Chop House Market Street
The meat is dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour, increase tenderness then the beef cooked on a charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Our fantastic food offering is matched by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list. Open Mon - Fri for lunch and dinner, Sat & Sun for weekend breakfast, lunch and Sunday roast! We have another Chop House in Leith & Bruntsfield Edinburgh.
bearnaise, burnt onions, bone marrow gravy & straw fries
Dry Aged Steak Burger
comté, pickles, shredded lettuce & straw fries
Good food, good pint and cocktails. What’s not to like?
We had a lovely meal yesterday. Both chose steak; sirloin very well done and rib rye medium. Both cooked to perfection. Peppercorn sauce as a side as well as triple cooked chips and opted for greens without the chilli. Sides are priced extra. Also had bread and garlic butter to start. Chose a Chenin Blanc instead of a Sauvignon as wine quite pricey but it was delicious. Lovely friendly staff. Would recommend. Very central location.
Quality food in a lovely setting excellent restaurant
Best steak ever, food was fabulous enjoyed every bite - lovely staff would definitely recommend
Lovely friendly staff, fantastic quality steak. Chicken wings to die for. A really enjoyable evening.
Excellent service. Excellent food quality. Very good drinks. Overall great experience.
Lovely meal can’t wait to come back
Excellent Fathers Day lunch, steaks, sides, beers and desserts.
Great service & great quality food.
Will definitely be back.
I don't know if we just got a bad cut of meat, but we went for the specially aged sirloin and it was incredibly chewy and not very flavoursome, to the point where it wasn't enjoyable to eat. Unfortunately we were also waiting an hour for any food to arrive to this made it all the more disappointing. Surprised at how much the bill came to even after we sent the steak back and had £30 taken off the total (despite the cost of the steak being £66). Half a main course and 4 drinks came to nearly £100.
Food was mediocre for what was paid, also lukewarm, quite disappointed. Overpriced lobster as well which was mediocre. Wasn’t the most welcoming of atmosphere’s either. Also when I called to reschedule the number of people booked, the receptionist was incredibly rude and cutting to both me and my mother. Wouldn’t be back in all honesty. Not a good way to keep customers.
Lovely friendly staff and excellent food
First visit to Chop. Food delicious and a lovely goody bag when we left with Chop’s very own garlic butter and peppercorn sauce as their way of saying thank you! Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.
Fantastic food will definitely return service was great
Great food, lovely prawn tempura, great rib eye and side of mushrooms. Finger bowl for my wife's mussels was iced water? but overall a good experience!
Food was amazing, will defo be back. Staff were great too
One of the best restaurants I had the pleasure to eat in. Great quality of meat and food in general. Drink list accurate and choice fully. Lovely staff!
Fantastic steak from a charcoal grill, also great sides. Very good food and drinks overall.
Fantastic meal, fantastic staff. Definitely rate it as the best place in town. Thank you for such a lovely experience
Beautiful steak, the best I have had. Surprised that you had to pay for basic chips on top and all other extras. Garlic mushrooms were delicious. Slaw was disappointing. Sirloin steak chips and mushrooms£35 ouch !
Overpriced. Sadly the Steak was average
Top marks and would recommend choosing here. Very friendly, welcoming and professional staff. Great food and we will return here again
Food and service were both excellent. I thought some tables, ours, were a bit too close to others.
Fantastic food and atmosphere 😊
Family tea. Everyone loved there steaks. I’m vegetarian and there was a vegetarian option but I went for a selection of the side dishes. All were tasty. Staff were really helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Portion sizes small(not steak as it’s sold by weight). Value very poor. Steaks cooked very well. Sides seasoned very well.
Arguably the best steak in Edinburgh , fantastic location , great decor , friendly helpful staff , music is outstanding ....an all round amazing experience.... highly highly recommended....
Amazing! Highly recommend - will be back!
The seats are awful ..steel booths that vibrate continually from the group either ride of you ..ruined the experience
Can't recommend the chop house in market Street enough. Had dinner on Saturday night for my 50th birthday and from the service to the food everything was amazing. Steak cooked to perfection. Won't be waiting till my 100th to go back.
Very busy, very noisy restaurant, could hardly hear each other speak. One ribeye steak (medium rare) and one fillet (well done). Ribeye cooked well, fillet, a little too charred on the edges. Rather surprised to see a ribeye steak so thin (around 5mm thick). Triple cooked chips were OK. The portion of onion rings (5) were good but value for money poor.
On the whole an OK meal that was very overpriced. Main course only and a bottle of sparkling water came to over 100 pounds. There are better quality and better value eateries available locally.
Would not recommend.
We had a fantastic afternoon. First meal/day out in 16 months with family. 100% highly recommend 🙌🙌🙌
Had to wait 40 minutes for table although were offered a table for drinks while we waited.
great service and great food. Portion sizes were fantastic and even better with a few cocktails
Really enjoyed our meal to celebrate my husbands birthday. We did have a 15 min wait for our booked table which is fine but ate into our 2 hour max stay. Waited an hour for our main course, partly due to the way we wanted our steaks cooked but also because they were really busy. We didn’t mind the wait but it did mean we had to kind of rush to finish and didn’t have time for dessert to due max stay limit. Food was lovely and we will be back, hopefully we’ll have time for dessert:)
Food at Chop House was absolutely outstanding, as was the service! We were slightly early for our booking but they accommodated us and were so attentive - without being over bearing. Would highly recommend.
A great dinner at The Chop House Market Street. The welcome and service is as good as the food. My wife had a fillet and I had a ribeye and both were cooked perfectly. Only disappointment is the lack of an IPA or an ale as lager was the only beer on offer
A fabulous night and somewhere we’ll return to soon
Poor service from the get go. Made to wait outside even though we booked our table. Never offered drinks while we waited then folk that appeared after us jumped the que to get a table. Sharing steak was not worth the money. Didn’t taste like aged beef that I’ve had in the past. Also table was broken and wobbly. Not good enough after spending £160 for 2 people.
Amazing food and service. Waitress was amazing. Would recommend.
Food was excellent but make sure you order plenty sides cause the steaks come with nothing but a sauce.
Service could be better when your asking the kind of money that this place asks.
That said I think I would return
We had a great meal at Chop House last night we ordered the porterhouse to share and it did not disappoint. The triple cooked chips were also cooked to perfection and the garlic wild mushrooms were delicious. We didn’t sample the desserts as we were so full but they also looked great. Will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh.
