   We came to Cold Town House for an early lunch before a Fringe show on Sunday the 7th of August. I’d booked us a table on the roof terrace and it’s just as gorgeous as the photos. Staff were super friendly and attentive. We ordered the haggis loaded fries and Nonna’s meatballs from the Grazing section of the menu. The loaded fries were excellent. The haggis was lovely, there was plenty of it, the fries were crisp and there was plenty of them. The bacon was lovely small pieces from thin rashers which was great, I thought it might have been lardons which wouldn’t have been as good. The peppercorn sauce was also plentiful and delicious. The meatballs were large and came with plenty of sauce. I loved the garlic bread, it had a nice chewiness to the crust and it made me want to try the pizza next time, they all sound delicious. We also ordered charred jalapeño mayo and roast garlic mayo from the dips section of the menu. These appeared as £1 on the menu but we were charged £2 on the bill. It’s only £2 overcharge but shouldn’t have happened. I’d already paid and we were in a rush so I didn’t bother raising it with the staff. But I’d advise double checking your bill. To drink we had two alcohol free cocktails which were both incredible, and although they were £6 each, they felt like they were worth it. Overall, the experience was fantastic and I can’t wait to go again. The staff, drinks and food were all phenomenal. Just double check the bill before you pay.

   Cheap night club/sports bar vibe. More than one hen-do on the go. Not for kids. Website makes it look much more up market than it is. Only reason we didn’t turn around and go elsewhere is they’d have £5 per person as a no show. Food was ok, decor maybe looks better if you’re drunk.

   The cocktails were poorly made! One tasted so sour we couldn’t drink it and another was so sweet it tasted Like drinking squash juice straight! We also had terrible service and had to get up and go to the counter to get staff to even notice us. The location and look of the bar was nice, but we will not be back due to horrendous cocktails and poor service. Sorry to say this as we were really looking forward to our visit.

    Service was slow, had to repeatedly ask for things, also didn’t get things did ask for (eg. a spoon) Food was good, staff were friendly but wouldn’t return or recommended due to service.

    Cocktails were delicious( I had the Margarita and it was just lovely). Even though the fries were very overdone, we pointed it out and the staff replaced them with perfectly cooked fries. The rooftop bar was beautiful and it had a lovely ambience. Fantastic service from the staff who were attentive and happy to please. Very nice place for food and/or drinks

    Poor service, had to ask 4 times to place a food order. No one came to tske a 2nd drinks order. Requested side plates, 15 mins later they gave us 2 rather then the 3 needed. Went to order and was told some of the food marked as vegetarian on the menu was an error as it contained meat. It started to rain and took staff 15 mins to get the cover on so everyone and their food was drenched. The rain cover does not cover all seating areas.

    Overall a disappointing experience at the roof top terrace. With regards to facilities, some of the overhead heaters were broken, the area our booking was it allocated was dirty when we got there. The wait staff were all chatting to each other, not attentive or inclined to serve/ help anyone. Drinks took 20 mins to arrive, the food was very average, our group of 6's dishes came 1 hour and 20 mins after our order was put in and when the food arrived ingredients were missing from more than half the dishes ordered. When queried waiting times was told that the kitchen was backed up and things would arrive as they were made. The pizzas were cold and the bases were chewy, also the toppings were skimpy, have had better at Dominos! The wait staff didn't inform us that the kitchen was closing so when we finished eating and went to order desert was told that the kitchen was already closed. When we mentioned that we were not informed or asked if we wanted anything further before the kitchen closed the wait staff shrugged shoulders and didn't seem bothered though he did suggest that we could go somewhere else for desert. Overall worst service experience I've had in Edinburgh, would not recommend going there, many better places to go to. All 6 people in my group were disappointed with the standard of cleanliness, facilities, food and service.

    What a find! The open air terrace in the shadow of the awesome castle above was beautifully bedecked with colourful flowers and quirky seating. We had pizza and beers which were delicious and the service friendly and efficient. A sunny day made all the difference I’m sure but the ambience was great- perfect for meeting up for a bite and a chat.

    Staff were very friendly. We were on the terrace with a good view of the castle. Had a great afternoon. Only intended to stay about 2 hrs but ended up about 4hrs as it was so nice.

    My only complaint would be that they had no cold town beers on draft and that was the point of visiting, same thing happened on last visit.

    Was here this evening and table was sorted quite quickly good start. Looked at drinks menu, none of this or that left not even cans of minerals ok grand. Ordered the chicken wings, "Sorry none " ok Nonna meatballs? "Nope" ok so what do you have. Pizza Margherita? Yep. Thank god 😂 service very slow for what looked like it wasn't too busy. Seen other customers approach server looking to see where their food was 30mins or so after ordering. Food was nice but price maybe a bit overpriced for what was on offer.

    Had reserved table on roof top bar on a lovely sunny day. Great attentive service. Free bottles of water re-filled as often as needed, great awareness of when we wanted to order more drinks. Only disappointment was they did not have a great range of drinks at the rooftop bar and had run out of some of the already limited range they had. However this did not spoil our enjoyment. One of the best bars we visited during our stay regarding service.

    Nice food and drinks. Tip added to bill without being asked (only a table of 4) and another staff member said we should have been told. Our money is already taxed and would have left a tip without it being taxed again. Off putting that we were told

    This was the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. We were not approached by any members of staff the whole 2 hours we were at our table. We waited 30 and then had to ask someone to take our drinks order, we then waited a further 15 and asked someone to take our food order. Any other drinks we ordered we had to stop the staff to take our order Food and drinks were lovely but extremely dissatisfied with the service we received!

    It was a very busy Saturday. Edinburgh was heaving. We had pre booked the roof terrace and our table was ready, but it took 20 minutes after being seated to order drinks and then another 25 minutes to order food. The 3 staff were rushed off their feet and there were unwashed glasses piled high in view of customers for the 2 hours we were there. Fair price and food was average. The setting is fab and pretty fake flowers make it a relaxing environment, but more staff required.

    Excellent food and beautiful views - a ‘must visit’ spot in Edinburgh for cocktails and pizza. Spoilt a little by slow service due to understaffing on the day.
