Michael DiBianca is a Culinary Institute of America graduate and New Jersey native who has been a local star in the Wilmington food/dining scene for more than a decade. This local treasure comes to the area from the former Restaurant 821 in Wilmington, where he was owner Tobias Lawry’s sous chef and then chef de cuisine. He went on the launch the renowned Moro restaurant and Satsuma Asian Kitchen & Bar in the Trolley Square area.
Wonderful evening, great menu. Pricey for tapas but portions are larger than expected.
Great food and service. Our second visit in two weeks (that’s how good the food was the first time!) A few that we loved - beef tartare, tuna tartare, roasted beet salad veal parm (not your typical veal parm) and the duck. Great bread pudding too. Very safe environment. We hope they can survive the financial costs of the pandemic!!!

I had been waiting to check Ciro out for a while, finally made reservations with my Mom for my belated B day dinner. Ciro did not disappoint. The atmosphere is quaint, quiet and welcoming. Our server was fantastic! He made excellent recommendations was friendly without being overbearing and made our experience that much better. The food....incredible! The scallops were the best I have ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of scallops. The tuna tarte.....I will go back many times just for that! So glad this gem is close to home!
Chefs tasting menu was amazing! My new favorite restaurant! Definitely worth it!
I want to write a positive review, but I am not able. The food was tasty, but portion size was too big for tasting/tapas. It's fairly expensive, so reducing portions could lower the cost. My biggest criticism is the service. The server was inattentive and condescending. Also, the ambience is terrible. They played country music at a moderate volume. How hard is it to play quiet jazz, or something more relaxing/romantic. If I'm going to spend $150 on a date night meal I want it to be much better than this. We wont be back, unfortunately.

Took my parents for dinner. Was seated 10 min past our reservation time. Got a general sense of confusion from the staff, things felt awkward. The pasta in our mac n cheese was cooked very inconsistently, some cooked through, some almost raw, and some in the middle. The hazelnuts in the other app were quite stale. The two pork mains were incredibly salty, needed water to put down. My feedback was met with minimal acknowledgement and no adjustment to our bill.
Overall, the execution on the food was heavy handed, the space felt cobbled together, and the staff lacked a professional smoothness in service. You get the feeling that its amateurs struggling to operate an up scale restaurant.
Creative cuisine with surprise ingredients that create an explosion of flavor with each mouthful. The fluke with gooseberries was just oustanding, as was the rack of lamb (so tender and flavorful) and the chocolate pot au creme just mouthwatering.
Dined here on Saturday night for the first time. Took a while for the host to check us in, but once we were seated, our server was very good. Very small, slightly tight space, but they make it work. Cannot say enough for the quality and creativity of the food. My husband and I made our own quasi-tasting menu and every course was fantastic. We consider ourselves foodies and this meal delivered. At the end of the meal my husband told me it takes a lot to impress him, and this meal impressed him. Very reasonable pricing considering the quality of the food and portion sizes. Will definitely return.

We were looking forward to dinner at Ciro's, but were very disappointed.
We placed our order (approx. 10-15 minutes after arriving).
It took another 10-15 minutes for our drinks to arrive.
My husband's appetizer was served, mine was not.
We inquired about it & my entree was brought out.
My husband 's duck was served & eventually I was served my appetizer.
Perhaps the restaurant was overwhelmed by the number of patrons on this particular night.
We had an 8:00 reservation and arrived right on time. No one greeted us. There were at least 4 other couples waiting, which seemed unusual because it’s a small restaurant. After waiting a few minutes, several other couples walked in, all of whom also had an 8:00 or 8:15 reservation. It turns out they had overbooked their reservations and had no way to accommodate us all. It’s 8:15 and we still have not been acknowledged by anyone who worked there. So I stopped the hostess and asked how much longer the wait would be for our table - she said they were “swamped”. She didn’t offer complimentary drinks or even an estimated timeframe. At this point we decided to leave - we had a babysitter at home and so we were “on the clock”. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had a a restaurant that I never even dined at. We won’t be back.

