Truly amazing food (up there with the best London has to offer), great value and great service...but the chairs are a bit oddly small.
Happy to have celebrated my birthday there. My favourite place in SE London :-)
Always love going to Con Gusto, such an interesting setting and cosy restaurant. Would have given the food a 5/5 if it wasn't for my Ragu that was rather over salted. The remainder of the dishes ordered were very tasty.
The restaurant is charming and the food was very tasty. However, as the venue is full - with all tables occupied - and it there was just one waiter, the service was very time-consuming and the noise level was higher than the normal.
Was our third or fourth visit, food always excellent and very friendly staff. Atmosphere very good as well due to the cosy size of the restaurant and decor also warm and welcoming.
Finally got to eat here, been meaning to for ages. Was much better than expected, food quality amazing and fantastic service. Will definitely visit again soon. Cannot fault anything other than we were un fortunate enough to sit next to some loud and rude people who were extremely noisy, however staff moved us to a different table. Probably best quality food in the area.
Nice food, cosy environment.
We went to Con Gusto to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It wasn’t the first time but we loved every minute of it. The food is always exquisite, the place is cozy and elegant and the service is lovely. We will be going back.
Con Gusto remains one of our favorite restaurants in the world.
It's our first reservation any time we plan a trip to London.
Woolwich is lucky indeed to have such a gem tucked away by the Thames.
Our third visit here and we've never had a bad experience. Everything from the first greeting on arrival to - the ambiance - the meal, and the service was to perfection!
Such a special gem on our doorstep!
Another lovely meal at one of my favourite restaurants
Having ordered the strozzapreti pasta alla marinara, I was disappointed to discover that there were no large prawns in the dish. I was informed that the prawns had been cut up, which meant that you couldn't actually detect them as they were cut so fine upon close inspection. The dish was filled with mussels, which came across as if the cheapest option had been selected. Also, when we were finishing our dinner, rather than inform us that they were closing, our glasses (including water glasses) were removed from our table. When we asked what time they were closing, we were told it was 15 minutes prior, to which end the music promptly stopped creating the feeling of an unwelcome end to the evening.
This was the second time I’ve been here and both times were really nice. Great food, good atmosphere and really attentive staff! Could not fault it!!
Loved it all. 10/10
Wonderful food and service. We go every few months and have never been disappointed.
I've been to Con Gusto on a number of special occasions now, and it never fails to disappoint. It's a lovely venue, fitting so much into a very quaint building without feeling cramped at all. The staff are always pleasant, the food is always nice, and it's never too loud.
I rarely eat Italian out, as it's something my partner and I can cook very well - however Con Gusto do it beautifully, and their thick cut fresh pasta really is quite special.
We had a three course meal, with a bottle of pinot grigio for £120 between the two of us, including service. Decent value, though some of the items on the menu are a tiny bit overpriced for what you get. However, the meal as a whole is filling.
Will be back again for sure!
One of my favourites! Wonderful food. Lovely team
The food, the wine and the service were all very good, although the wine we wanted in the first place was not available.
The only negative point is that unless you are sitting in the sofa then you might feel uncomfortable sitting in such "baby" chairs.
Nice ambience, but the quality of the food had diminished since my last visit, just over a year ago. Our service was rushed and we felt the staff couldn't eject us quickly enough from the restaurant at the end of the evening, as they clearly wanted to pack up and go home. Whilst our waiter was very friendly, the restaurant manager was cold and surly. It's a shame, as the location is great, the decor appealing and the environment intimate. Tables a little too close together to ever feel we could enjoy a private conversation, however. I would on balance recommend as it's still the best option in the area for dining out, but the restaurant should not rest on its laurels. I'll look at other options before heading back myself.
Excellent. Food was lovely the ambience and noise levels perfect and made for a really lovely evening. Im lucky as I live almost next door but clipper down then dinner here with clipper back would be a great evening out
Having been here many times before and given 5 star reviews I am disappointed to have to give it a low rating following my visit on Saturday. I had the slow cooked pork belly served with sweet potato purée however the purée was barely warm and was not enjoyable to eat. My partner had the seafood pasta which was sadly lacking in having much seafood - in fact there were no prawns to be found on the plate. To add to our misery we found that the restaurant had allowed the couple sitting next to us to bring their average sized dog into the restaurant ( not a guide dog) and it took up the space between our tables. If you have been to this restaurant before you will know that space is at a premium. This was not a good experience from a restaurant where I have had so many good experiences. Sadly not this time. Really disappointed.
