Collins Room at The Berkeley
The menus are designed by executive chef Shaun Watling, with an emphasis on fresh, daily specials and beautifully-crafted, classically British dishes using the finest ingredients sourced from forest, field, seashore and stream.
Named as a tribute to the legendary designer David Collins, the space has now been stunningly reimagined by Collins’s protégé and creative director for 15 years Robert Angell, working with the British architects Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners who masterminded the glass extension to the room.
Lunch at The Collins Room was so amazing. The staff really took care of my sister and I for our birthday lunch and even surprised us with a birthday message and sweet treats.
The cocktails from the blue bar were so yummy and the ambience is beautiful! Such a pretty restaurant. The menu is pricey but so worth it and great for a yummy treat.
Thank you much!
Afternoon tea had really good quality food which looked and tasted great
WOW! I was so impressed with the afternoon tea offering. All of the sandwiches were delicious, the deserts were great and had a fun story to go along, and the tea was wonderful as well. They replenish anything you like which I was not expecting... I wish I could have eaten more!! Service was great as well! I will recommend this place to everyone I know visiting London. It's a girls dream- very chic and worth dressing up for a stylish afternoon.
Simply amazing - food is excellent, interior stunning but most importantly the loveliest staff you will ever find. It's always a great experience dining there. You are always made to feel very welcome and special.
Overall good experience. The downsides are exorbitantly expensive drinks/ desserts and a very very limited menu choice.
This was amazing! The best waitress and waiter ever. Food was to die for, everything from the bread to the dessert. Completely 5 star experience, the Caramel room itself a gorgeous. A real treat. Thank you
We booked in the busy holiday period just before Christmas and wondered if this would affect our experience. However, we had a lovely set lunch with glass of champagne to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The food was lovely and the complementary fruit platter with birthday greeting was a nice added touch. Excellent value of £35 for three courses with a glass of champagne, bottle of water and bread basket included in the price. The service was pleasant but a little impersonal but overall would definitely recommend. The food was lovely and reasonable sized portions. However, the cost of sides at £7 a portion was a little steep, albeit nicely cooked vegetables.
Excellent dining room with quality furnishings and a real sense of sofistication. The bar opposite provides an excellent start/finish to the evening - lively and stylish. Starter excellent - crab dish with plenty of crab! Went for chicken as a main, whilst my girlfriend had veal. Both were slightly overcooked and seemed almost too much on the plate! Desert was superb - eaton mess and a fantastic toffee-ish sponge. Well worth visiting and a fun evening. Very accommodating staff - they allowed us to take up a table normally for 4 or 6!!! Friendly team.
The staff are fantastic, the food is good, though if you are a vegetarian and don't like mushrooms, avoid, as they were not prepared to do anything else other than the mushroom risotto on the menu. Strange for a hotel of this standing. The fizz was delicious though as were the olives and nuts pre-meal. Nice surroundings and would still recommend.
Waiters were so kindly
Purchased a £35 for 2 courses with champagne and water. 5 of us dined, great selection of all courses. The food itself was delicious and the service was incredible. We also had bread, olives and nuts included in the price! It really felt like exceptional value for money. I can't rave about this place enough......would 100% go again.
Five of us went on Monday following a carol service next door. Had booked the 2 course £29pp menu. Starters were tasty enough, veal main o.k., Shepherd's pie o.k., although the pie eating contingency all said it was bit rich & none finished it. The deal included a nice glass of bubbly but the food certainly wasn't anything special so it didn't feel like a treat or good value. We were sat by the door way, which seemed strange as it was half empty?! So felt a bit like we were given the spot reserved for the people on the deal/ blocking the draft from the other diners! The main entrance is just opposite and those sat at the end got a shiver of cold air every time it opened. Seemed ages before anyone came to take our order, but the waitress who did come was very pleasant.
Most of us had been for the afternoon tea in the past & had enjoyed it, but certainly wouldn't recommend dinner, deal or no deal!! ; )
I enjoyed the experience the afternoon tea sandwiches were excellent. The cakes and biscuits were also very good.I didn't like the tasting spoons quite so much. The only criticism was the bill was incorrect but it was put right and we agreed beforehand about having plain sandwiches and we had to remind the waiter about this.
The Berkeley was a treat for a friend who was visiting from overseas. We had a lovely afternoon at the Pret-a-Portea Afternoon Tea. My 3 month old daughter came too and the staff were wonderful and super attentive. We had plenty of room for her pushchair and she ended up sleeping most of the time we were there. I did S/S 2012 Pret-a-Portea and feel the food was better than this year but was still a fun thing to do. Will go back next year should the do S/S 2014.
This is the Berkley Hotel's Lounge . The food was good and the service was attentive and efficient.
Very nice tea - good friendly service - nice Italian waiter. Would have liked more savouries on the menu and traditional scones. The little fashion cakes were lovely though! Nice to have a little goodie bag with a few cakes to take home even if they collapsed in the sultry evening by the time they got home! The chairs were a little uncomfortable as they were a little too low for the table. on yje whole enjoyed the experience.