I need start with that I have NEVER left a bad review about a restaurant and I travel the US weekly eating out 3-5 times a week. This review is so others do not have to experience what we did.
Checking in: When checking in to the restaurant for our reservation at 7:15 we waited at the hostess area for about 5 minutes before someone from CIRO walked by and said just wait here and we will be with you in a few minutes. Few minutes later someone checked us in and we sat down at our table at 7:20. The restaurant smelled incredible. We were instantly excited to dine.
The first waitress asked us for still or sparkling water and we chose still with lemon slices. We sat for a few minutes reviewing the menu and chose the 6 course tasting menu with the 6 wines to pair. A different waiter arrived and took our order at 7:30. We sat and waited for the food and wine, the waiter filled our glasses a few times with water so we asked for additional lemons. We find out they are now out of lemons. Not a problem, we sat and talked awhile longer and then realize it is 8:05 and we have not been served our first course. At 8:10 the first waitress came to our table and asks us if we are ready to order, this is where it all went downhill. I said to her, we ordered about 50 minutes ago and haven’t received our food. She said ok and walked away. 8:15pm food comes to our table from a different server and they set it down. The food is instantly picked up and told this isn’t yours. It goes to a table that sat down 10 minutes before the food was served to them. I find the waiter who took out order and tell him. He doesn’t apologize but says, “I’ll have food out to you in 2 minutes”. And he comes back in 5 minutes with our first glass of wine. 15 minutes later I get up and find a manger, who is in the front at the bar and said he will look into, he did not stop making drinks for 10min so we walked out. Worst experience.
Drinks were simple yet forgotten both orders. Speaking with servers felts as though we were inconveniencing them. While the food took a while it was top 5 meals I’ve had. Incredibly delicious. Bill was then wrong but nicely amended in our favor.
Dreadful. Arrived on time for reservation, had to wait 10 minutes to check in, another 15 min to be seated. Then sat at the table ignored by all staff for another 25 minutes, then despite the fact it was Valentine’s Day and no other options available we left. We were only given water, could not even get them to get us drinks. Small restaurant, open kitchen so our clothes had a greasy meat smell when we got home - the dogs enjoyed that.
Valentines Day ruined by making a reservation here. Had to go home to eat.
Valentine’s Day Nightmare!
We were really looking forward to going out and having a special dinner! What a bad choice! Can’t believe they call this a fine dining experience. It started off being seated promptly only to have to wait for a half hour before anyone one would come to our table. We were seated next to the silverware Carr which received more action than we did. The waiter was totally unprofessional with little to offer about the menu. He answered our questions and then we sat there another 20 minutes before taking our order. The table next to us had experienced the same thing. And every other table as well. Once the food came out in an order that didn’t make any sense, after another half hour wait,it was extremely lackluster, salty, and lukewarm. We were so frustrated and disappointed. Couldn’t wait to leave!!! This restaurant was one of the worse experiences we ever had. DO NOT EAT THERE! Sooo bad!!!
Everyone we encountered was incredibly kind and interested in helping - it just seemed like there weren’t enough servers to offer timely service on a holiday night. The bacon fried rice was delicious and the shrimp etoufee too! We will return on a non-holiday night!
Would have scored way higher but for service. Sat immediately, order taken for drinks. Ordered 2 glasses of wine (mospt expensive @ $19 each) ant waited 20 min for them. Orders taken. Two items to share. Took 10 min for 1st and 30 for second. Never was asked about more wine or food items. 30 min after finished plates cleared. Another 30 min we just sat. Then asked labout dessert we said yes. Another 20 min never came back. We flagged someone down got dessert. Never asked about more wine, coffee or after dinner drink. (Missed upsell for sure). Asked for check when ordering dessert. Put card on table after telling them we needed to make a concert. Still took another 20 min after card collected to get check. Food was fantastic.. this is the only reason to go back and will be sure to be obnoxious next time so we get service and to order more wine.
This is a great little gem. The food is always imaginative , and perfectly prepared and presented. The influence of the former chef/owner at Moro is evident. The portions are not the obscene "SuperSize" which has become the norm, and the wine offerings and pairings are excellent and reasonably priced. We are multiple-repeat "offenders."
Food was amazing. It did take a while to initially get a server. Once the server made it to the table, the service was good.
The food is amazing!!!!!! The only thing I would like is if the lights were just a little it lower. But, we will be going back ASAP! Yum!!!

Quaint and unpretentious. The escargot was excellent and cooked perfectly and uniquely prepared with a bit of spice and delicious bread. Salmon pastrami - loved the name and tasted just right with nice crusty rye bread. The rib-eye was very good - would have like a bit more kick in the chimichurri sauce. For dessert we had the pistachio creme brulee, which was outstanding.

Ciro is a gem on the riverfront. I was seriously surprised at how good the food was. We had the gnocchi salad, short rib, tuna special, and chocolate tart. All were amazing. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!!

This place is amazing. The food is delicious with an ever evolving menu based on ingredients’ seasonality. The service is top notch. This is the best restaurant in Wilmington.

The food on the tasting menu was exquisite, unique and well balanced flavors. Everything was perfectly cooked and the complexity of flavors was excellent. The service though was slow at the beginning courses (the time between receiving the first course, and then between first and second courses, was very long), and then sped up for the last few courses. But once this is corrected, this will definitely be a place we revisit time and again.
Service was impeccable! The chef’s tasting menu was delicious and worth the money! We will definitely be returning soon.
So many wonderful choices, it’s tough to decide. What a great problem to have for dinner! After reading all the positive reviews, we had to try the gnocchi salad and it was excellent. We also enjoyed the Artichoke Parmesan, Prosciutto wrapped Veal Loin, and New Jersey Scallops from the special New Year’s Eve truffle menu. The scallops were awesome. The veal was very good too - a generous portion, hearty and filling. Beware - the artichokes were very spicy with plenty of red pepper flakes. I really appreciated the wine pairing recommendations and enjoyed a Chardonnay. If you can, save room for dessert. The Cheesecake served in an edible waffle cup was light and tasty. Plenty of other exciting options to enjoy on our next visit.
Wow - my son, his girlfriend and I sat up at the bar to celebrate New Year's Eve......the 8 course meal was over the top!!!! Each course just kept getting better and better.

Our first time here and we decided to be adventurous and do a tasting menu. After receiving assurances it would not have sweetbreads or bone marrow, we got the 4 course which was plenty of food. The first course was a heavenly smoked salmon mousse-ish dish beautifully plated with crunchy fried capers - divine, clean plates both. The black bass second dish was equally wonderful, also clean plates. The 3rd course was Veal loin and had wonderful accompaniment also, though it was less interesting that the first 2. Typically a meal course will be the most flavorful, kind of cool that it wasn't actually. The dessert was a key lime cheesecake with caramel in a sugar cone with chocolate cover and not too sweet. It was made perfect by a brilliant compote on the side of raspberry with raw apples inside the sauce with tangy crunch! We also had a Maine Woods and Waters IPA beer which was rare and wonderful. Kudos to the chef! My only complaint is the seating is uncomfortable.

Ciro is a hidden gem with great food and a wonderful wine selection. The tuna tartare was outstanding as was the crab cake. Service was attentive and great help in the wine selection process.
