Comptoir Libanais Kingston
“The Lebanese cafe continues to impress us with its fresh mezze, interesting soft drink selection, snappy service and good looks.” – Time Out.
The food at Comptoir is fresh, healthy, honest and affordable. Comptoir wakes up early to provide customers with unique Lebanese breakfasts to eat in or take away. Visit for lunch and dinner and enjoy all types of interesting and colourful dishes, including hot and cold mezze – perfectly sized for sharing- wraps, salads, tagines, grills and Man’aesh (Lebanese style pizzas). For dessert, nothing is more authentic than the sweet taste of baklawa – Lebanese pastries in a variety of flavours such as date filled semolina and walnut filled flaky pastry. Drinks include freshly squeezed juices, homemade lemonades and Lebanese inspired cocktails. All products can be packaged up and enjoyed on the go. Comptoir caters well for vegetarians as well as for a gluten free diet.
I took a friend here for her first time. Perfect. She loved the decor - and took pics.
The halloumi wrap was packed with flavour, and freshly prepared.
Nice beer, too............... ;)
The proportions are fairly big, so you need to be hungry.
We're so pleased this place has reopened. The decor is even more bonkers than before, but it works. It's lovely to sit in a booth, too.
The menu is a taste sensation. The portions are a bit on the large side for my liking, but the husband was happy about that.
The house wine [Lebanese; we tried the white] is excellent.
Service is welcoming and friendly.
I'll be back soon, and I'm bringing more people.
Enjoyed a really lovely alfresco dinner with two friends on Saturday night. Two of us met up at 6.30 pm to find somewhere for pre-dinner cocktails and noticed the restaurant board displaying 2 cocktails for £10. We actually had a reservation for 7.30 pm but as an outdoor table was available with wonderful views of the Thames and the temperature was 30 degrees, why bother going elsewhere? We sipped on lovely cocktails and nibbled on mixed olives until our friend joined us at 8 pm. The restaurant was extremely busy but the staff remained friendly and attentive throughout and the delicious large mezze platter plus 3 sides we ordered were all promptly served. We ended our meal with tea and coffee and enjoyed an interesting and lighthearted chat with one of the waiting staff who was able to tell us quite a bit about the restaurant chain and also about Spain, his native country. We eventually left the restaurant at around 11.30 pm feeling happy and satisfied.
Food was fantastic with top service from Ryan
We were able to sit outside as the weather was warm
I hope they get some out door heaters for the winter
We visited early on a Friday evening so there was no problem getting a table. The staff were welcoming letting us have a choice of table but they need to smile more! We loved everything we ate. Very tasty food and the first time for us trying Lebanese food. If there would be one criticism it would be that it the ambiance feels a little 'cold' maybe to do with the tiles floor to ceiling and we did go in February. We would be happy to eat at one of these restaurants again.
This was our second visit in less than a fortnight. It's a cosy place, and there's a warm welcome from staff.
Food is freshly prepared, packed with flavour, beautifully presented. The wine list is good - and there's a great selection of soft drinks.
Our guest couldn't resist dessert, and the mango cheesecake was [apparently] superb.
We'll definitely be back - we're bringing more people each time we visit.
Perfect choice for our own 'office Christmas do', as both the partner and I work from home, as freelancers.
[We invited ourselves, and took ourselves here.]
Starters of lamb kibbeh and cheese sambousek: shared; both superb, with delicate flavours.
Mains - the chicken shish taouk grill - perfect.
My fattet lamb koftka - at first, I did think, wow that's a lot of tahini! But oh, these chefs know their stuff. This perfectly balanced dish was full of flavour, with a great combination of textures. Damn, it's good.
House wines: good choices, not fancy, but very good with this menu.
Staff are truly lovely.
Now - what's the excuse for the next 'office party'.......?!
The food, environment and customer services was great, second time eating at Comptoir Libanais and both times has been wonderful, easily becoming my go-to place for a delicious meal as well as all-round enjoyable experience...the staff are awesome!
Very tasty and friendly service. Good for kids and families
Excellent service and great advice on how to choose dishes to suit diverse palates.
Great food, service and value
A post concert dinner with friends, it is set by the riverside with big picture windows and lots of outdoor seating. The service was great - quick, polite, efficient and accurate. The food was amazing - really hot, amazingly tasty, and thoroughly satisfying! We all had a main course and dessert, with a bowl of hummus and some flat bread - superb. All washed down with a bottle of house red (Cabernet Sauvignon) which at 19.99 was great value and surprisingly good for the price!
We were happy to pay the 12% service charge which was included in the final bill, and they have a lovely little 'souk' if you want to buy your own tagine, or some of their GORGEOUS baclawa. Really, really good.
We reserved a table to celebrate my mum's birthday, they did not even bother allocating a table to us. We asked for a vase for a bunch of flowers we had with us, they never came back to us on the request. The service was extremely unfriendly, slow (had to wait for about half an hour between starter and main, despite detailed instructions of when to serve the food) and unmotivated. The food was overpriced for what it was and to top it all off, the audacity to charge 12.5% service charge that was already included in the bill. Flat out poor experience.
