Claude Bosi at Bibendum
Every dish was wonderful inventive and and flavorful with top-notch ingredients. Best meal I've had in London.
Perfectly nice in every way but nothing really stood out as mouthwateringly delicious especially given the eyewateringly high bill. The staff were attentive, courteous and friendly however the food tried hard without truly succeeding. A lot of near misses. Dried scalop that tasted of dessicated orange peel. Rabbit and langoustine that proved to be a not quite conflictful but somewhat dull marriage. The coffee infused sweetbread was well crisped but the overridiing flavour was of burnt something. Nuts, coffeebans, sommething not quite indetifiable.
If you have something to celebrate, or just want to eat something that will delight your palate and your eyes - this is the perfect place to go. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food sublime and the restaurant itself is a piece of decorative history. Wonderful!
Outstanding in every way ...would not hesitate to recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely delightful experience in many ways. Tremendous sommelier. Wonderful service. Friendly and attentive staff. Spectacular presentation. Inventive/creative flavors. Disappointing on the red mullets. Undercooked despite a second attempt. And simply not tasty. A bit overpriced.
Best place we’ve been to in London. Went to a couple more Michelin star restaurants during the weekend, and this is by far the best. Each dish was a rejuvenating surprise with delicate flavors. Beautifully arranged...
We will definitely return for more.
Excellent! The food and service was fantastic and even better the chefs were there and for a worthy cause!
The food was delicious, as expected, and the service impeccable, as expected. You get very good value for your money (except for the wines, always outrageously overpriced in this kind of restaurant) plus everything else you would expect from a true 2 Michelin stars restaurant. Overall, a very good experience.
Delicious food flawless in its presentation. Everything was amazing and stunning in its presentation. All courses amazing in taste, texture and presentation. The perfect place to be wined and dined on my birthday.
I always love Bibendum, and it was nice to meet Claude himself. The room is light, airy, and friendly. The staff are knowledgeable and willing without pestering. It feels like a good local restaurant, though the food served is anything but ordinary. I know people have ethical concerns, but this place does some serious foie gras. The lobster in Singapore pepper sauce is also exceptional. The star of this trip was probably an amuse bouche of seaweed pastry, miso custard, yuzu gel, and cockles. Generally, Bibendum does that neat trick of allowing a person to have a unique and adventurous dining experience without feeling intimidating. It’s very impressive.
On Open Table, even the local pub is given five-stars by some raters. Thus it seems insufficient to give just five stars to a world-class restaurant like this. Claude Bosi and his staff excel in every aspect - food, wine, service, ambiance. Pure excellence - nothing more need be said.
The service is really outstanding, coupled with a wonderful series of taste sensations this is one of our favourite restaurants anywhere.
Lovely place have to have a Sunday roast on a warm summer's day. Claude's French influence shines through brilliantly on the British classic, much like the sun beams through the iconic Michelin window panes into the comfortable and classy dining room. My only criticism is that whilst the artistry of the dishes was intriguing, it could prove a slight distraction from the spectacular flavours.
Perfect evening, from greeting on arrival to generosity on departure, and everything in between
Service ,meal quality, flavours, timings, it was the all round package
Amazing food as always. One of the most innovative restaurants we've been to. Service is extremely professional as expected but a little patchy on the evening we went - service felt a little cold and mechanical and our pudding had to be redone as the first attempt apparently didn't go to plan (so we were told when we eventually asked). Obviously things don't always go to plan but perhaps not quite what you expect from a two Michelin starred restaurant. At the end of the day, one has to remember this is relative and it is still an extremely exceptional meal.
Excellent food and a personal touch including a personal greeting of the chef.
Probably one of the most iconic dining rooms in London with great food and service to match. Good range of wines by the glass or bottle. Suitable for business and romantic dining
Second visit and again great food, stunning food, with wonderful seasonal ingredients
Absolutely amazing experience! The staff was phenomenal and the food was beyond reproach!
We celebrated a big birthday there and enjoyed the food surprises especially! The staff were competent and entertaining and created a special experience that we’ll definitely remember as well. The unusual food combinations and the presentations were unexpected and witty.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and was a wonderful experience. We had my two year old daughter with us and they did everything to make our experience as a family a memorable one.
Fabulous experience .... unique combination of flavors ... superb service ....
