Offering All Day Dining, with 360-degree views over Granary Square and newly regenerated parts of London; the 160 cover restaurant has a roof top terrace, outside dining area and an open kitchen layout throughout two floors. Going beyond a typical restaurant offering, Coal Office is a place where you can experience fresh, creative food in a variety of beautifully designed and atmospheric spaces, where the provenance is explained, the tableware is available to buy, and the recipes are shared.
Interesting menu, lovely staff and looking forward to a return visit
Food was delicious and beautifully plated.
The Tom Dixon decor was inspiring.
The service was a little rusty - our waitress spilled champagne as she poured it (given it was £90 a bottle I would’ve expected better from her!) and she literally threw our cutlery on the table for the main course. She very much lacked the finesse that you would expect at a restaurant of this quality.
The waiter who took our payment got it wrong and instead of splitting the bill 3 ways equally at £54, charged 2 of us £45 (getting the digits the wrong way around) and so the third person was left with a bit of £71!!
The ambience was great - nice and buzzy - but disrupted a fair few times by falling plates, trays and quite a lot of clanking!
All in all a lovely restaurant which just needs to train / oversee the waiting staff a little more closely.
Great food, very well presented and great music.
Fabulous restaurant in a great location, very tasty food and love the sharing plates, staff very very friendly and it struck me how happy they all were and it’s infectious. Table was booked for 5.45 and we didn’t leave until 10.45 Excellent evening!
Took my friend for a catch up dinner . Booked for 2 h but got kicked out 20 mins earlier ! Shocking lack of consideration for over £100 pounds dinner . Will never come back as a matter of principle and will tweet everywhere!
All your hard work was undone in one rude and thoughtless gesture!
This is a great restaurant with interesting and unusual dishes. We were treated very nicely at all times by all the staff.. Would definitely recommend it to others . The ambience is lovely and it is always interesting watching them prepare food .
Great food, great atmosphere, great value for money!!!
Very friendly service
We thoroughly enjoyed our 1st lunch with you. You were recommended by my son as a suitable place to take a girl friend for her birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and I will be back soon!
Took my friend there for lunch, and we thoroughly enjoyed the service throughout, the food was absolutely delicious! Can not wait to dine there again!
It was my birthday so we visited the Coal office for a special occasion and it really lived up to expectation. We had a lovely, fab and very attentive French Waitress who was really knowledgable about the wines. The breads are spectacular!
Excellent food, friendly staff, special food beautiful served.
Always excellent! Ben was v attentive and friendly. Why can’t all UK restaurants employ people with a passion for their work?
really good restaurant. will come back again forsure
Fantastic service, food and ambience. Best meal I’ve had in London in years
Excellent service, friendly staff, lovely extra touches.
Definitely will return.
Unbelievable experience! We have been here for 5 days and have hit all of the best restaurants in London and this was by far the best! The food was amazing ! .
This is definitely a London MUST!!
Very good over all lovely decor , wish them well and good luck
Amazing restaurant. Excellent food. Friendly attentive waiting staff. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Perfection. A true chef restaurant.
Amazing food and service. Electric atmosphere. I love it.
A special occasion with a special friend , which I kept saying how lovely the food and experience was .Once we had been given the desert menu , we were asked if we wouldn’t mind have our deserts at the bar ???? To which I replied no u don’t want to be sitting so close to the grills as I am a vegetarian. We were then told the 5 people for this table were here and waiting so we had to be moved to a table but the counter which was noisy busy and seem d in the middle of the restaurant right under the speakers . The rest of the time we were there eating our desert, no one was seated at the table they asked us to vacate for the guest that were waiting . The food meant to be sharing plates arrived 45mins apart , all cold dishes ? When we asked what was taking so long it was yes it’s just coming .The waitress serving-our table had her long hair in a high loose ponytail so it was all over the place when she served our food . The table next to us were given small complementary biscuits with there bill , we were not even tho our bill did come to £99 not a cheap meal by any stretch of the imagination. All customers should be treated equally, regardless of their age or skin colour.
The food with some invention was pretty interesting. Most impressed one is the polenta with truffle on top.
An explosion of flavours in your mouth! Middle Eastern influences with a very modern twist! Loved it!
One of the best in the coal drop yard area. Really like the ambience and service was top notch. While all the dishes were nicely executed, it lacks a bit of flair and you only feel it’s similar to Granger & Co with an ottolenghi overdose of tahini and Jerusalem.
We went for a birthday lunch , I’m vegan and my grown up gorgeous kids eat fish , my daughters gluten free and you were amazing and nothing was too much trouble . The food was terrific . We are ottolenghi fans and this hits the same button ,
Fab fab fab , wishing you every success.
We went for brunch - the menu was over fussy and complicated. The coffee was excellent but sadly the food was ok only - felt overdone and just didn't seem to work. Was expecting great things but I have to say we were disappointed.
Really delicious plates for sharing give and opportunity to taste so many dishes.
We came to coal Office with high expectations, and they totally nailed it!!! The service, and the staff, they were super friendly and welcoming, and the food is amazing!!
Amazing food. Stand out dishes are the baked polenta with truffle and the josperized aubergine.
Cocktails are delicious too.
First visit, simply brilliant food. Great service and atmosphere.
We had an absolutely wonderful meal - great ambience and great food.
Will definitely come again.
Appalling service. Most of our dishes were served promptly
Then after a 45 minute wait with no one checking on us, and watching the waiters go outside for smokes, and our ears exploding from the noise- unable to hear each other speak- we gave up and left
A pity since the food was good and we would have liked to have tasted the undelivered items
My 2nd visit within 3 weeks and the food was almost as good as the first time which given we went on New Years eve when restaurants are notorious for not being at their best I think was pretty good.
The service is attentive - the little additions of a welcome beverage and a tasty appetiser - set the tone for an interesting and tasty meal - I will be back!
Creative and tasty middle eastern food. Clean use of flavors make plates delicious and exciting to eat. Save room for dessert!
We went for an early dinner with kids for New Year’s eve. As it is a new restaurant, bookings at 5.45 or 10pm were all that were available. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend trying it out. It’s a series of small plates and can be a bit pricey, but worth it. I think I mentioned on my booking that I was dairy free, but forgot to mention again in restaurant. They prepared the risotto dish for me in a dairy free version although we therefore ended up paying for two of this plate as we’d already preferred it not realising it had dairy in it from the ingredients. There is a lot of yoghurt in these dishes so if you have any allergies, I would make clear from outset and re-iterate as is not clear from menu.
Location and decor of restaurant very good. Reasonably priced wine and cocktails for London. Food was nice but forgettable.
Over priced med tapas type food.
Really good unpretentious food that tastes delicious in a beautiful environment. Great and very friendly service too.
Really interesting combinations of flavours beautifully presented
