Food was generally high quality, although I’d give the sourdough bread a miss, more like sliced from a supermarket .
Overall experience slightly compromised by a) temperature (too warm in the restaurant) b) a few small things - white wine carafe not put in an ice bucket, table too small for size of the plates, came to take order when my companion had gone to the ladies etc
The food was gorgeous staff were ok but forgot my olives and no apology. It was a friends and my 50th birthday but no special celebrations were made for us
We have been to Christopher's twice, the first time I had the Beef Fillet and Monterey Cheese mash, it was singularly the nicest steak I have ever had, a beautiful piece of beef and the mash was incredible.
So we rebooked and both of us ordered the Fillet, but this time it was a very average piece of meat, a bit disappointing, particularly given the prices.
We will go somewhere else next time.
Food was decent, great for the theatre as it is right there which is the main reason why I booked it. Cocktails were delicious, the menu is quite strange didn’t really flow if you ask me. Staff were kind, in general was nice but wouldn’t say it was the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. But for the theatre it’s fantastic
We went for brunch on my wife’s birthday. Absolutely fantastic service from everyone, the chocolate French toast is an absolute must. I mentioned it is my wife’s birthday in passing on the phone when booking and they arranged a little special treat for my wife to both of our surprise for free!! They arranged mini brownies and cakes which were also delicious with happy birthday written in chocolate sauce which was a really nice touch. Enjoy the whole experience, would definitely recommend!
Great cocktails to start in the bar. Restaurant service is excellent in a very pleasant setting. Varied menu with great steaks. Wine list a little restrictive but delicious desserts compensated,! Worth every penny and highly recommended.
Great food excellent service perfect location.
Music not to our taste.
I visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch. The food is good, and service excellent. Not too pricey particularly for london.
i celebrated my birthday with a friend at christopher´s. it was just amazing and a beautiful start in my new year. they had a little surprise for me (kind of a sparkler) and i was so so happy about it.
Excellent after-theater menu, good value for money with several choices and excellent food. The choice of wines was also very good! Very attentive service, overall a very enjoyable experience.
We have been to Christopher’s a number of times now but unfortunately this time it was very disappointing. This was a special treat for my daughter’s 22nd birthday which I had specifically stated on the on-line booking. Although she was wished a happy birthday by reception staff, no one made any mention of this in the dining room. Neither was she given a special treat for her dessert as has happened in the past. When we mentioned this to the reception staff, my daughter was given a small box of mini cakes as an afterthought, which we could have done without frankly. Furthermore, we were placed at a table right next to the bathroom corridor, and were subjected to awful smells coming from there every time someone opened the bathroom door. These issues have deterred me from visiting Christopher’s in the future.
I could not use the voucher which put a damper on the whole evening, now I am £220 out of pocket , because I had to pay for the meal from my own pocket
I took my friend out for a birthday dinner and we both enjoyed the food here immensely. Fresh and great tasting - the steaks were a big hit, the Chablis was lovely and the Brownie and Cheesecake were gorgeous! Nice vibe and relaxed atmosphere with the added bonus of fabulous cocktails both in the restaurant and martini bar downstairs. Will definitely be going back :)
Outstanding food, exceptional service and immaculate surroundings. Quite expensive but such a lovely treat especially for a special occasion!
The whole experience was fantastic! As a lunchtime gig the vibe in the restaurant was great. Very informal, provided a great backdrop for a get together and chat!
Frequently go to Christopher's pre theatre. It is ideal for this as is in a very good location. Food is very good and service is excellent. There is a lively and upbeat cocktail bar for a pre dinner drink. I'm sure it is also good for a variety of other occasions but I have only been pre-theatre. Would highly recommend.
I have been going to Christophers for over twenty years; it remains our preffered venue for lunches with clients and friends
Food always good, service discreet and timely, and always a good ambience
Chilled atmosphere; good venue for late night meal after theatre. Staff friendly but professional. Love the bar and the winding stone stairway up to the restaurant. Also impressed with the fresh flower arrangements - a nice touch.
Decided to dine here following a visit to the theatre- otd
Service was impeccable. Food very good. French toast chocolate brioche - amazing!!!!
Had a nice brunch at this restaurant, ordered eggs Benedict (with salmon). The salmon, eggs and holandaise sauce were delicious. Bread was a bit dry and slightly stale. Customer service was great, albeit I felt slightly rushed to leave as they needed my table. Lovely restaurant, classy and great ambience.
Fantastic steak, I had the Tasting Steak which is 3 different cuts, each one was lovely quality and all 3 tasted tremendous, all cooked to my liking. The Peppercorn sauce was one of the best I have tasted although the Fries were a bit like Chipsticks! I must add that my wife had Chedder Mash with hers and that was to die for. The Cheeseboard was very good too. We’ve been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. There is a vibrant pre dinner cocktail bar downstairs which is a great place to start your evening.
