About Chop House Market Street
Best of British beef, butchered & dry-aged in house and cooked over an open flame charcoal grill. Chop House is an innovative blend of classic British steakhouse and cocktail bar brought to you by the team behind Monteiths, Sygn Bar, WestRoom & the White Horse Oyster Bar. Provenance is at the centre of the Chop House offer and we use only the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland.
The meat is butchered on site and dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour and increase tenderness. Only then is the beef cooked on an open flame charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Our fantastic food offering is matched by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list. Open Mon - Fri for lunch and dinner, Sat & Sun for weekend breakfast, lunch and Sunday roast! There is another Chop House in Leith, Edinburgh.

Chop House Market Street Ratings and Reviews
Had an excellent meal here. The steak was like eating air it was so tender and tasty. Would recommend this to anyone, who has a spare few pounds (since it is quite expensive) but well worth the money for a special occasion.
Only downside is how close the seating is to one and other.
Clearly meat is the central element here - the clue is in the name! And the beef and lamb did not disappoint - it's really delicious and both well produced and cooked. The menu is quite simple, so it works if you are a meat lover. As a coeliac I was not disappointed and had a superb GF meal, including roast potatoes and the most delicious gravy. However, it would be a good idea for the restaurant to have a wee think about GF options and maybe include some chips, a slighter wider choice of fish and some GF rolls to soak up all that lovely juice around the scallops!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We were aware it was a little pricey but actually when we got there and ate the food we were more than happy to pay!
They asked why we were there and I said it was his birthday. We didn’t order pudding but they brought out ice cream with a candle. The staff were incredibly friendly and talked through the menu which helped us.
We chose a sharing steak and it was incredible. The best steak I have ever had. Definitely recommend!!
We decided to try Chop House for a night out in Edinburgh. We were delighted with the range of food on offer, the service and the quality of the food.
The range of cuts of steak, ages and sizes were very impressive. Both our steaks were cooked as we asked and tasted Delicious. We will be back.
We heard great things about chop house so thought to give it a try ourselves and we certainly were not disappointed!
The atmosphere is relaxed, stylishly decorated and comfortable. The cocktail menu is varied with plenty great cocktails to choose from, the wine menu has a great selection with most wines coming by the glass.
We had the squid and the mussels to start, perfectly cooked, tasted amazing and good value for money, the portions are a good size. For mains all I can say is The steaks are excellent!!!! Aging in house and sourcing the meat themselves certainly pays off, I've tried many steak houses in Edinburgh and Chop House is now my favourite! For dessert we had the cheeseboard, good cheeses and it's great you can choose which ones you'd like. I tried the peaches, simply grilled with honey and creme fraiche on top, a perfect ending to a fabulous meal!
All of the staff were friendly, knowledgable and efficient, I certainly cannot fault the service!
All in all I highly recommend and will most definitely be returning again and again!
Fabulous food (we had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection!) and fab house red wine (especially a large glass!). The restaurant wasn't as big as I thought it would be so make sure you book in advance. It was a bit noisy, it was just the two of us and sometimes it was hard to hear each other as the tables are relatively close to each other so if you are next to a large group it can prove difficult to have a conversation. Overall, I would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family.
You know exactly what you're getting when you come here - excellent table service, a great atmosphere, and perfectly cooked steak! We took advantage of the BYOB on Tuesdays with £5 corkage which definitely improved the value of our meal. The staff went the extra mile to pop a candle in my boyfriend's dessert for his birthday, and were wonderfully attentive the whole evening, even explaining the different cuts they had and how best to cook them. Would absolutely recommend for a special meal, and will definitely be back!
