We offer three different seating options: our tables, stools at our window counter or - weather permitting - bench seats at our larger outdoor communal tables.
Please be aware: Outdoor tables are available only if the weather permits. We may not have an alternative table available inside in some instances.
As we are a very small restaurant, we will need your table back after 1 hours and 30 minutes at lunch and 1 hour 45 minutes in the evening, which will be ample time to enjoy what we offer. Should you require a little longer or it’s a special occasion, may we cheekily suggest Portland (!) just around the corner…
Clipstone is a new neighbourhood restaurant located on the corner of Clipstone Street in Fitzrovia.
We offer the same focus on high-quality cooking, wine and service as our sister restaurant Portland but in a more informal setting.
The food was soooooooo good and the place is super cute
Excellent lunch menu. Very good value. Yellow beetroot, steak tartare, quince bakewell all particularly good. Friendly staff. A little on the cool side.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner here, the service was just fab, they made an effort to make you feel special. The food was all 5* and decent portions. The mille feuille was incredible! Thank you
Fantastic! Attentive staff, delicious cocktails, great wine list and food to die for. Loved it!
Love this place. Food just gets better and better. Fantastic service great wine list. The lunch menu is very good and great value
Visiting London for our 30th wedding anniversary and found this gem! Greated with a hand written anniversary card on our table! Fabulous wine list. Ordered fresh tomato appetizer and also arancini. Both spectacular! Main dishes were haunches of venison and ravioli. My husband raved with every bite of the venison! Raviolli was andante and delicious! Shared a pear pithivier (tart) with ginger ice cream to die for!! Exceptional service, fresh bright setting...top notch!
This is a favourite place in London, always reliable, great food for dinner with friends, friendly and helpful service
Second positive visit within a month. Consistently good. Set lunch menu good value. Lovely wines. Nice server. Tables so close together have to move them if need to get out.
Excellent and very tasty menu from a short but varied menu. Bread fantastic. Dessert also very good
Good service and knowledgable staff
Fantastic all-round experience. Our lateness was dealt with exceptionally well and our outdoor table was a boon. Wine/service/food was all impeccable - and we're tough customers.
A good foodie friend introduced me to this place and have been twice before with him and loved it. On this occasion I took a visiting friend who is also a well travelled gastronaut. My friend loved every plate and particularly enjoyed the lack of pretention on the plate, warmth of staff and backstreet ambience which collectively let all the the important stuff do the talking. Sublime.
I would request more vegetarian dishes on the menu
Delicious food and very nice staff who clearly enjoy the job and know a lot about food and wine.
Menu is always exciting. Just 4 starters and 4 mains to choose from, but always hard to pick just one of each. Fortunately there were four of us so we got a bit of a cross-section.
Starters were the highlights - Beef tartare and ceviche. Mains were good, but my ricotta and walnut ravioli lacked filling and the duck with cherry and apple was a little too tart. Hoggett was excellent.
An outstanding meal, beautiful wine and fantastic service. Only slightly marred by a very loud foursome next to us. I am already planning my return.
Outstanding food at a very reasonable price. Interesting wine list. Service was friendly and excellent. Rivals its big brother, The Portland, round the corner.
Great friendly service, eith fresh seasonal food. A great lunch, and would recommend.
Friendly, cool restaurant with good menu and excellent service. Good wine list and all quite reasonable for London. A trendy Amsterdam-style restaurant but in London!
We were disappointed in Clipstone having eaten at other restaurants in this stable. Bread and desserts were excellent as was wine but service was very sluggish - maybe student holiday cover but indifferent and overcharged on the bill.
Main courses were both disappointing - Bream with overly sweet carrot puree and a limp, lime beurre blanc all tasted bland and sickly though fish properly cooked.
Walnut ravioli lovely but drowned in a strong tomato sauce so the walnuts were wasted though both were well cooked just not good bedmates. We gave this feedback to the waiter at the time.
Really needs somebody to taste these dishes and sense check the combinations!
Fantastic small sharing plates. Great ingredients.
Great service with excellent food served I’m a very casual and relaxed atmosphere
Casual, upscale, senasational.
Sublime food. Nothing else needs to be said!!
Although food was late the treatment was fantastic and the food was great.
This is the fourth time I have been to Clipstone and the food and service just gets better and better. A relaxed aproach but very professional. This is my favourite restaurant
I use Clipstone for a nice lunch every week or so as a little treat to myself.
Lunchtime Menu is imaginative and great value and truly delicious; their Hoggart is just to die for.
Delicious place for dinner with friends, loved everything we had and enjoyed sitting outside
Loved the keg wines : the food was spot on and enjoyed the happy service
Food OK (not for the price), VERY, VERY rushed service. Snack, starter, cocktail, main happened withing 25 minutes. Made me feel want to get out as soon as...
Great atmosphere, amazing food and friendly service. Just what I was looking for in a restaurant!
The Chef’s palate is top notch. Inventive (which is hard these days) but not OTT. Classic flavour combinations with a little twist. Nicely plated, pretty but not overly fussy. Ambience is relaxed, you can go dressed up or casual and everyone feels at home. Fun wine, cocktail and soft drink specials. Even with just two dining you can try lots of dishes, for two I recommend 2or3 snacks, 2or3 starters and a main to share. I’ve tried perhaps 20 dishes here and only 1 or 2 have been anything less than excellent. One of my favourite London restaurants.
A really exceptional meal, in a lovely room. Very fairly priced for a venue of such quality. Highly recommend
Incredible value for money on the set lunch menu. Delicious food, beautifully presented. The cocktails were great as well. I would definitely recommend Clipstone for a relaxed, perfectly balanced meal in a great environment.
Excellent service and food - they made my birthday dinner very special!
The hoggat sauce was burnt and all the dishes came out from the kitchen too quickly, it seemed a fast-food restaurant.
Great first meal in London while on holiday. Great dishes, fantastic attentive service and cozy atmosphere. Loved it!
Second visit here, having loved our first time. Once again we found the food to be imaginative, interesting and consistently delicious. This time we loved the Octopus Croquettes, the Rillettes were top notch, the beef puffs mouth-watering, and we all loved the clever take on Saltimbocca. The friends I introduced to the place were chatting about when we could return as we left...
Excellent food and service. The food was well prepared and interesting! We will be back on our next trip to London
Good relaxed place, for carefully cooked food that is a little bit different without being faddie.
Delicious food , buzzy atmosphere & great service ....