The Caramel Room @ Berkeley Hotel was an awesome experience.I went there with a friend for a pre-burfday celebration and it was really lovely. The cakes, biscuits and savouries were really yummy & looked soo nice we didnt feel like having them but just click pix of them instead.Service was fantastic!!Had an awesome Saturday afternoon.
Food: foie gras and lobster - all cooked deliciously
Wine: a white rhone chosen from a long and geographically extensive list
We had a lovely meal at the Caramel Room. The service was friendly and we were well looked after. The menu selection on the TT offer was varied and delicious.
This was our second visit to the Caramel Room in the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge. Again, the food was excellent and the service impeccable. The wine choices, though highly limited, were quite good making the offer a very good value.
We very much enjoyed our dinner in the Caramel room. The food was excellent and plenty of choice in the set menu. The ambience was rather lacking as we were the only diners and this room feels like a lobby off the bar.
The Berkeley, London, was perfect in every way. The food was great and so was the service. Perhaps our only complaint was that the food was very rich but that was probably down to what we chose.
The food at the Caramel Room was excellent. My fillet steak was cooked to perfection and my wife's lobster risotto was beautiful. Even the bottle of wine included in the £45 deal was very nice. Clearly the aperitif drinks were always going to be a little pricey (£15 for a G&T...), but there was pretty much zero atmos in the place on a Wednesday evening. Service was very friendly, but we could have done with a gap between starter and main courses.
I took my friend to The Caramel Room to celebrate her birthday with the 'Pret a Portea' afternoon tea. Service and presentation of the food (on Paul Smith tableware) was excellent. Our booking was officially for 2 hours however we ended up staying for almost 3. The highlight were the biscuits and petit fours - very delicate, subtly flavoured and beautifully made. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.
The Caramel Room - London. Impeccable service, and very good food. The room is more like a clubby bar with the window side "corridor" tables laid with table clothes. Therefore you have the feeling that you are having a bar snack - however the food is very good. The TT deal was available to all except the free bottle of wine with a choice of just one wine per white and red.
dinner at the caramel room at the berkeley through top table could be forgiven for not being as good as they give guests not on a deal, but it was sensational. well done.
To my surprise the Caramel room is the old lobby bar of the Berkeley hotel. Nicely decorated as before, the space is really not suited to intimate dining with the open connection to the hotel entrance. The staff were friendly but could use a bit more training. The food was good without setting the world alight: competent steak, lamb chops a touch overcooked, dessert a bit heavy. The £45 including wine made it good value, though.
The Caramel Room at the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge is the hotel's restaurant that serves food pretty much around the clock. While you would usually expect a convenience eatery, the Caramel Room is actually charming. The service is 2nd to none, the food divine, the wine included in the GBP45 offer delicious. Highly recommended! Be aware though that anything you order outside the offer is coming at a hefty premium (1bottle of Evian = GBP6.10)...
Had dinner at the Caramel Room at The Berkeley for £45 per head and a bottle of wine. This is a good deal! Food was well prepared but nothing really spectacular or out of the ordinary. Ambiance was also average considering that The Berkeley is a 5-star luxury hotel. The best part is the service. They were good, asking us how we liked our food without being obtrusive. I would recommend.
The Caramel Room, London
great service, good food, the ambiance is romantic and quite, though not so much a people watching place.
I went here with my husband, and had a really good meal. The wine was included with three courses on the Toptable special offer, which made it excellent value.
The Berkeley, Knightsbridge, London
£45 per head and a bottle of wine between two is a fantastic deal. The food and presentation was fantastic, the puddings really had the wow factor. To say it was house wine it was pretty good and the service was just right. Only down side was you had people just having a drink in with the diners so people on mobiles etc, not the worst thing ever but did change the atmos.
Superb food, great location - highly recommended.
Food was nice and well prepared but nothing really spectacular or interesting. The configuration of the restaurant was strange. They placed the tables diagonally next to ear other (like diagonal car parking spots). This doesn’t seem particularly interesting but it basically meant that I had my left ear stuck in the middle of someone else’s table and could hear every word they were saying. The service was average and cold. They lost our top table booking. For the money I would go elsewhere.
The most beautiful dining room in London. Also a bar, lounge and tea room. If you have the means there is no finer.
fabulous milieu, great staff, friendly service, fantastic food. highly recommend this place.
Went here with a friend and I could not recommend the food enough! A little quiet there at the start as we had a booking at 7pm but around 9pm the restaurant had got very busy! The food was outstanding and could not fault it at all. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. A place you could go with a larger group of friends or as a couple. Either way you will have a great meal!!
My friend and I attended on the toptable deal. We enjoyed the food a great deal - in my case beef carpaccio and a chicken supreme, with raspberry macaroons for dessert - and the house wine that accompanied the meal was excellent.
We found the service most courteous.
My only gripe would be that we didn't experience the breathtaking 'wow' factor with the food - every other ingredient was there.
Great deal, wonderful food and excellent service.
