Patchy. The starters were divine... mini taco, battered prawns and scotch egg. Cauliflower steak cooked on grill with pomegranite and mint was inspired, need to have that again soon! Sides and steak great. Mussels were inedible shocking that a chef would send such rubbish out. Staff attentive but long delay between courses where no one in the room had food was irritating. Mussels and drinks taken off bill to compensate for disappointment and delay.

Food and cocktails were lovely only didn’t give top marks as a large hair was in my daughters food and we were charged £8 for one sausage and egg for a two year old which seemed a bit much.

Service pretty slow, food lovely but by the time our sides arrived the steaks were getting pretty cold. Glass of wine took an age to arrive as well in spite of it being late on and the staff not obviously busy! Staff seemed a bit too cool for school, apart from the girl who brought us our food who was very professional. Bit of a strange set up as well in that you weren’t sure who was responsible for your table? We were served by so many different people! Lovely decor & ambience good (excellent music) but won’t be going back, sorry.

Went to the Bruntsfield chophouse in its first couple of weeks and very much enjoyed the food and service. However went back for my brothers birthday last weekend and was quite disappointed. The service at the bar was lacking, I got a drink but they didn’t pick up my brothers order. The young guy who served us partially was friendly but our plates sat on our small table for quite a while after we finished when they were cleared by the manager she simply asked if there was too much food... the onion rings were soggy and mash lumpy. When we paid the bill and left a generous tip considering, there were no pleasantries. I feel so disappointed as it was awesome when it first opened. Maybe just a bad day but I would think twice about recommending or going back in a hurry...

Amazing, as always. Friendly staff, fabulous service, next level steaks, and the drinks (the bourbon banana flip btw!) oh and the decor! Have been coming here since they first opened in Leith. This time brought along family from Aus who ordered the Highland cow sharing cut & this was their best meal out of their whole trip around Europe (& the best steak they have had in their entire life)!

Food was ok, but we had mussels where a significant number weren’t open and our rib-eye steaks , although nicely cooked, had some sinews that we couldn’t eat. Staff were nice, but overpriced for quality provided (IMO)

No discount offered - after feedback.

The chop house is fine. I think what lets it down is that the ambiance is akin to a Byron or similar kind of restaurant, i.e. high end burger joint. Its loud and you are packed in. We could hear everything the table beside us were saying. That’s fine for a certain type of night out, but there is a much higher price point here. I’ve been to the sister restaurant with a large group of guys and I think it is better suited to that than a date.

The food is fine. My steak was a bit over what I like. The waitress was happy to take it back, but I didn’t want to have to eat at a different time than my date.

The service was the best element of the evening.

We booked on a Sunday afternoon for a roast dinner and we were looking forward after a visit to the Market St restaurant. The starters of chicken skewers and Scotch egg were lovely. However, the roast was lukewarm and the roast potatoes were hard as if they had been reheated (these were sent back and offered mashed potato instead, this was lumpy and bland). Additionally, the Yorkshire pudding resembled a scone in both taste and texture. The greens and carrots were tasty, as was the Bloody Mary. Overall we were very disappointed with the meal having had a great meal previously at the Market St. restaurant.

I visited with a friend for brunch and we absolutely loved it! I had the bacon sandwich - best most extravagant bacon sandwich of my life! My friend had the butchers breakfast! The food was amazing, and great value we thought! See the @edinburghfoodgirl Instagram account post for more detail and a picture! Really love the decor of the place too.. think this is a really great addition to bruntsfield!

Having enjoyed both the branches in Leith and Market Street we were looking forward to the newest addition to the Chop House, despite very attentive service and a ‘buzzy’ atmosphere it was a bit of a disappointment. The starters were fine but there was a bit of a gap until the mains arrived which meant the relatively expensive bottle of wine was almost consumed. My wife’s straw fries appeared undercooked and my beef dripping chips were lukewarm and unfortunately the rib-eye was slightly tough - I think our dishes may have been on the pass longer than necessary. Will return to Leith venue again though!

Having looked forward to eating at Chop Houses new outpost in Bruntsfield it was a shame to find that something just wasn’t right. Regulars to their Leith home, the food is among the best in Edinburgh, sadly the wasn’t the case for their Bruntsfield space.

We came in for breakfast with my parents who were down for a week in Edinburgh, our server Emma made us feel incredibly welcome and engaged with us in good conversation.

We had the Butchers Breakfast and one had Eggs Benedict; outstanding food all round and more than enough to get your energy for the day - not too much but certainly not too little by any stretch!

