We offer three different seating options: our tables, stools at our window counter or - weather permitting - bench seats at our larger outdoor communal tables.
Please be aware: Outdoor tables are available only if the weather permits. We may not have an alternative table available inside in some instances.
As we are a very small restaurant, we will need your table back after 1 hours and 30 minutes at lunch and 1 hour 45 minutes in the evening, which will be ample time to enjoy what we offer. Should you require a little longer or it’s a special occasion, may we cheekily suggest Portland (!) just around the corner…
Clipstone is a new neighbourhood restaurant located on the corner of Clipstone Street in Fitzrovia.
We offer the same focus on high-quality cooking, wine and service as our sister restaurant Portland but in a more informal setting.
Great atmosphere, amazing food and friendly service. Just what I was looking for in a restaurant!
The Chef’s palate is top notch. Inventive (which is hard these days) but not OTT. Classic flavour combinations with a little twist. Nicely plated, pretty but not overly fussy. Ambience is relaxed, you can go dressed up or casual and everyone feels at home. Fun wine, cocktail and soft drink specials. Even with just two dining you can try lots of dishes, for two I recommend 2or3 snacks, 2or3 starters and a main to share. I’ve tried perhaps 20 dishes here and only 1 or 2 have been anything less than excellent. One of my favourite London restaurants.
A really exceptional meal, in a lovely room. Very fairly priced for a venue of such quality. Highly recommend
Incredible value for money on the set lunch menu. Delicious food, beautifully presented. The cocktails were great as well. I would definitely recommend Clipstone for a relaxed, perfectly balanced meal in a great environment.
Excellent service and food - they made my birthday dinner very special!
The hoggat sauce was burnt and all the dishes came out from the kitchen too quickly, it seemed a fast-food restaurant.
Second visit here, having loved our first time. Once again we found the food to be imaginative, interesting and consistently delicious. This time we loved the Octopus Croquettes, the Rillettes were top notch, the beef puffs mouth-watering, and we all loved the clever take on Saltimbocca. The friends I introduced to the place were chatting about when we could return as we left...
Excellent food and service. The food was well prepared and interesting! We will be back on our next trip to London
Good relaxed place, for carefully cooked food that is a little bit different without being faddie.
Delicious food , buzzy atmosphere & great service ....
First visit to Clipstone. Took my daughter for lunch after completing her GCSE’s. It’s a perfect little restaurant, superb set lunch menu, friendly and informative staff, superb food and fabulous wine menu. Cannot wait to return!
Clipstone never disappoints.
It is friendly, understated and unpretentious but beyond these virtues the food is glorious.
Delicious and interesting food with great service.
We had a wonderful dinner at Cliptstone. Good food and service. The quail starter was excellent.
The food is imaginative and delicious, the atmosphere is relaxed and the service is both fun and attentive. I really like it here
Enjoyed a wonderful summery lunch with friends at Clipstone. Service attentive without being intrusive. Food excellent - and great value.
I booked two counter seats for my daughter and I at the Clipstone on a whim. The menu is short but has some very interesting dishes. I had the Aberdeen Angus steak tartare which was light and delicious and not like any tartare I’ve had before and followed it with Peking Duck which was really tasty. My daughter had the ravioli as a main and something from the snack menu that I can’t remember but which she enjoyed immensely. We followed this with the apricot bakewell dessert with honeycomb ice cream. Memorable for all the right reasons. Portions were not big and the food was not cheap but I have to say I would go back anytime and expect to have a beautifully presented, tasty meal served by really nice and interested waiting staff.
Food was great as was wine, but the service very lacking - took a while to get things, but moreover my friend is lactose intolerant and asked that there be no dairy.
His first dish arrived with cream on it so we had to send it back, and he ended up quite sick after the second dish he ate.
