Worth swimming across the River Thames for their Tortellini alone!
Outstanding as always. It does really deserve all the accolades!
The pork tortelloni was fabulous, and with 12 tortelloni, plenty filling. The rucola (rocket) salad with Grano Padano a great side, and the tiramisu the best I've had outside Italy. Accompanied by a nice Nebbiolo and finished with a lovely glass of limoncello, I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday dinner to myself. The service was perfect - enough attention to be solicitous, but not intrusive.
Another delicious meal at this wonderful restaurant. The jewel at the heart of the Royal Arsenal. Cannot recommend it highly enough
Beautiful little restaurant, a romantic setting for our anniversary . Service was friendly and helpful . Food was terrific - the steak was rare and delicious and the parpadelle with ragu was stunning . One teeny moan ... the playlist was ... interesting . I don’t think that my husband ( a massive Clash fan) will recover from the cheesy cover of shall I stay or shall I go to a bossa nova beat . Butit gave us a laugh . We will return tho - meal was fab
Wonderful food and lovely ambience
Lovely food, and just the waitress and chef in there made it feel like a really homely place. the only real issue was that the extractor fan is very noisy and as we had the place to ourselves pretty much there wasn't other noise around to drown it out. food was great though and the cheese board was delicious.
Very quiet for a Friday evening. Faultless service but we were caught out by prices charged for children’s pasta and ice cream, which were unbelievably expensive. Would return but leave the kids at home next time.
Everything was fine apart from the wine which was appalling. So much so that the couple on the next table (who had the same wine) asked us if we could finish theirs off - we didn't! If you go there avoid the Primitivo wine at £29!
We were looking forward to visiting Con Gusto hugely. Being a resident and let down by other eating establishments on the Royal Arsenal we very much wanted this to be what the RA cries out for and needs more of and at 95% overall it is. The restaurant is unique in character, a Grade II listed building which used to be a Guard House. It has few covers due to its size and dining is in 2 hour slots maximum, which is perfect. There was a steady flow in and out on Thursday and as such the ambience is excellent.
The menu is superb. Great variety. Not having visited before and not usually requiring a starter we enjoyed sharing the Puglia nocellara olives, Focaccia served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar very much. Juicy olives and the lightest Focaccia seasoned perfectly with excellent olive oil.
We noted many of the diners were having starters and that is what we'd choose to do another time...
Our mains of Handmade strozzapreti pasta alla marinara with prawns, calamari, mussels and octopus and
Handmade pappardelle pasta with slow cooked Black Angus ragu, were absolutely delicious but I had to find the shell fish and unfortunately the portion size is so under that even my partner who has a light appetite in general had to comment that there wasn't much pasta to enjoy, however delicious it was.
We'll definitely go again. Want this gorgeous little place to succeed which it clearly is, but next time we'll have a starter too!
Great spot for a date. Wonderful food.
It was a lovely valentines evening. We like that the Resturant is cosy and the service is good.
Excellent restaurant in all aspects.
Atmosphere is charming and the food fresh and delicious. A very good wine selection.
Staff was very friendly and, even on Valentine's day, were not rushing anyone.
A really great addition to Woolwich.
Quality food and great value wine, combined with good service in one of the more unique (and compact) dining rooms in London - a must to visit if you live in Woolwich or anywhere east for that matter!
This is my third visit to Con Gusto and it has never disappointed! I love the set up, the relaxed feel, the food, actually there isn’t anything I dislike..... and yes I will be visiting again!
We’ve now been here 3/4 times, love the friendly staff and atmosphere, food really good with a lovely selection of Italian wines. Small but good option of dining at the bar rather than miss out as only small number of tables
Almost afraid to praise Con Gusto too much as I don't want to have to wait weeks for a table. Amazing location once you set foot in the development. Must be fun arriving by boat. Given how close the tables are, it does not feel intrusive. Such an unusual, historic building. The beetroot carpaccio is a feast for the eyes and is an exciting blend of flavours. The ragout is superb. Nonna has some serious competition from these boys from Rimini. The pasta confirms my suspicion that making your own is always worth the effort. Zuppa Inglese is perfection on a plate....so refreshing. Wines for every pocket and taste. The Sangiovese was inexpensive but super smooth and flavoursome. Charlotte served us with such charm and knowledge.
Have spoken about the experience every day and hope to return very soon. Who would have expected such fine dining in SE18? I have been waiting more than 40 years but it has been worth the wait.
Food and service were very good. Wine was expensive. The whole bill came to nearly £500 for 6 of us. This included a 12.5% service charge which we were not made aware off.
