Brilliant food and service as always! Looking forward to my next visit already.
Food was outstanding. Service and staff were excellent and the restaurant has a lovely ambience.
Great food, great service- would highly recommend!
Been on a few occasions. Food well seasoned and has been consistently excellent
Fabulous restaurant! We had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. I had a side order of dripping chips and onion rings whilst my husband had side orders of straw fries and mushrooms, it was all so good that we shared our sides! We had a bottle of the house merlot which we highly recommend as it complimented our dinner as well as the cheeseboard. Once finished we sat at the bar area and enjoyed the atmosphere and a few drinks. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be returning.
Such a great venue for a get together with friends. We shared oysters, scallops and then the Porterhouse beef. Cooked to perfection and coupled with some great red wines at a reasonable price. Service with a smile too. A great evening. Thank you Chophouse team.
Awesome steak, very polite, but busy waiting staff .
This was my second time at the Chop House. I went back because the last time I was in Edinburgh the food and service was amazing. This time it left us underwhelmed. Food was not as good and the service was mediocre - It felt like all the staff would rather have been somewhere else.
The first time I visited chop house at market street we had an amazing waitress. She ran through everything with us, different types of steaks etc and always ensured we were having a great dining experience. The food was fantastic.
We booked the chop house for Valentine’s Day in advance and we had such a good experience last time. This time, our waiter didn’t explain anything to us, and was not interested in us at all. It really put a dampener on our evening that we had been looking forward to for months.
Hopefully next time on our return we will have a waiter/waitress that is interested in us and not just someone taking orders.
Fabulous atmosphere, fabulous food and fabulous service. Well done Chop House!!
Food was excellent, staff very friendly and attentive, very enjoyable meal!
I have been to Chop House many times and would normally give 5 * all round but was a little disappointed with steaks this time, they were just warm and my friend who had Rib Eye found it to be chewy. Service was ok but not to the standard as in previous visits. I ordered breakfast Tea and received Green Tea, quickly changed and apologies. Staff all very pleasant in a positive nite.
Best Sunday lunch in a long long time, the beef was perfect. Thanks for a great afternoon.
A bit disappointed with the organization, it wasn't terribly busy on a sat night and twice in a row it was not apparent to the staff that they had ran out of the drink I asked for, the third option did run out when serving me.
Our waiter did not seem too knowledgable about the menu / special boards, it would have been nice for some complimentary info on the steaks/ wines on offer, was not very interactive with us. He initially asked us if we were ready to order as soon as we sat down, whilst cleaning the table next to us. This is not very professional in my opinion.
The food however was very nice.
I’ve been to all three restaurants no in Edinburgh and Market street was the worst. Steak was amazing but sadly the side dishes let the whole meal down. We have always enjoyed all the side dishes just as much as the steak. However the buttered greens were cold and not much flavour and the dripping chips and garlic potatoes had no flavour. Also we had been seated downstairs even although at the time off booking I had booked a proper sit down table upstairs ( did get moved when asked ). Don’t think I will go back to this restaurant but will go back to both other restaurants
Excellent steak as per usual. Great value with the £5 corkage club. Loved the 80 day dry aged beef, cooked expertly. Charming service.
Fantastic steak once again, best in edinburgh by far.
Good food and quality service
First time at the ChopHouse and was impressed. We had scallops and they were amazing. We then had fillet steak and again lovely. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding and it was to die for.
If I was to criticise it at all would be it is very small inside and where we sat was at the top of the stairs next to the kitchen so was quite busy.
We will be back.
Calum was great. Food delicious. All round highly recommend.
Toilets were disgusting. Hand dryer wasn’t working.
Tables to cramped. Made worse by the man next to us being drunk and rude.
Worth the wait for steak it was superb but not worth the price compared to other steak places in the city.
Had a great lunch here on Sunday. Scotch egg was amazing, as was the steak and straw fries. Lovely wine a and service was perfect.
I would appreciate a choice to book upstairs or downstairs. Plus the bartender spilt his drink on me and didn’t get offered it for free. Which I found poor. Subsequently this reduced the service from a 5 star to a 2 star.
Steak was average at best.
The prices are high and food did not match
Really great value for money at lunch time, had a great meal with great service. Very pleased
Decent drinks, reasonably good value wine list. Nice place and friendly staff. The cooking is fine, but a bit bland.
Service was first class. Food amazing.. third time visiting this restaurant whilst in Edinburgh for the weekend . Would highly recommend !!!
Can not fault the food, it was excellent but the service very slow, took over an hour before starters came. Was very noisy too, hard to hear what others were saying.
First timer here and really enjoyed it , one of the best sirloin steaks I’ve had for years
Only negative about the night was online they were making a big thing about the 2 ribeyes offer but we weren’t offered it
However enjoyed my stay and would return
Food was outstanding, everything full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The setting is really cool and something different. Would Definitely recommend anyone to go and we will be back again
The best damn steak that I ever had in my life. Very good service. For sure I will back.
Loved our Sunday brunch here, staff are fab and really friendly, accommodating and go out of their way to help. Always lovely food and a nice chilled atmosphere , thank you :)! We will be back again soon x
The restaurant was small and intimate but wasn’t too busy or cramped. The steak was amazing best I’ve ever had x
Will definitely be back the food and service was excellent.
Lovely space and food was good but slightly overcooked,
Service, drinks and atmosphere were all good.
Decided to treat my parents and sister to a lovely meal at the end of a holiday in Scotland. Absolutely stunning food - chateaubriand cooked perfectly with great sides and a lovely wine collection. Really enjoyed the whole evening.
Excellent service, ambiance and menu. The Mac & Cheese side is to die for!
We were out for dinner at Hogmanay with family. We choose Chophouse for all of our special occasions and have never been disappointed. The only down side was that we were seated downstairs at the door and the high stool for me was not that comfortable but overall a great night.
Attended chop house on New Year’s Eve with two of our friends whom we recommended chop house as we had visited chop house prior to this date. Completely disappointed with the whole experience, as were they. Food was standard. My partner and I usually order chautebriand when visiting steak houses as we both enjoy the cut, and this was by far the worst chautebriand we had ever been served. Originally asked for the 600g cut however there was none available, was then told by our waiter that there was a 700g cut available, he had said he was advised by the chef that there was a 700g cut available. Ordered all of our food, and then 20 minutes later our waiter returned to inform us that there was no 700g cut there was now only an 800g cut which was £96. We were very obliged to decline, and felt under pressure to say yes to this change as we had already waited over 40 minutes to have our orders taken. When the chautebriand arrived, we were disappointed to say the least. Most of our meat was fat, which we have never experienced anywhere before on this cut of steak. Our friends with their food either. It’s disappointing as our previous visit to chop house on market street was lovely and very enjoyable however after this visit I highly doubt that any of us would return. Disappointing start to the new year, we understand that this would’ve been a busy night for such a small restaurant and this could’ve had something to do with the service and the meal. However when you are paying over £250+ for a meal you would it expect better.
We had a delicious meal for 4 (2 adults and 2 teens) on Hogmanay. Food was amazing, drinks were really good and atmosphere was excellent. My sons loved the music as did we. Thanks for what was a great early Hogmanay evening family experience.