Disappointing as I love this place
Always a pleasant experience. Inspired and delicious dishes, good wines, great people. A safe place to dine
Some of the best cooking in a long time - innovative without being pretentious or losing the focus on taste. Stunning dishes. Can be a little noisy when it gets going, so maybe go early if that's an issue.
Pleasant evening. Friendly staff. Enjoyable food. Just what we were looking for.
The staff were lovely, the space is airy and light (and not too noisy), and the food is kind of minimalistic and delicious.
Nice food, natural ingredients and limited, focused menu for freshness. The noise level is however a minus - difficult to have a nice conversation around dinner without having to shout (and we were on a Tuesday evening). This is probably due to having large tables accomodating many people very close to others. All in all, a bit pricey for the experience.
Really good food and service. This is a very well run restaurant with passionate front of house that are knowledgable and very friendly. All the dishes are seasonal and very well executed, I will be back soon!
As always excellent service and food that looks quite simple but tastes fantastic.
Nice little place, close to Regent’s Park. Food was exceptionally good. Wines are good value. Would come again!
Booked in for a birthday lunch and was not disappointed. The set menu was delightfully creative, but also relatively reasonably priced, for a special occasion. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. Would happily recommend.
Set lunch menu was great, and I thought good value for the quality. Friendly/efficient staff, speedy service despite being very busy. Nice lunch atmosphere
Excellent food and service - highly recommended
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Nice cosy restaurant with a casual ambience. Service was good although maybe on occasion a little too rushed and that may be due to the 2 hour time slot. Food was lovely especially my hake. Overall a very good evening although I would say a little pricey at £80 per head.
Great venue, attentive and friendly service. Good food, though a couple more veggie options would be nice. Awesome G&Ts!
Though bustling even late on a Sunday evening, the highly over-qualified kitchen team who cook each dish to its absolute perfection of doneness and flavors, turned out masterpieces of casual dining. It ought not be this good for the sheer volume of cooking that is executed in such a timely fashion. The head of the kitchen, even on a Sunday night had worked in restaurants in France and then at Portland restaurant for the same group. Was that you, Stuart Andrew? Also the wine list was very interesting and though limited quite appropriate for the menu. I selected a refreshing and flavorful wine made in Abruzzo from white Pecorino grapes to start and it worked deliciously with the first courses I ordered. Also, enjoy the Riecine Chianti Classico by the glass, alone or with the Hogget!
Staff were super attentive and made celebrating my partner’s birthday here very memorable! The radish and cream was my fav dish!
2nd time at Clipstone and it was even better this time. Amazing food, drinks and service!
Awesome overall. I was my second visit and it didn’t disappoint.
However I had two guests with food allergies - one gluten free and one what/dairy intolerance. The chef did forget that we had a friend with a dairy intolerance and so added Parmesan to the asparagus- it was comped which was appreciated- however, a bit more care would have made this a five star service rating.
Great food & atmosphere, highly recommend
We’ve been meaning to go to Clipstone for a while - and fully lived up to expectations. Outstanding food and good edit (and surprisingly value for money) wine list.
An absolutely fantastic meal, one of the best I’ve had in London
Clipstone is a cute, quite intimate restaurant. The menu is quite small but it does have a good mix of offerings. Unfortunately we weren't informed of the specials and there wasn't a board anywhere listing them, so we missed out on the scallops. However, aside from that the service was good with an attentive waiter. It was tricky to get a recommendation from the waitress though which was a shame, especially given as the staff was small and the menu isn't vast.
There was a bit of a tendency toward modern ingredients there for affect rather than flavour (for example toasted buckwheat on the ravioli didn't bring a lot to the dish).
It was great to see a proper bar in the restaurant and the cocktails were tasty and well-priced.
Overall it was a pleasant experience but I'm not sure it's somewhere I'd recommend and I wouldn't return for a second visit.
This is my 2nd visit to Clipstone. The unique food pairings and service are exceptional. The only thing to be aware of is the noise level. The dining floor has been very loud on both evening visits - but not enough of a reason to put off visting.