The bloody marys (included due to time and day of booking) were spectacular, and at varying spice levels decided by the guest they are able to cater to all tastes.

I thoroughly recommend Chophouse Bruntsfield for anyone looking for top quality, service, atmosphere, and just hearty food.

We've been to the Shore restaurant many times and wanted to try a different one. The Bruntsfield Chop House is brilliant and we loved the atmosphere. We'd definitely hop on the bus from the shore to go to this sister restaurant without a doubt. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing! We'll definitely return. 😀

We enjoyed our Sunday roast beef and Yorkshire pudding brunch very much. The roast was cooked to our liking and the two starters, the spicy chicken and tomato with burrata salad had lovely pops of flavour. Our server, Emma, was friendly, efficient and very welcoming. We liked it so much that we have booked for next Sunday!

I asked for a blue steak and received a medium rare steak. It was taken away and i didn't really want another one, as i knew i would have to sit and eat on my own, but under duress from my friends and I was told it would take 15 mins to redo, it actually took about 25 mins and was stone cold in the middle and no flavour. I couldn't be bothered sending it back again.

I sat and ate 1/4 of the steak and took the rest home for my dog, whom i might add thoroughly enjoyed it. it is rather off putting to sit down to a meal with friends and you have to eat on your own. :( Staff weren't that apologetic.
Table service rather slow.

Its a shame it lets the group down as we go to market street chop house regularly and have had great meals (no issues with any of our steaks and experiences.

I was expecting to either receive an adjustment on my meal or perhaps complimentary coffees, but nothing....

I dont go looking for a discount etc and i would rather just have had my steak cooked as i requested and enjoyed my night, nothing was offered as a gesture. Not great customer service.

Visited recently as a family of 5 to celebrate my birthday. We had previously been to the Market Street restaurant for the express lunch menu and were keen to visit the Bruntsfield branch for dinner. I couldn't fault it. The surroundings were lovely and waiting staff were friendly and attentive and knowledge about the food and drinks. You order starters depending on how many of each rush you want ie 2 to 3 scallops were suggested for a starter portionvat £5 per scallop. When you order mains all your sides are extra, a steak only comes with a choice of sauce. For 5 of us for two courses and a bottle of wine at £39, it was £257! I would definitely recommend and would love to visit again.

Having been to the Market Street venue previously, we were keen to try the new Brunstsfield venue. Chophouse have managed to maintain an excellent standard of quality and service in the new branch across all food and drink; the cocktail selection is excellent and the food is treated with the utmost of respect and care to provide an explosion of flavour from the first bite right down to the very last.

Every dish had us stopping to appreciate the complexities of what was going on, from the perfect sear on the chateaubriand right down to the perfectly seasoned squid.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Chophouse as my number one choice of something special to anyone who likes a piece of steak.

Great find for a birthday dinner AND loved that we could BYOB on a Monday evening (also on a Tuesday evening too). That meant we could choose exactly what wines we wanted (for a £5 per bottle corkage) and knew we would all enjoy our selection.

Also got good advice from the waitress on the type of steak I chose and how I'd need it cooked to get the best taste/texture combo.

Filet steak for £35 I would expect it to come with something
Steak had a large vein in it so couldn’t eat a quarter of it
Asked for greens side dish without butter... came smothered in butter. By the time they were re done I had nearly finished my steak
Staff good... didn’t pay for side because of mistake
Had to wait for 30 mins or so even though restaurant wasn’t busy

Really disappointed with our meal at The Chop House Bruntsfield. We were seated 10 minutes after arriving on time for our booking. Sides we ordered had run out already (approx. 9pm on a Friday night)so we had to select alternatives. The main meals took approx. an hour to arrive and the steaks were undercooked!
On the plus side the waitresses were friendly and efficient (when they actually had any food to serve up). Not sure what was going on in the kitchen - the restaurant wasn't full so not sure how they managed to allow orders to be "backed up" as the waitress told us.
Such a shame - we wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone - overpriced for undercooked slow food!

We attended the Chophouse in Bruntsfield for my fiances 30th birthday celebration. We had a great night and overall the food was great except one of the four fillet steaks was over done. The wine and cocktails were good and service was pretty good except i had written in my booking that it was for a 30th birthday hoping that they would put a candle or something onto the ordered dessert so that we could sing happy birthday and again mentioned it was for a 30th when in but there was no effort made to make this a special evening which is a little disappointing. Overall it was a nice evening and we will return to chophouse in the future.