Over rated expensive for what it is. Nice ambience if you like canteen dining
Ate outside on a little very hot sunny day was most enjoyable
The food was below average, especially the kebabs. The chicken was hard and had no flavour. The mixed grill didn’t really live up to its name. Except for the cold mezzes, it was all very disappointing. I have lived in the Middle East for years before and know what Lebanese food is all about. I’m sorry to say, this is not authentic.
Food was OK. I know Lebanese food very well and this was not particularly authentic. Service was however very good and staff do try hard to please. Will visit again but will concentrate on having more starters as opposed to main dishes. Not very good value for money in my opinion.
We were a group of 6. 2 of the party were running late, but this was not an issue and we weren’t rushed. It does get very noisy, which is a pity if you are trying to hold a conversation. The food was of a good standard & the choice on the menu was refreshing - there was something for everyone.
Very tasty food, good smiling service on a busy evening sat outside by the river thames
Service was poor. It’s all so lacking in customer care. Food is average. Value isn’t great - over £100 for 2 adults and 2 kids for a shared starter & main course each. Had to ask for water 4 times before receiving. Then edited for 5 minutes for one of our mains to arrive after the first 3 arrived. Then brought bill without being asked.
Carry on like this and you’ll be the next to be in administration. I won’t be back.
I booked this restaurant for my special birthday meal and asked in the Special Requests box to have a table on the terrace. On arrival we were taken to a table at the very back of the restaurant. When I queried this I was told that it was not possible to book a table on the terrace. However, I was not advised of this when I placed my booking. Upon request we were moved closer to the open doors onto the terrace as the restaurant was very empty. It then took a good 20 minutes for the waitress to ask for our drinks order despite trying to attract her attention several times on her way back and forth to the bar. We were eventually served with our bottle of wine and also eventually found a table outside for ourselves. Once our food arrived, it was very tasty. I would recommend this restaurant for a casual lunch but not for a special occasion.
Service was really slow. Starters were nice, mains were extremely dissapoitning, the sharing platter was so small, dry flavourless chicken and the side salads are bland and dry.
Lovely restaurant and were lucky to get a table outside overlooking the river, on a gorgeous evening. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Starters delicious, drinks great (nice cold beers and prosecco), but slightly disappointed with a couple of the main courses....too dry and unappealing. Will not choose these options again.
Will go back though, as we love this restaurant.
Have now eaten here three times and have had excellent food and service on every occasion. Love it!
really friendly staff, prompt and attentive, very nice food and plenty of it. I said when we arrived that we would prefer to be seated outside and as good to their word as soon as an outside table became available we were given the option of moving, we decided to decline the offer and let a neighboring table take it as we had settled and found the interior of the restaurant fun and airy with music that was good and not to loud.
Definitely down for a return.
Excellent service enjoyable atmosphere amazing food!
We are regulars and service, food are good and friendly staff. However, last Friday, we had a whiteness who is a bit rude and had a chip on her shoulder. It was like asking the queen to get you a drink. We will go again in hope for a better service
Perfect in every way! There is a lot on offer and for different occasions. You can't go wrong with this restaurant. Plus it's all very healthy and plentiful at the same time. I strongly recommend.
Great as always. Great food. Bottled beer excellent. Very suitable wine list. Super friendly staff
Took my mother there for her birthday, they were so lovely and friendly!! Thank you once again.
Good food, reasonable price. Service became poor as the restaurant filled up. Slow enough to become very irritating. Shame as otherwise somewhere that I would choose on a regular basis.
Good ambience.. great food but poor service. I’ve been there twice now and both times service is very slow and the first time our waitress was also pretty off hand and stroppy - To the extent that everyone at our table commented on it.
Shame the staff aren’t better trained
Tasty Lebanese food. Though I am not a vegetarian, still I opt for the veg mezze platter.
There were not enough waiting staff and our waitress was rather surly, the food though was good, a sharing meze platter could be enough for most without the need for a main course
The Meze was very good. The Tagine we ordered was let down by insufficient sauce and so too much dry couscous. The service especially for drinks was very very slow.
Tasty as always. But too much salt especially in the baba gnoush.
Very pleasant evening, service was good, food was good, will definately be returning.
I had lunch with 4 friends at Comptoir Libanais for the first time and really loved the place. Everything was just so fresh and the food was just a nice change to a traditionally lunch. Staff was also really friendly and the interior in the place was just special and interesting to look at. Will definitely be back and can only recommend this place.
Don't want to too harsh as they were unusually busy but everything took ages to arrive. Drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and were very expensive and were weird combinations of flavours that actually weren't very pleasant.
My food was very boring and not value for money at all...was like a very tasteless cheese on toast with cheap side salad. I may have ordered badly of course!
I won't go back as there are so many better places nearby that are more reliable.
