Disappointing meal at Cold Town House. Had booked as have previously been & loved it. Service was so slow - took approx an hour to order food. They ran out of beer I ordered - without asking brought over half pint then still tried to charge for full pint. I wouldn't bother going again!
I've visited before and really enjoyed my experience, but unfortunately this occasion was very disappointing. When our food arrived my pizza was missing, so we were informed by the server that they'd update us on it's status. They didn't and despite chasing on a couple of occasions my partner had entirely finished his meal before mine arrived. We did get an apology but weren't offered any discount on the bill until we insisted. Very disappointing and won't be returning any time soon
Sit inside, outside seating service was dead slow.
Visited on our first day in Edinburgh after being recommended by a friend. Previously booked the Brew House however managed to get sat up on the terrace after food which is an absolute must when coming to Cold Town House(I believe this made our visit as it was a lovely roof top) so thank you to management for accommodating us!
The food was a little disappointing, as we were so hungry we had to make do but we could tell it wasn’t fresh. We had the Halloumi Fries and Chicken Wings - definitely a 2/10 as Fries seemed like they were frozen McCains served with what I think was just mashed up cherry tomatos? And the wings… well they were teeny things and lacked flavour/sauce.
Despite the food issue which we raised when paying the bill, I could not fault the terrace roof top bar. Very colourful and bright, aesthetically pleasing… great if you love an instagram vibe. Drinks were well priced. They do a Prossecco and Pizza bar which is right up my street however it’s shut most days in the week so would have LOVED to go in there as actually the pizza looked great when we saw a couple eating one on the terrace. I love Pizza too!!!
Will 100% visit again for a drink on the Terrace.
Drinks and atmosphere was good, but service was very slow. We were told it was table service but had to get up to grab someone to take our order twice.
Lovely place to grab a bite to eat and drinks were very nice! Would also recommend on football nights great tv’s to watch
Good pizza, reasonable service, quite loud!
Great staff. Explained the beers - good pizza and fries too.
Lovely place for lunch and drinks. Service is a always brilliant here too
Great food ,but didn't like it being served in a box .
Friendly and attentive staff with a lovely atmosphere.
Expected more was disappointed. Food was expensive for just a small portion.
Table was broken and loads of drunk people disrupting the vibe.
Excellent place to meet up with mates. Good beer and nice staff.
We didn’t eat just had drinks. The cold town lager in the big 4 or 6 pints table top dispensers are great. We were inside as roof terrace and outside area were fully booked. Recommended.
The food was fine. The service not so good. Had to ask for dessert menu only to informed the Kitchen was closed. Would not return
Waitress didn’t know about prices, doesn’t offered us deals for cocktails, not too much variety of food
Warm welcome on arrival & taken straight to our table. Quick, friendly service. Menu not extensive but the quality of the food was excellent & very well presented. Will be back & would definitely recommend to others.
We called numerous times to try and bring our booking forward 30 mins but the phone was never answered and even though we left two messages over 2 days we did not get a call back.
We turned up early and the reception we got from the man on the door was complete disinterest, we ended up re-arranging some stalls so we could sit in the bar area before our table was free, he didn't bother to help at all.
then when we were in a different man got involved and was very helpful and accommodating to make sure we could order, eat and get out in time for the show we were going to see. don't know why they had the other guy anywhere near front of house!
Great place to meet friends in lovely location of Grassmarket.Food and service great !
Incredible friendly staff, great food, great value.
Such a beautiful view of the castle!
We only went for drinks. Seated outside on the street which was pleasant but staff appeared harassed and distracted from customer service by constantly listening and talking to staff in their head sets
Service was appalling, two waiters serving the outdoor area. Totally clueless, ponderous and lacking awareness.
Twice waited 20 minutes for our round to arrive at the table but not because it wasn’t ready, rather the waiter hadn’t been inside to see if it was ready.
Great atmosphere! Great food! Awesome service! We loved the Haggis pizza! - definitely the best pizza we've had!
Great beer and nice food
Food took ages and pizzas were cold spent a lot of money aswell when the quality wasn’t high standards like said, my boyfriend 21st so we expected something for it when we go desert and we requested and didn’t a lovely place but not worth the hype for it
The pizzas here are delicious. My boyfriend was very happy with the beers - he is a craft beer fanatic and loved this place so much when we last visited Edinburgh that he wanted to come back. I’d also like to highlight that the service was great: really friendly staff. Thank you Cold Town!!
very good. would definitely return. very nice seat next to fire
Had a buffalo chicken burger but it definitely was not buffalo sauce. Tasted like mayonnaise with a bit of spice.
Burger itself had no lettuce also.
It was all eaten because we were starving...but not impressed.
Had a lovely afternoon sitting in beer garden enjoying a few cocktails for my birthday treat in Edinburgh. service was vgd+staff very friendly +helpful will definitely return🙂
Excellent pizza, good efficient and friendly service too.
Building was beautiful inside and out. A must do for anybody visiting Edinburgh as it does not disappoint. The food was to die for me and my partner both had a burger and both were of value. Waitress was so polite and very attentive throughout our meal aswell.
Food was outstanding, everyone (party of 5) loved everything. Service was also brilliant, very attentive and quick to supply drinks etc.
The whole look and vibe of the place is great too.
Great place, fab range of drinks / food.
Nice atmosphere with funky decor.
The food and drinks were phenomenal, we were absolutely satisfied with our visit
Tried this restaurant based on its "top rated" reviews & were not disappointed. The views of the castle from its garden/terrace are amazing! The food was a nice combination of burger & pizza offering. We particularly liked our sourdough pizzas, spicy chicken wings & halloumi fries. Would definitely return!
Lovely atmosphere, drinks were amazing as well, will defo be back
Good all round service in cold town house- great place to meet up for a post lockdown catch up
Fab pizzas with skinny crust and tasty toppings Burgers were great too
