Excellent experience. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful and of a very high standard. The cocktails were exquisite especially the Bloody Mary.
We had a great Saturday lunch and will definitely be back.
Short staffed which led to very long waiting times. A lot of items were not available. The quality of the food was very poor - for example a tuna tartare came with a greying avocado mousse and a truffle pasta was swimming in oil. One diner’s main course was late and then arrived too al dente to eat. The manager attempted to compensate us by charging us only 50% for one main course and free dessert but overall we should have complained more on the night as we felt the meal (about £75 per head including wine) was poor value.
They are not cheap but the service, food was low grade
And they have mice running around the outside area at the back so yes not good
fun place for lunch and the staff were so accommodating
Food is acceptable but over-priced. Bolognese did not have enough sauce. Zucchini fritti batter was greasy. Chicken Milanese was acceptable.
We’re sat in a small conservatory on our own with the main restaurant one side and garden the other. A coat stand behind us and a view into the toilets. Not ideal.
Also a number of rats were running around the garden past the closed glass conservatory doors during our meal adding to the ambience.
Excellente nourriture très goûteuse service parfait, localisation glamour
Below average and overpriced. Took 40 minutes to bring the food and even though we ordered a starter we got all together.
There were mice in the garden as we were ordering dessert, a little bit off putting! Otherwise a wonderful evening
I love Chucs. The food is excellent and we always have a good time. On this occasion, the service was poor- the server was very sweet but kept forgetting to come to our table and put in our orders so we waited ages to order and ages for our food and drink to arrive. It was their loss as we likely would have ordered more drinks if they had come to our table/if our drinks had not taken so long. I'll still go back though!
This was my first visit to Chucs and I was really disappointed. The food was below average and I have had better for much less. The burrata starter lacked flavour and the pizza and truffle pasta were essentially cold. Not worth the price.
Great food and service!
went on a monday evening to try out Chucs - when we arrived at 7.30 there was no one else there - we were shown downstairs & took our seats - nice cosy atmosphere -- despite being the only people there we had to chase a waitress to order drinks - they were clearly gearing up for a large table of about 12 - which arrived 8ish - staff seemed only able to cope with this one table - we perpetually kept having to ask for service and we gave up on dessert and coffee having sat for another 20 mins with menus and a myriad of staff who seemed to be very good at doing very little except chatting to each other -
The food itself was disappointing for the price -- the bread basket was stale with the bread already beginning to dry out on one side - it had clearly been sitting out all day -- I ordered scampi risotto - which whilst tasty was on a such a shallow dish it was literally about 2 grains of rice thick -- seriously stingy for the hefty price tag poor poor and poor --- whilst they may think they have a captive audience with the local residents - I for sure will not return - the quality of so many places nearby leave Chucs looking like a has been --- perhaps thats why there were so few people in there !!!
Absolutely insane pricing for a casual Italian. Three people shared had three glasses of whispering angel. Then one starter. Three dishes of pasta bolognese. One bottle of chianti (£55, 2nd cheapest bottle on the menu) One drink each. No dessert. £80 a head. At a very basic restaurant. The food was cold. And I saw a mouse running across the floor. Will not go back.
Booked a Birthday Lunch with friends at Chucs for Bank Holiday Monday- May 6th.
I have to say that paying on average £70 per head is on the expensive side.
Drinks here are very expensive and not helped by a wine list where the starting price is £40.
This is Westvbourne Grove and not a michelin restaurant & hence not recommended to have a bottle of wine. Prosecco at £45 per bottle is the most expensive Prosecco I have ever encountered at a restaurant.
Food is good but not exceptional and service - start off with was average and descended into very slow and unresponsive. One thing to note is to charge a cover charge of £2 per person for 3 slices of bread between 5 people is a joke. Only when we all asked about the justification of this charge, did management remove this from the bill. Why introduce this in the 1st place.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT FOR SERVICE OR VALUE FOR MONEY.
Food was good, not amazing! The one thing they really need to work on is customer service!!!!
