend.

Trying hard to be some sort of upscale wet bar/steakhouse place, but also casual. Has interpreted upscale as expensive, i.e. overcharging - 99 UKP for half a kilo of chateaubriand and a lobster would be risible if there were not people on food stamps a stone's throw away and that this is probably 20 - 25 UKP worth of dead animal at restaurant supplier prices. Looking forward to seeing this one close. Go to Ondine instead.

Could have been really good, as has potential due to beautiful design layout and excellent steaks. I had a sirloin which was excellent. However very poor choice should other diners not want steak, as was situation on this occasion. My lady friend had tuna steak, which was too rare and to the restaurants credit, they recooked and then removed from the bill. Trouble was the " overacting" waitress took about 5 mins to tell us this when she came with the bill. All through the meal she could not say 10 words, when 100 would do! Too much, in that one does not go to a restaurant to listen to a waitress babbling on. Also music a bit intrusive for conversation. For an Edinburgh restaurant in Bruntsfield about 20% too dear too!

Inattentive, sloppy staff. Badly cooked food, served steaks and chips arrived 5 minutes later. Rare steaks had been kept warm under salamander so lost flavour. Medium steak served rare, sponge dessert served only partially defrosted and clubbing music to suit the staff played intrusively loudly completed the pantomime. Not forgetting the waitress waving the wine bottle around like an incense thurible at mass splashed red wine droplets over chinos. Not that she noticed. A total shambles- get the bus to the original Leith shop!!

Excellent dining experience at Chop House Bruntsfield. Both myself and my l wife really enjoyed the steak, they were so tasty. The sides were also excellent. We went here for my birthday. My husband and I both went for the sirloin - my husband said his was really nice but mine unfortunately was quite fatty and chewy. I also opted for the dripping fries, my husband for the straw fries and his were 100% tastier. Works out rather expensive by the time you add on all the extras eg chips, salad, veg.

Glad we tried it as have heard so many good reviews but wouldn’t rush back.

Saying all that, the staff are extremely tentative and the service is first class.

Eatery with fine dining prices.
Not impressed with this establishment. The food was ok but would suggest greatly overpriced as was the wine.
The service was good but the table sizes for 2 were totally inadequate to accommodate food glasses etc. The place has more in keeping with a New York diner than a restaurant.
We shall not be revisiting.

We had a brilliant time here celebrating our wedding anniversary. We'd previously visited the leith restaurant but wanted to give bruntsfield a try. The food was delicious and the service was a delight.
We had booked the table with standard seating and were surprised with a large table in the window, looking over to the links.
