DELICIOUS food... and the wine was really interesting!
We really enjoyed our meal at Clipstone on Saturday evening. The menu is small but covers all food groups and was both delicious and beautifully presented. It felt healthy as well as tasty. The staff were charming and, although a buzzy, quite noisy atmosphere, we could talk. The restaurant is very casual in decor, it has a real neighbourhood vibe. Enjoyed very much.
Great food but the wine not
as always superb never disappoints, busy , food always exciting and delicious, excellent service
Great food as per last time but very disappointing how many times during phone confirmations of reservation and during table service itself, we were made aware and reminded over and over about how there was another booking at our table after ours. I understood the time frame the first time I was told. The repetition caused stress and sadly ruined my experience.
Great food, service and wine list. Second time there, I would definitely go back.
I found my menu choices well prepared but small. After a starter and a main course I was still hungry, which is unusual for me. I found it quite expensive for the size of the portions.
The food was very good and the service was efficient and friendly. It is a noisy restaurant. Lots of hard surfaces and not helped by loud, bass, thuddy music which, in our opinion, was unnecessary given the level of conversation.
Great service, food was superb. Portion sizes were sufficient and waitstaff were really nice and friendly.
Lunch for the parents. Everything was exquisite. Will be returning again to try out the dinner experience 😊
Clipstone is now one of my most favourite restaurants. The food is delicious and the menu always well balanced and focused on seasonal ingredients. The service is efficient, friendly and charming. Great wine list. Lovely informal ambience. A very special experience every time. These people care about their customers and their food!
Food and service really excellent. However noise and proximity of tables a problem.
Food was outstanding. We not small complaint is, I think they gave us a custard tart that was a few days old and kept in the fridge. The tart looked beautiful with thin golden pastry but when we ate it, the pastry was soft and stale, not buttery, crisp or crumbly, but soft and stale! We went on a Monday night and it would appear we were served the leftover tart. The filling and rhubarb were yummy but again, pastry was huge letdown.
The food was really good and very refined. We have enjoyed our moment and will definitely come back!
Just wonderful food in a very relaxed atmosphere
Geth and Nadine run this place brilliantly.
Food, drink, service, ambience all 5*.
(But don’t tell anyone about this sensational restaurant - we don’t want everyone to know how good it is!).
just great as usual , friendly efficient and most importantly great food
I’d definitely revisit Clipstone, the food was lovely.
The service felt a little instrusive and hurried but I guess that might be because they were close to closing after the lunch time serice.
It also seemed pretty pricey (£156) given 2 of us had the 3 courses for £26 and 1 of us had 2 courses for £22. Yes, we all had a (single) glass of wine each, a nibbles plate, bread and 3 coffees but still seemed expensive given the set menu prices.
Lovely dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Nice and busy for a Monday night. Food is delicious! Portions are small but nice.
2nd or 3rd time we have just gone to Clipstone for an early evening dinner. Food is always good and they are dry welcoming. also choice of wine in half bottle carafes means easy to have bothe white and re wine for two of us. Staff always helpful nad atmosphere buzzy without being too noisy. Thanks
Top rate British modern cooking, in similar vein to St John but much more balanced. Delicious and wonderful wine list, all available by glass, half or full bottle which is great, including the very lovely Au Bon Climat, which I've not seen elsewhere.
Thoroughly enjoyable meal with very attentive service. One of those menus where you could have gone for anything and would have been happy. The chocolate mousse was outstanding!
Excellent food and service. When serving a gin and tonic it would be preferable if the tonic was left unpoured, my gin was drowned in a whole bottle of tonic.
Best restaurant I’ve been to in ages. Food is incredible !!!!
We had a really lovely supper after a matinee showing. Ther service was great and the food was delicious. The wine was also great and the price was affordable for such a smart place!
exceljent menu and foid delicious. however my husband's wallet disappeared from the table during our meal.
Wonderful creative cooking - beautifully presented. Enjoyed everything immensely.
Lunch set menu excellent value.
Restaurant rather cramped and a bit on the noisy side but food more than compensates.
It was buzzy and the food was excellent - everything we ate was delicious - service was very friendly.
Nice buzz, very smiley staff, very nice food, does corkage which is a huge bonus for me. Would have liked one more meat option on the mains... but thoroughly enjoyed it and very good value.
Cheery service, interesting modern British cooking and good value. I can still remember the custard tart. A modest title for a simple but delicious confection.
Great food and service. Would recommend it. We chose a slightly odd wine but we were warned that it was different so it was our risk.
The sort of place you don’t want to tell anyone about.
A small neighbourhood style restaurant serving flavour-packed food, with exemplary service.
Can’t say enough good things about this total winner of an eatery. One of my favourite spots in the big city.
Excellent lunch, just need to vary the menu a little more. A little rushed at lunch, but the quality of the ingredients makes up for it all.
The design and ambience within this this restaurant is very nice and inviting. The menu is British New cuisine inspired. This could have been perfect but unfortunately too many details in the condiments were not; perfect fish accompanied with spinach with wood like stalks to (nice and soft) leaves, nuts (everywhere) too hard, and some signature tastes defining a condiment were not easy to detect. A bit pricy which means you should aim a bit higher.
An excellent dinner. Imaginative menu, great wine list and attentive service. Can’t ask for much more than that.
A wonderful lunch. A warm welcome, delicious food cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and full of flavour. Looking forward to my next visit.
would get more stars if it was better value for money.
slightly more meal choices on the menu would help also
Just terrific - set lunch is inventive and delicious, as well as being great value. Hosting two Parisians who were equally impressed and insisted on dessert.
Everything was excellent: Food and service was perfect. I would have rated 5 stars if it wasnt for the horrible napkins which left white lint marks on both my and my friend black trousers. A small detail but it was annoying.