The food was not good. We are used to a much higher standard at chucs.
extremely expensive for a very simple lunch of basically a soup and salad .... not impressed .
Came here for Easter brunch with my three teenage children. The food was amazing. There were so many delicious choices. They were able to accommodate my son’s nut allergy with no problems. The service was excellent; beginning with the host as soon as we walked in.
Just a great warm authentic neighbourhood Italian. All staff were Italian and the food was just great from start to finish
The food was outstanding overall. The octopus carpaccio, beef carpaccio and tuna tartare were particularly incredible, they are must-haves if you ever go. However the calamari and courgette fritti was oily and quite disappointing. And the amount of calamari was very little comparing to the courgette.
The atmosphere was very good, nice and cozy, we were seated at the garden on the lower ground, it had great daylight and a lovely setting that was nicely decorated. Despite being quite close to the tables around us, we still feel very private and spacious, and the garden area is calm and quiet. The service was very good as well, waitresses and waiters were polite, warm and attentive. One of the waiter was also very helpful when I mentioned my allergy concerns. Overall, we will very much recommend this restaurant.
One minor thing that annoyed us was they sent us an email through OpenTable saying we missed the reservation, when in fact we made the reservation and they even acknowledged and confirmed our OpenTable booking when we arrive at the restaurant. A minor issue, but annoyed us a little.
We were really impressed with the freshness and taste of the good. We particularly liked the Octopus salad.
Margherita, our waitress was exceptionally attentive and remembered all our various changes of choice in the menu!!
Big thank you to the restaurant for a particularly fun filled evening.
Average food and service. The place takes both table cover charge and service charge, which results in 20% in the bill. We have received a wrong bill with our food + some other dishes from the menu. Waiter said "Yes, it is not your bill" and did not even say sorry. Then we were suggested coats that were not ours twice.
Overall average food at a quite high price. Service needs improvement.
Good service and super food
They don't do requests for choosing seats or tables
refreshing ambiance and service. less boujis and more relaxed than the other spots on westbourne grove
Fantastic service and ambience. Great cocktails. Food is pretty good (not incredible like you'd hope for the money) and it is way overpriced.
Good service, truffle spaghetti tasted of dishwater, didn’t complain at the time unfortunately. Kept leaving back door open so quite cold and didn’t pick up on this!
Delicious spot with a great vibe, esp weekend brunch / lunch
The service is great but the food was very bland
Ridiculously overpriced mediocre food
Amazing place! The staff were all very friendly and nice, the food from the brunch menu and coffee were great. And they have a very nice garden too!
Very posh, beautiful ambiance, great for wealthy Ladies who lunch!! A full plate of pasta (that was excellent by the way) for 18 quid is a tad excessive in my view particularly given the quantities served. Service was very good and friendly.
We waited more that an hour for your food because the boiler was broken . We didn’t get any compensation for the disagreement. They didn’t even offer any food while we were waiting. We overpaid for very poor quality food and the restaurant was extremely noisy.
Had the most amazing time at chucs!!! I wine and dined her! We are going out again! Round 2 thanks to chucs! Love it!
Very very good food and impeccable service
Dined here several times and it never disappoints. I'm in love with this restaurant. Bigoli pasta is my favourite. The service is spot on.
Pasta was cold when arrived to the table and was a very small portion after being claimed to be the large size. Charged us the service fees when nothing was eaten from what was provided, and wasn’t asked if we wanted anything.
Food was bland under seasoned and overpriced . Sea bass over cooked .Caponata tasteless , not agrodulce River cafe prices for average high street trattoria cooking.
Ice cream had ice crystals , inedible ( Taken off our bill )
Waitresses friendly but inefficient, Did not appear to work in sections , so asked three different waitresses for water before any appeared .
Cover charge added to bill , really ? when it is £20 for a bowl of pasta .
Wine list very overpriced , no medium priced wine.
Bench seat broke at the end of the meal.
Lovely space, nice staff and fashionable clientele. The food is forgettable so you are even better off going to Carluccios!
Very enjoyable food and atmosphere
