Since we are a very small restaurant, we will need your table back after 1 hours and 30 minutes at lunch and 1 hour 45 minutes in the evening, which will be ample time to enjoy what we offer. Should you require a little longer or it’s a special occasion, may we cheekily suggest Portland (!) just around the corner…
Clipstone is a new neighbourhood restaurant located on the corner of Clipstone Street in Fitzrovia.
We offer the same focus on high-quality cooking, wine and service as our sister restaurant Portland but in a more informal setting.

Clipstone Ratings and Reviews
Great place to get together with friends/family as their portions are usually for sharing and you will be able to enjoy a variety of dishes. They have an interesting wine selection as well. This place has a good atmosphere and is value for money. I would definitely recommend this place. Although the service wasn't bad, I felt that the staff lacked a certain warmth that would have enhanced the patrons' experience at the restaurant.
Clipstone is a new generation venue, focused on ingredients and provenance. You have an impression being in Shoreditch and not in Mayfair/Fizrovia. The decor is casual but intelligent and chic. Simply Delicious. One minus- dont sit next to the kitchen as the air extraction system blows right into your face.
Clipstone is exceptional in London. No glitz - no glam - no pretense - but the kitchen confidently produces some of the best tasting fresh original cooking ever encountered in a non Michelin restaurant. Complemented by mother’s best selection of wines by the glass or bottle. My advice is to book early and book often. You will be very happy.
There are many good restaurants in London without a doubt but few with a genuine neighborhood feel because it's where locals go to. Clipstone is that special restaurant where you have good food yes but what sets it apart is the service and ambience of 'familiarity' and 'comfort' because it just feels that way. No pretentiousness which was really nice. Will definitely come back.
This is my favorite restaurant in London. The perfect balance of outstanding, creative and well-considered cuisine plus exceptional care and hospitality in a warm, neighborly setting, with excellent and interesting wine, as well. I would rather be nowhere else in London.
My fifth visit and still as fresh and creative as when I first went. Tried the set selection for the first time, not cheap but well worth it. Standout dishes; monkfish carpaccio, the vege ravioli and the meringue with the sorrel and green tea sauce. Friendly, very knowledgable waitress. Great wine.
Really enjoyed this restaurant. It has a very cosy local feel despite being a stone's throw from busy Oxford Street.
We went for the "feasting menu" and glad we did.Everything from the bread through to the 2 desserts were delicious
The table next to ours complained the pace of the dishes coming out of the kitchen was too fast but we thought it was just perfect!
Modern, not stuffy, friendly and delicious interesting food
We visit London from Scotland a few times a year, and like staying in the Marylebone area. We've been to sister restaurant Portland a couple of times, and enjoyed it, so wanted to try Clipstone. We loved it! It's small, buzzy and - most importantly - both the service and the food were wonderful. I particularly appreciated the way that the staff dealt with an error I'd made with our booking; although it was my fault entirely, they couldn't have been nicer and made us feel at ease from the moment we walked in the door. Thank you all so much!
This was the first time my husband and I have been to Clipstone but we'll definitely be going back. The food was excellent - really fresh , tasty with some unusual flavour combinations that worked so well. The service was very relaxed but attentive and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere on a busy Saturday night.
While you make your menu choices, I'd recommend trying a rhubarb G&T. We had a faultless dining adventure with house pickles (sensibly suggested by our waitress) and rillettes, sea bass crudo, sardine and squid ink tempora, octopus, sweetbreads and finally snails with bone marrow. Our second visit and will definitely be returning.
Lunch here brightened up a wet miserable day. Good ingredients, freshly prepared with interesting combinations. Especially enjoyed the sardines in squid ink tempura, ricotta and pea ravioli and octopus. A main of Cornish plaice was big enough to share between two. Very friendly efficient service with good wine recommendation (white Priorat).
I was with a non-meat eating friend, so next time will need to sample the meat options which also looked appealing!
We have eaten at the Clipstone several times. On each occasion the service has been charming and the food outstanding. However on this occasion none of the familiar serving team were there and both serving staff came over as abrasive and on one occasion positively rude. Sardines in squid ink batter and ravioli of ricotta and peas were delicious. The plaice with carrots was more about the look of the plate than taste and suffered from an overpowering excess of beurre blanc. The sweetbreads had only been browned on one side and were undercooked and the whole plate over rich and greasy.
We have loved this place and recommended it frequently to friends. I really hope this particular meal was just a blip.
Love it here, the whole experience is great.
The staff are so helpful from start to finish.
The schedule of menu suggestions to the wine suggestions were pretty spot on and didn't overdo the whole eating experience.
The rabbit rillettes starter and the octopus summer plate were outstanding!
The only tiny let down for me was the macchiato at the end of the meal, which was far too bitter.
Otherwise though, amazing!!
We went for the 'Leave it to us' menu which was outstanding - they even took account of my husband's dislike of chicken to give us the steak option instead which was definitely a good deal, so they are not rigid about what they provide. They restrict your time there because it's so popular but one and three quarter hours was plenty of time for us without feeling rushed. Tables are quite close together but it wasn't a problem for us. Would definitely go again - had never heard of some of the wines but the one we chose with good help from the waitress was excellent and very much to our taste.