Lovely brunch with friends. Particularly busy this time but didn't affect service. Friendly staff and prompt service.
Memorable fantastic , bloody Mary's the best! A wonderfully, satisfying pre show lunch x
Great place, with great service, and ambience.
Drinks are top-quality!
The food was terrific. The staff friendly and attentive. My only issue was with side dishes not coming out at the same time as the main dish. One side came out a few minutes after the main and the second side a few minutes after the first side dish. Probably different kitchen sections responsible for different side dishes but it detracted from the main course as you could not fully start until it had all come out. Apart from that I would recommend the restaurant and would go again. Bit costly but nevertheless lovely. Meant to add to the first submitted comment. The USDA fillet at £40 definitely was not 8oz. Or it certainly wasn’t at the start of being cooked. It looked about 5oz cooked. It was tiny which was annoying given the cost.
I have been to Christopher’s before but for dinner. This time, I wanted to try out the Easter special churros and chocolate eggs. I was extremely disappointed and unimpressed. The waiter who present the chocolate eggs to us made a complete mess of the whole thing.
Despite this, I would recommend this place solely based on my dinner experience some years ago which was far better.
Overall experience and food was very good.
Couple of minor complaints:
Eggs Maryland is a tiny portion (one egg, one crab cake) and the poached eggs were solid
Lobster mac and cheese is delicious but very stingy on the lobster
The French Brioche Toast with milk chocolate was amazing!! I'll be coming back very soon to try it with dark chocolate.
Very very disappointing..!!
My steak was extremely tough and it had to be replaced. The second was only marginally better - I ended up leaving half of it.
The starter was a Lobster Bisque which was served stone cold - really not impressive.
My colleague had the crab cake which was full of shell and became very unpleasant.
Really not a good food experience..!! The service was good and the wine was great - but guys your food lets you down given the prices you charge
Had a lovely time the food was great but pricey, but you pay for what you get. I loved the mojito non alcoholic and the brunch was fantastic. Would go here again definitely.
Christopher's is a great steakhouse. White linen and very friendly staff. The meat was super delicious and perfectly prepared. The peppar sauce was great and the tomato and onion salad was magic. We dropped in to dine at our one day stop in London on our way back home to Sweden, from Gran Canaria. Main purpose for the visit was The Lion King but the dinner at Christopher's really made our London visit complete. Go there, you will not regret it!
Our second visit. This restaurant has a lovely, elegant dining room and an interesting menu. However, service was a bit hit and miss and my first course only luke warm. Having said that, the other members of the family thoroughly enjoyed their meals and my main course was good. Expensive for what you get but we were celebrating a birthday pre-theatre and overall, a pleasant meal. Wouldn’t rush back though. , given so many other good restaurants nearby.
We went for Brunch on a Saturday- previously a very happy and civilised occasion. Initial greeting at downstairs reception was chaotic and apologetic but ok. When we reached upstairs it took 3 tries for the greeter to recognise my name. Restaurant was very full and busy and noisy with a number of children. No real problem with that but I’d booked expecting the previous civilised and adult brunch experience, not a family friendly one with cameraphone flashes and selfie snaps every 5 minutes at the next two tables. The waiting staff were excellent and responsive and speed of food service good considering how busy it was. There was crab shell in my crab cakes, but generally food was good. I would still recommend and attend for evenings or private dining (we have had several parties there) but not brunch, which is a great shame.
Delicious food; pleasant and not-too-noisy atmosphere, great service. A great night and will gladly come again
Good meal and cocktails. Waitress in the restaurant was a little frosty with us though. Bar staff were lovely.
Amazing! I met a friend for a catch up and I can not fault this place! We had a main meal and dessert each, with a lot of cocktails. Everything was amazing! The people around us were celebrating birthdays, but we were just celebrating the fact it was Sunday!
Beautiful building, and really well located. We were greeted politely but not memorably. We came for brunch for my mum's 60th birthday, we chose Christophers because of the grand interior and reputation, we wanted something a little special. Food was served quickly and tasted lovely, however it was all only just lukewarm by the time it got to the table, so 5mins into the meal it was pretty much cold. We debated whether to say anything but didnt actually get the chance as no one did a check back with us and when we were finished, the waiter didn't ask us how the meal was, he jusy took the plates. When we didn't order dessert, a member of staff bought over a little takeaway box with some small dessert pieces and said happy birthday to my mum which was nice. We weren't acknowledged when we left though, so all in all in mixed experience. I feel for the grandeur of the building and the prices, a warmer reception and greater attention to customers should be as standard.
Excellent location on edge of Covent Garden. Good atmosphere, food and wines. Friendly staff. Great for lunch and dinner (including pre theatre).