Probably the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten in. The flavours in the food were just unbelievable! The front of house guy Andy was just so attentive but not in an intrusive way. The ambiance is just superb inside this converted guard house. If you love Italian food, please take the time to eat here you will not be sorry I promise you.
Great experience, delicious food, excellent location.
Excellent food but service was discriminatory. We were deliberately not being served to the point of being ignored. I am not sure why? We were disappointed by the service and when we politely said to the waiter that we preferred not to pay the service charge, we were told that it was up to the manager to waiver this or not and that if we did not pay the service charge, we would not be allowed to ever come to this restaurant again. Surely illegal? Unacceptable in 2019. The couple next to us overheard the waiter speak to us and said that they were not ordering their desert and leaving. I am aware from others in the local community that when you give less favourable feedback even in a polite manner they often respond punitively.
Tried Con Gusto for the first time despite living 5 minutes walk away. Service is alright, nothing outstanding, nothing bad (a tad cold maybe). Food was outstanding, really tasty: good flavours, ingredients were cooked very well (pork belly was melt in the mouth, sweet potato puree was smooth and delicious). Price without a menu is a bit steep, especially considering portions aren't huge, but would definitely go back for an occasion! (£100 for two, two courses and a bottle of wine)
Best food ever, realty enjoy and meal I’ve had in there owners are brilliant and delight
Such a lovely restaurant. We went for a birthday meal (mine) and took advantage of the pre theatre menu. We had our 2yo with us and whilst they were pretty accommodating, there wasn’t anything on the menu that she would eat, and no offer /attempt to accommodate... which was a shame.
Our food was very tasty, and the wine was great. So all in all a good choice, but would have been even better with a slightly more child-conscious service (though the service we got was perfectly good!).
I think the main attraction of this restaurant is its location in a historic building by the river. The food is average to slightly above average (that's subjective of course) and service on the night when we were there was fine, a little understated, but Ok. the pricing was on the high side - four of us, two courses, plus some nibbles, two bottles of wine - about £200. If you want a nice evening, maybe taking the river boat from central London out to Woolwich Arsenal with a v short walk to the restaurant, then you will probably have an enjoyable evening. I suspect that this place does not have a regular clientele.
Great food, great service (and very accommodating), small restaurant so cosy surroundings. Would thoroughly recommend it!
Great food and ambience.
Such a lovely find and a great foodie restaurant. You will need to boo to get a table though. Well worth it
Another wonderful visit to Con Gusto. Highly recommend! A+++++++
I definitely recommend this place. The food is amazing (I recommend the pork belly), the service is efficient and the ambiance is lovely.
If we can describe Con Gusto it is like a Tiffany s box with something precious inside which is the extraordinary food and the kindness of the staffs and the chefs owner.Thank you again for this lovely meal last night and we are so sorry to see our waitress going but very good luck to her for his new life.
Great food as usual ! I came with friends from Oxfordshire, when they visit they always want to eat with you !
The seafood pasta was as delicious as ever...!! My partner had the lamb which was also really nice.
We will be back soo. 😊
A jewel in the Royal Arsenal Riverside crown. Long may it be there. Now my 'local' Italian. Perfect, perfect pasta. Good wines and desserts to die for :).
Recommend a set menu of two of three courses not all three for groups. Two incidents occurred the evening we were there where separate situations a person came to the door to inquire if they could have a coffee another wanted to use the washroom. In both incidents the employee responded VERY rudely to the person making the inquiry and we were sitting where we could hear everything. It accelerated to very bad and the employee accelerated the situation instead of diffusing it. Being able to respond kindly and firmly is acceptable but the employee made the person feel like their request was an outrage. The employee even went to the point or threatening to call the police with the gentleman who quirked if he could have a coffee.......really? And to add to the general treatment and service ...we arrived with a carriage with a newborn and an almost 2 year old to celebrate a grandfather’s birthday who was visiting from Canada.....the entrance door was held by the grandfather for the carriage to enter...and the employee raced over, yelled to not open the door that far, took over the door holding and closed it more with attitude like we had almost broken the door...and then he held it open reluctantly for the carriage to barely enter....his attitude and actions would have had me turn about and leave from such rudeness...but the group had a Birthday plan to fulfill so we followed through. This employee needs training and more experience working with people. No doubt it also has shown up with the fellow employees he works with. His behaviour set the tone of the restaurant....
Prawn starter was average. Pasta tagatella with beef ragout was superb. Chocolate cake with pudding and ice cream average.
Eaten here many times, small place only 25 or so covers so advisable to book, good quality menu but not a huge selection, great ambience.
Lovely intimate setting with amazing food. Have to check it out.
