Visited for the pancake day menu. The food was excellent, however, it took an hour to arrive from the point where we sat at the table.
Unfortunately Christopher’s failed to impress this pancake day. We waited 55 minutes before our pancakes were served, they were warm but only just, and the waiters/waitresses were entirely inattentive. No reason was given for the delay, and despite us making them aware of how long we had waited, they still put service charge on the bill before we challenged it.
My partner and I chose Christophers for pancake day as we did last year and the year before but that will not be repeated next year based on the experience last night.
I can no longer recommend your restaurant to my friends as our experience was not good and I left very unhappy.
It ruined what is suppose to be a special night for my partner and I.
We arrived early to be told our table wasn't ready - we were then not made welcome at all by receptionists that barely looked away from their computer screens, we went to wait at the bar but weren't collected when it was our reservation time and eventually made our own way up stairs, carrying our drinks. The dining hall was so busy and loud that I could barely have a conversation with my partner.
Our starters and main were good and we really enjoyed them.
The actual reason we came, for the pancakes is the reason I am complaining.
I understand mistakes are made and then often a simple fix will suffice however I was insulted by how you sought to correct your mistake with my food. Our pancakes arrived completely dripping in ice-cream but the ice cream had been mixed up and my partner had mine and I had his, I flagged this and they were taken away only to be immediately brought back with the ice-cream having been quite clearly just picked up and dumped on the plate - meaning the food was a mess, melted and manhandled.
We didn't eat them and asked for the bill. I didn't want food prepared by your kitchen after this, its not even slightly appropriate to treat food this way in a restaurant and expect a customer to pay for it. Apologies were made by the manager, the uneaten food removed from the bill and two house champagnes offered, this was oddly also offered to the couple next to us also which obviously undermined any apology it was suppose to convey.
We ended up not eating the pancakes we came for and left unhappy, I will not be returning nor will I ever recommend Christopher's as I used to.
I love Christopher’s but recently ( the last 2 times i ate there ) the food is very slow , they should also add more variety to the main courses .
The desserts menu was amazing .
went for wife's birthday and called up beforehand. We had already gone out for dinner prior but wanted the brioche french toast with chocolate sauce for dessert and when called up the restaurant to ensure that they were still serving it at 11pm, they said that they do but only if ordered with a main course.
Had to argue that it was my wife's birthday and the front of house staff checked with manager and said it was fine.
Was nice of them to allow this despite their policy and they surprised her with a fancy candle and happy birthday written in sauce on her plate which was a really nice touch!
Delicious as always
handy to have a pre-dinner drink in the stylish cocktail bar downstairs and then have it included on the upstairs restaurant bill. We went for the steak and that is what we had. Before that though my companion tusked into the melting beef carpaccio (how many times can you say delicious) whereas I had the asparagus parmesan and egg. Both standard dishes but both exceptionally well prepared. We then both had the 10oz US rib eye - grilled just as asked for; tasted just as meat used to taste - sweet potato chips and wilted spinach. Again all just right. Decent wine list and prompt friendly service. Place was busy but even so the noise levels were low - must be the panelling. definitely going again.
Another good night at Christophers, however the menu could do with a little updating. Piped music is a little intrusive, so people have to talk louder, thus adding to the noise levels.
A beautiful restaurant (and Martini bar for pre-dinner cocktails). The food was particularly good and service was swift and attentive. We will definitely return for another delicious dinner!
Came with family before a show and we were running a little late due to tube delays, mentioned this to our waitress and we managed to get our meals very quickly so we could make it out in time for the show, great food and great service - would definitely return again
Good food , good service
Great service and lovely food! The waitresses were really accommodating and the time we chose was a good quiet time to have a catch up.
Delicious food! Will definitely be visiting again next time we’re in London!
Food took a very long time to be served. At least 30-40 minutes.
I came with my boyfriend for my birthday, the food was absolutely delicious, probably the best restaurant we’ve been to. Even the drinks were so good! We had the popcorn shrimp, the lobster mac and cheese, the salmon with jambalaya, a side of creamed spinach, and another side of parmesan truffle fries. For drinks i had a dorty vodka martini (grey goose) and he had a jim beam. For desserts he had the pecan pie and i had the Nutella french toast with a Nutella martini. The french toast was brought out with a sparkler and had happy birthday written on the plate which was so beautiful! I just would have loved it all the more if they staff had sung or at least seemed a bit more jolly about it!
Weekend brunch menu is fab! Would only suggest having a veggie/non pork option for the Texas grill (veggie sausages, turkey bacon) etc. Other than that I would recommend.
Excellent as usual. All 4 of us had the post theatre menu which was ideal andxwexall had sea bass with a dessert but needed some additional sides to go with the main course
Mediocre food- really poor service
Had a great time here, went for a Valentine’s Day dinner and really enjoyed it! Great vibe and amazing food, would definitely recommend!
The service, food and drinks was really good. The cheddar-mash and popcorn shrimp were definitely my favourites overall. Definitely would recommend for a fancy romantic spot! :)
Food was absolutely amazing! And their service was great!
The food and prices were great! The only problem was that the waitress double charged me on accident.
We went to Christopher’s on Valentine’s Day and it was very disappointing. My wife’s burger was smothered in mayonnaise which was not referred to on the menu and which she is unable to eat so it had to be returned to the kitchen. My steak was nicely cooked but was not terribly well seasoned and not especially good value for £40. The French Fries were awful, thin and greasy and extremely poor value for money. At around 7.45 we were approached by a surly maitre d’ who told us that “we need your table back” without us having been told that there were any time constraints on our meal at all. I would not expect this from a restaurant of this quality and certainly not done in the brusque manner in which it was done. Of course the reason why we were taking the time that we were was because one of the dishes was wrongly described and had to be sent back. That item had been removed from the bill at least so that was a plus. Gorgeous surroundings, very average food and poor value for money I am afraid.
Lovely ambience, delicious food, good cocktails & great company. It’s my second trip & would definitely return again.
Lovely restaurant with stunning internal decor. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious !
We had a lovely anniversary meal before going to see a play. The food came quickly and tasted delicious, we will definitely be back again!
We returned after an amazing meal in August 2018. Unfortunately I didn’t find this meal to be as good, it was quite greasy and it was very expensive.
Amazing food, amazing view and so good service.
The host was super professional and took care of us a lot.
Our waitress Niculae was an expert and she was explaining us the dishes and make us feel so hospitalised. I love the Caesar’s salad and the chocolate french toast. It was so tasty. Recommend this place definitely and soon I will come back!
We were celebrating a gentleman’s birthday. When we got there it was clear he wouldn’t be able to make the 29 stairs to the restaurant (sadly no lift). The staff immediately accommodated us in the bar area. They couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful.
Fantastic food, great service,a wonderful environment to spend the evening in
Went for pre-theatre dinner at 5.15pm. Arriving early we went to the downstairs bar which was fairly busy. The only major problem was the techno music which was blaring out and made conversation difficult. It was the sort of music more suited to after 9pm than an early evening drink. Guess it must be for the staff as the majority of the customers were over 35.
Excellent value pre-theatre menu! Lovely carafe of wine.
Great service by the staff, the ore theatre menu is a bargain, and the restaurant is beautiful. Highly recommend
Went for my boyfriend's 21st birthday and the service was amazing for this occasion and the food was also great.
The service was on top and the servants was brilliant.
