Always good, excellent food and very friendly family staff
1st time here. Wonderful, helpful staff... food was simply divine.. and good, safe COVID safety.
Can't wait to go back x
Very good service and excellent food. Good value and carefully managed restaurant.
Fantastic food and lovely staff. We felt very welcomed and looked after. Without a doubt the best Chinese I’ve had in a very long time and my partner agreed. The sweet and sour chicken was a personal highlight!
Shame we live so far away!
Beautiful food with good service, also felt very safe with Covid measures in place. Very reasonably priced.
The food was excellent but the restaurant was a bit grubby and could do with a good clean and makeover and the tables were still very packed in which was a bit uncomfortable Covid protection wise
not eaten here for many years but due to our local chinese restaurant turning into a takeout only, we thought we'd go a bit further to Confucius.
Decor, I think, is the same as it was when it opened in the 80's, so a little tired but in a good way as it took me back in time.
The food/service was great and we will return !
Very nice food and friendly staff. Would definitely like to go again.
Always a warm welcome from Gordon and his wife. Well spaced tables and quick service with many smiles. Delicious King Prawns, Chicken Satay, Duck with Plum sauce and Yeung Chow fried rice. Looking forward to our next visit!
Confucius say - I wouldn't recommend. The food was - not good. It was either the chef's day off or the reviews we read were for another restaurant. I don't normally have to leave negative feedback but some of the dishes were awful + I sent them back. There was an attempt to improve one of the dishes by recooking it but the result was the same. Like I say, maybe we went on an off day.
Good value and nice atmosphere. Food good and the service is very attentive
Excellent service with a smile, food delicious and quickly served piping hot. So sad this is our first meal since before Christmas but looking forward to going again with a friend next month.
Our second visit to this nice restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner in the centre of the city. We will definitely pay another visit on our next trip.
Table of 6 for 50th birthday soup tasteless had to leave was removed from bill, all other dishes very gloopy not the quality of other restaurants
Very good meal as always and extra good value due to Rishi Sunak’s offer.
Sadly table of loud Eastern European’s made it difficult for us to hold our own conversation. Waitress very nervous with gloves and two face masks. Still very good evening.
The food here is very good and elevated from other Chinese restaurants with scallops, cod and fillet steak all available on the menu. The restaurant was a little busy and seemed understaffed as we had to wait 5-10 minutes for our bill after requesting it. Whilst the food was very good, we ate here as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme which made it considerably better value than it would have otherwise been (£47 full price for two people to have 1 starter, two main dishes and one beer).
The food was great and the service pretty good. There were 3 of us and we wanted Menu CC which required 4 people or more. They said we could have it if we paid for 3.5 people. We declined and took menu ‘BB instead which was for a minimum of 3 people. Overall it was good and quick.
First time visit prompted by the government dine out to help out scheme. Food was good but the restaurant was dirty. Dust everywhere, plates were dirty and had to be sent back - pretty shocking to be honest.
Being in the middle of a pandemic where hygiene is top of the list opening up after lockdown without bothering to clean the restaurant is sloppy at best and negligent at worst.
We had to return one main dish as was cold. We were given hot plates when we ordered the food so when the food came they were cold. We were given flannels for after the duck which were cold.
Drying up cutlery and putting away in the middle of the restaurant is not really what are you expect to see or hear on a night out. A few tweaks need to be made to improve the customer service of this restaurant and a smarter dress would impress.
Sadly there were no other diners until later on. More fool them!
Everything was of the normal expected high standard.
Very enjoyable indeed.
Food delicious. Strick COVID19 safety.
Would certainly go again.
An excellent restaurant with great quality food - the best for many miles!
We go here a lot both lunch time and evening meals always a lovely place to eat food always very nice
Glad to be able to eat at Confucius again. Food as good as ever.
Good COVID precautions done.
Really enjoyed our meal here very good service & a lovely restaurant would recommend it
Delicious food every time. Mr and Mrs Lee are always very welcoming.
We have been eating at this restaurant for more than 10 years.
Great tasting food, at a very reasonable price. Good service and a friendly environment.
Lovely food, and very friendly service and reasonably well priced
Need to book as very busy - was a Friday evening
Lots of takeaways coming from kitchen which is always a good sign
We have been going to Confucius for many years and would not go to another Chinese restaurant in the area. The quality of the food is consistently excellent and we are always made welcome by the friendly hosts. Very highly recommended
Old fashioned Chinese in a good way. Family run. A couple of big parties meant it was noisy and service not great, but friendly when it came. Could definitely do with a re dec, I’d guess last done 20 years ago.
We will re visit and hopefully it will be a little more ambient. Nice staff though and the food was average, I’ll try different dishes next time. Worth a try but not exceptional by any stretch of the imagination.
Love this place. The food is gorgeous and it's amazing value for money. My only comment to the restaurant would be that my food is always cold by the time I get 2/3 of the way through because they don't serve the food on hot plates. I'm a regular though and that won't change even if the plates aren't pre heated!!
You goes there for the food, which is always very good and well cooked; you don’t go there for the ambience or decor. In truth it is very noisy and that’s more often than not the staff shouting to/at each other but, based on the dishes we’ve had, you can’t fault the food.
Fantastic evening and the food was amazing.
I would highly recommend Confucius
Food very tasty, unfortunately long delay in getting food , over 1 hr for main course, takeaways seem to take priority. Drinks a tad on the expensive side.
Lovely food and very good service, we'd recommend. It was noisy the last time we went but that was due to a large party, nothing to do with the restaurant. Excellent.
Outstanding restaurant, great food and very friendly staff.
Really delicious food. They made us a dish off the menu. Hot chocolate was fantastic, according to my daughter.
The food was excellent and would happily eat there again, however the decor is tired. we haven't been to this restuarant for some years and it appeared that nothing has changed. could do with a smarten up!
Best Chinese I’ve ever had! Superb.
