Offering All Day Dining, with 360-degree views over Granary Square and newly regenerated parts of London; the 160 cover restaurant has a roof top terrace, outside dining area and an open kitchen layout throughout two floors. Going beyond a typical restaurant offering, Coal Office is a place where you can experience fresh, creative food in a variety of beautifully designed and atmospheric spaces, where the provenance is explained, the tableware is available to buy, and the recipes are shared.
It was an excellent experience visiting that restaurant, thanks for the perfect service and the tasty food.
This was my second visit to The Coal Office within two months. The menu was explained in a friendly manner and the service was excellent throughout. Delicious food. The Coal Drops Yard/Granary Square area also adds to the overall ambience.
I really love the Coal Office menu - tasty food imaginatively presented and all so fresh. My favourite Lindon restaurant
Really fun, young, and delicious sharing plates, just a bit pricey
It was nice, the food was tasty but the dishes very small, we would have liked to have more food on the plate... we had the chicken liver and it was good. the menu was lacked of variety and it felt too limited for us - my partner couldn't find anything to order.
Service was good but the place smelled a bit and we had to open the window.
Great food and service. Fabulous flavors. Knowledgeable staff. A bit pricey for lunch.
Great foodie experience. Place was really busy but staff were not phased and were very welcoming. Large tables of people eating so the place was noisy and energetic. Loved the decor but hard surfaces make for noisy room! We will def. go again and recommend to others.
Nice food, beautiful decor, nice service. Too noisy !
Delicious food served in a buzzy atmosphere, really nice staff who look after you well.
Interesting and tasty food, but disappointingly rather small main course portions. The desserts were a better size. My guest was gluten free and I indicated this on the booking. I would have expected the servers to know which dishes were suitable, but they could only do so after checking with the kitchen. Otherwise the service was very good and the location and ambiance enjoyable. The noise level was high and the high chair seating not ideal for a business lunch, so only 4 stars instead of 5.
The imaginative food is great and service attentive though we were encouraged to over order - never great for a monday lunch meal. Did find the sound level of the music was too high for a social business lunch - would be perfect for the evening
Didn’t start well as told table wasn’t ready. Didn’t end well as told they needed our table when the food has taken a long time to come out. Food was nice (but not as nice as The Palomar eg Polenta) but expensive. Disappointed but not surprised to be told my choice of wine was unavailable and then upsold a bottle ten quid more expensive. It would be nice if a restaurant would offer a more expensive wine as a substitute for no extra cost but I guess I’m dreaming!
This restaurant is in a beautiful setting and aesthetically pleasing. But it is just that, style over content. The service was hit and miss (one waitresses was lovely and very accommodating) others were not and made us feel rushed.
The best restaurant I have ever been.
Asaf granit is 10.
Really fun, great atmosphere and great food. Staff are really informative. Definitely recommend.
Food was great, deep vibrant Middle Eastern flavours and fresh produce. BUT its a noisy place. The loud music seemed to be more for the energy of the kitchen staff who seemed to motivate themselves through communal shouting. Fun at first, but perhaps think about the diners?
Don't know what's wrong in the dessert section. Desserts, which were pretty mediocre, took over 35 minutes to arrive, with a casual ('we are very busy') excuse from the waiter. We were at the point of giving up on dessert when they finally arrived.
Above all don't let the diner experience and the service compromise the otherwise good food.
the food was very good; the service, friendly but rushed. The music was loud and disco-like rather than for a dinner. A pity as my partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and we hardly could talk.
Woman on door showing to table was awful, disinterested and rude. Other than her staff were really lovely. Food very interesting Middle Eastern style with own twists... too many good dishes to list. Lovely touch that without prompt an extra pudding was delivered with birthday candle as they’d picked up it was a birthday celebration. Really like that. General ambience and decor was good (Tom Dixon style), a tad noisy but then we’re not 20 anymore 😉
Was greeted by a amazing staff who helped us unwind on what was a stressful journey to London. Booking of table was excellent in that the updates kept you in the loop....also new type of food experience for us and made me realise what has been missing in my culinary world.....
A great menu, absolutely delicious food, wonderfully helpful and attentive (yet not overbearing) waiting staff, great atmosphere, decor and ambience, great location... All in all, five stars.
Was quite expensive, but the excellent quality of the produce and presentation made it feel worth the hefty bill.
As from our first visit a month ago food was fantastic and even though full wanted a pudding. Our wait was great and personality. Our only let down is the hosting skills and there personalities rude, bitter, fake bordering on obnoxious. But hay ho that’s a management decision and then seem happy with it but contradicts the rest of the restaurant.
Absolutely delicious food in a very nice environment. The service is excellent and very attentive. My favourite restaurant in London!
Wow!!!!! Best dinner ever!
The staff and service were as amazing as the food. A beautiful area and atmosphere as well.
We like Ricardo. He is amazing !!!
He mades our birth day special
Great time! Really enjoyed it. The whole staff was having fun and that made the experience even better.
Excellent service from the staff. One of the chefs was more than welcome in explaining me the food and suggesting what to have as it was my first time in the restaurant. Definitely will visit it again for lunch and dinner! Make also some space for dessert as it totally worth the calories!
Modern, fresh and on the side of sexy decor. Great vibe much like a good restaurant in Tel Aviv. Finger licking but expensive food - can't wait to go back.
The restaurant itself, together with the ambience (once we found a slightly less noisy table) was fine plus very good service however we were disappointed with the food. My friend had a vegetable stew as her main and she couldn't eat it as she found it so unpleasant. I tried it and thought it was a little bland.
Starters were OK, we had one aubergine and another with beetroot (the former small, the latter large for a starter) and my main (aubergine again) was OK taste wise but on the small size.
We found the menu a little unclear and overall expensive for what is was.
Amazing food, of the best quality, really interesting flavours and excellent service.
Very lovely restaurant. The waiters are so friendly and polite. The food is delicious
Food was bursting with interesting flavours. Staff was super friendly and had personality! They were excellent dealing with my gluten sensitivity and the wine recommendation was spot on! Definitely will be coming back.
One of London's best new openings. Exceptional food. Couldn't recommend it more.
Contact was excellent as was reception. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal but were disappointed that there was no mille-feuille available although we had a 12.00pm table and it couldn't all have been used up by then. If you aim to be top class it should have been either available or not mentioned. Our second choice was cheese-cake. As Russian Jews we make the classic recipe which really cannot be bettered. Your version was over-rich so I couldn't finish it.
That said we had excellent starters and main courses with notably well-judged seasonings. We will certainly return.
Adele and David Leffman
loved everything ambience, food and exceptionall service will be back !
Fantastic food, beautiful decor and great service. Only thing I would change is the music volume - it’s too loud.
Excellent food great service and lovely ambience- would definitely go back
My husband and I went for dinner on Sunday and sat at the chef's table. We were attended to by very friendly staff, who were quite attentive and helped us with the menu. They also gave us some dishes that were on the house. The ambience was lovely, upbeat vibe and the service was unmatched. Will definitely be coming back again soon!
Amazing place look forward to go again. The menu and flavors were just stunning. Recommend the Lamb
Atmosphere was great and fun, service was excellent and very friendly, the food-WOW!! Nothing like anything else in London. Fresh, creative, tasty and beautifully presented.