Unusual lovely building
Great service and good food.
Returning customer and I wasn’t disappointed. I just love this restaurant. It’s tiny and very unique with a beautiful wooden roof and natural stone walls.
I chose the cod and it was beautifully cooked and the portion was just right. The service was quick, attentive and with a sparkling demeanour.
Can’t wait to return!
Excellent food highly recommend
Delightful little restaurant, attentive friendly service and delicious food!
Great food and atmosphere! Would recommend to anyone.
Handmade pasta to die for . Every course was superb. We even enjoyed the Italian wine , normally only drink South American. Deserve all accolades .
In my opinion. Great starters and main, cheese board served with shrivelled grapes and waitress service became poor after regular customers sat at bar. Wine was opened away from table and poor. All comments sent to restaurant and they said I should of complained there and then. Difficult sometimes depending who you're dining with.
Would recommend if bar is empty for a starter and main, then walk away, which is a shame as could of been an amazing meal.
As ever Great food and great restaurant.
We had a booking for 5 at 7pm. We started eating and suddenly were told we had to leave within the following 10 minutes because there was another seating after us. The booking made through Open Table didn't mention any limitation nor were we told at the beginning of our meal. We found it quite unpleasant to be sort of suddenly pushed out...
Don’t be deceived by the small appearance of this restaurant, it was lovely inside and we were not squeezed up against anyone. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The ambiance was warm and friendly. It is not cheap, it’s a special occasion place, but worth a visit on your special occasion. We loved it, a very memorable evening.
Pleasant restaurant but could have been a bit warmer. Food was tasty but portions were on the small side for the price.
Congusto exceeded all of my expectations, what an absolute gem in on the Royal Arsenal. The food menu had so many tasty options, the wine menu was extensive and the service was brilliant. This is a perfect place to go on a family meal, date night, or any occasion. The restaurant can be rented out too, which is something to think about if we were very holding a special occasion. If I couldn't get a table seat, i'd happily opt for the bar option having seen it, it's still lovely!
Cannot fault it and I can't wait to return.
I've been to Con Gusto a number of times now, and it always delights - one of the few 'fancy' restaurants in this area of London, and is a very handy location for local food for special occasions. The staff are always pleasant, the ambiance and design of the building is lovely, and the food is very decent - if not often somewhat lacking in seasoning. On my most recent visit I had a butternut squash tart for starters, which was smooth and full of flavour. The main: pork belly, pumpkin and savoy cabbage was a little disappointing - while the pork was done perfectly and melted in the mouth, the lack of seasoning throughout left the dish tasting very flat - the savoy cabbage became more a chore than anything. This was not the case for the Zuppa Inglese dessert- effectively a spiced trifle making use of alchermes liqueur to give a gorgeous kick of nutmeg and cinnamon to the sponge, layered with rich custard and chocolate mousse.. Was the perfect pud for this time of year! Overall, had the main been given more seasoning, it would have been perfect.
Excellent place, excellent food. Good choice of wine. Italian style.
Absolutely fantastic. The food is amazing; some of the best I’ve had in a while. Lovely people too!
The food & service were very good and the restaurant itself was lovely and intimate. I do think the food is a bit overpriced for what it is though.
Had dinner at Con Gusto on Saturday evening. Despite only deciding to go the day before, we were able to reserve a table. As usual, we received a very warm welcome and were shown to our table. Service was prompt but not hurried. At no stage were we imposed upon by over-inquisitive staff - I find it very annoying when waiters constantly ask how everything is! That has never happened here. Guests are allowed to enjoy their food and each others' company. If there is anything that requires the attention of staff, it is easy to get their attention. Once again the food was exquisite. We ordered nibbles, a starter each, a main each and two desserts. Our order contained meat, vegetarian and fish dishes. Our desserts were puddings and mousse dishes. All were were beautifully presented and, most importantly, tasted delicious. We also enjoyed a couple of coktails each, which were delicious too. Con Gusto is a terrific addition to Woolwich. It is a great, intimate venue for a range of occasions. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Lovely small restaurant with a very good food all fresh and prepare on demand.not to be miss.
Really lovely food, high quality ingredients, simple unfussy presentation and very tasty. Would recommend this place.
Amazing food and service. Great place! The best place to eat in Woolwich!
A hidden gem in Woolwich. Great food service and ambiance.
Been here twice now, very cosy venue & the food is amazing. Authentic with a personalised touch, won’t be long until we’re back again!