Went with a friend and we were both looking forward to the meal on a Friday evening. Beautiful building, staff were friendly and welcoming, large spacious dining room, however this contributed to a lack of atmosphere. Ultimately we book the restaurant for the food, which was well cooked and used quality ingredients, one particular dish of sweetbread glazed in coffee was not to our liking and did not think it was at all well balanced flavour pairing. Overall the food and experience was underwhelming and came at a premium price. In my opinion, there are currently many more London restaurants worth visiting, that offer better food and value for money. This is a real shame to write this review as we had been looking forward to eating here seen Claude Bosi took over.
Possibly the most amazing cooking and service in London at the present time - most definitely worth a visit !!!!
Outstanding food and presentation throughout the meal. Wine measures questionable, as not measured!! Service not great at all and definitely not worth the additional £95 service charge on our bill. Sommelier indistinct and difficult to understand. Felt we were unimportant compared with other guests, seated in a corner, out of the main body of the restaurant and generally ignored although we always love to engage. Also, a few mistakes made. Perhaps we should have made more fuss? Dropped canapes on our table. Forgot service of fish course, resulting in long wait. Not perfect and as it was a very special return visit to one of our favourite London restaurants of all time, a bit disappointing.
Went with my son to Bibendum for Father’s Day lunch.
We used to regularly go to Bibendum on Sundays for fish and chips, Sunday roast or something more exotic before Bibendum changed hands.
On this occasion we ordered from the a la carte menu, starter, main course and desert.
Ordered a £30 bottle of wine.
We were gobsmacked when the bill came! A whopping £350!
Food was average if not disappointing and strongly resembled “nouvelle cuisine” of the 80’s in its scarcity and pretentiousness.
Shame, we won’t be returning there again under its present ownership.
The food was very high quality.Very nice chef.....
Amazing staff and incredibly attentive without being overbearing. It has a sense of calmness about the place and lots of character. The Michelin butter tray was superb. Claude came to greet all the tables which adds a personal touch that is rare in this kind of establishment.
I took my wife for her Birthday, she loves flavours and Claude Bosi was everything I'd hoped for. I've not been in the building this millenium but it's now in beautiful condition. We started with a lovely glass of Champagne whilst we considered the menu and the Chef came out and was speaking to all his customers. It's great that the name is actually running the place.
The staff were really top notch, they stood out both with their enthusiasm for the job and their quiet care of the customer. My wife has a bad back and the initial chair didn't have a high enough back to support her, a request to change the chair was made that the waitress quietly and efficiently carried out.
When you are somewhere like Claude Bosi you need people to guide you through things and from the amuse bouches to the desert, we had a seem less stream of information that was enough to enhance our pleasure with out feeling we were being lectured.
I had the rabbit as main and the chicken as starter with Vacherin for dessert. All were top notch and all had more than expected. I hope the staff get as much pleasure making the dishes as I had eating them.
The experience was not cheap but it was worth it. A fantastic experience congratulations to Claude and all his team.
Presentation of the meal was superb. Beautifully prepared and worth every pence
We had the surprise tasting menu and each course was a gastronomical delight. A lovely touch was that Chef Bosi came out and presented several courses to us himself and asked for feedback and checked we were enjoying ourselves. An outstanding evening.
Great atmosphere, very attentive and great food. Beautiful building itself with lovely finishing touches with all the courses.
The food was exceptional with incredible flavours and the service great. Of course the decoration is in the Bibendum years / style and it’s nice but banquets/seats deserve to be a little more confortable and napkins of a nicer quality (mine had a stain, the one that can’t disappear anymore) on it.
Dropped food, dropped silver, corked wine, wrong wine, spilled wine. A comedy of blunders. Food ok. Not clear how this place rates two stars yet alone one. Much better places in London.
Truly remarkable food, well cooked, diverse and surprising dishes, beautifully served in a gorgeously decorated setting. Its two stars are well deserved (though the amuse bouches and the rabbit were closer to three stars to be fair). Great service as well, just the right amount of attention to make you feel special without getting annoying. Will definitely become one of our favourites for special occasions.
Incredible food. Perfect service.
Divine, just divine. Amuses bouches full of delectable surprises, delicious And beautifully presented food, impeccable service and really lovely to be in the dining room on a sunny day and experience those fabulous Michelin stained glass windows in their full glory
Anniversary of a major operation
It’s the 3 rd time I go and it is always a fantastic experience both for the welcoming the ambiance the food the surprise for each mouthful. And the wines and....... everything. I would recommend it to my friends.
