We had such a wonderful dinner last night! The hostess, Teah, gave us such a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. CJ was an excellent server, and the Supervisor, Leia, and the Manager, Dan, helped create such a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Chef Marlos even stopped by our table after preparing an outstanding meal, which made the experience feel extra special. On our way out, Tasting Room Attendants Deena and Jim were wonderful and helped us pick up our Wines of the Month. Thank you all for making our evening so enjoyable, we love CH Gurnee! :)

Met a friend for brunch, we were one of the first ones there.... from the start everyone was very friendly and ready to go! I had the breakfast pizza, it is so good and I'm so glad it was added to the menu! and of course our mimosas were great too!

The service was excellent. Normally food is fabulous. However, my daughter ordered surf & turf and the lobster was burnt and not pleasing to eat. The price for this meal should have been cooked perfectly.

Visited on a slow night and unfortunately the experience didn’t reflect what we’ve come to expect from Cooper’s Hawk. Despite a near-empty dining room, we waited an unusually long time to be seated — then were placed in the far back corner next to a loud party. That side of the restaurant was dark, cold, and noisy, while the rest of the dining room looked warm and inviting. The contrast was hard to ignore. Service was the real low point. We weren’t offered drinks until we were halfway through our appetizers, and didn’t actually receive them until well into our entrées. For a restaurant at this price point, that’s simply not acceptable. We’ve enjoyed Cooper’s Hawk before and know what it’s capable of — which is exactly why this visit was so disappointing. Hoping it was just an off night.

We love Coopershawk and are wine member’s. However the last two reservations made in Gurnee have been disappointing. Our reservations have made for the bar area. When we check in we are told, sorry but we aren’t going to have your table available. It’s way too busy and we cannot ask our guests to leave. But, we have a booth in the dining area. To me, why make reservations for where you want to sit if it’s not available… twice now? I can understand once, but twice! I’m happy they have the business, but what about accommodating those who make reservations for a specific time and place to sit? Do better!

Yes, the restaurant is family-friendly and can accommodate accessible seating. Many guests bring families, celebrate birthdays, and note a kids menu and family-friendly entrees. Reviewers also specifically mention staff accommodating guests with wheelchairs. For particular accessibility needs (table location, wheelchair ramps, or to ensure space), call ahead so the team can prepare.

The Gurnee location offers a main dining room, a lively bar area with booths and high-top seating, and outdoor patio seating (heated patio mentioned by guests). While the restaurant does not list a private dining room for bookings, reviewers note occasional quieter booths and a back room used for special family celebrations. If you need a specific spot (bar booth, patio, or a quieter table), request it when you book.

Yes, Cooper’s Hawk Gurnee can be a great date-night spot if you’re after good food, wine and a lively atmosphere. Guests repeatedly praise the wine tastings, thoughtful wine list, steak and risotto dishes, and attentive servers for special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays). If you want a quieter dinner, ask for a booth in the bar area or an early seating, reviewers note the main dining room can get loud on weekend nights. Reservations are recommended for evenings.

The best time depends on your priorities. For a quieter experience, choose weekday lunch or an early weekday dinner, guests often call midweek lunches “pleasant and less noisy.” If you want the full wine-tasting and lively energy, arrive for happy hour or an early evening on weekdays. Weekends and late evenings (Fri–Sat after 7 pm) are busiest and louder, so expect a livelier crowd then.

Portions are generally generous but can vary by dish. Many guests comment that entrees and sandwiches offer hearty servings (some say portions are “huge” and good for sharing), while a few guests note smaller cuts on select steaks or skimpy risotto servings on isolated visits. The Life Balance and brunch items trend smaller and lighter by design. If you’re unsure, ask your server about portion size or plan to share an appetizer and dessert.

A formal waiting-list policy isn’t specified, but guests frequently report waits even with reservations during peak times. Reservations are recommended; if you arrive early you may still wait for seating. Some guests mention OpenTable notifications and challenges, calling the restaurant directly can help if you need to be seated quickly or want to confirm a reservation on busy nights.

Cooper’s Hawk Gurnee is energetic and social, many guests describe it as lively, sometimes loudly so. The restaurant’s vibe often leans toward upbeat and busy (music can feel “club-like” at times), which is great for groups and celebrations. If you prefer a calmer dinner, ask for a booth in the bar area, outdoor patio seating (when available), or an early reservation, guests note those options can be more relaxed.

Yes, guests mention an outdoor/heated patio and several reviews note enjoying patio seating for a quieter meal. Availability is seasonal and may depend on weather; call ahead when booking to request patio seating and confirm whether it’s available the day you plan to visit.

Yes, Cooper’s Hawk is a multi-location restaurant and winery brand with many locations. Guests reference other nearby Cooper’s Hawk restaurants (Wheeling, Kildeer, Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha plans) and the brand promotes a national wine-club program and tasting rooms, so you’ll find multiple branches across regions.

Yes, the team is receptive to reasonable special requests, but it’s best to call ahead. Guests report success asking for seating preferences (bar booth, window booth, patio), birthday touches and allergy accommodations. For wine club pick-ups, reservations, or large-group seating, call the restaurant so staff can confirm availability and note your requests on the reservation.

Yes, families and kids frequent Cooper’s Hawk Gurnee. Guests often celebrate birthdays and family meals here; the menu includes a Kids option (Sunrise Breakfast) and family-friendly appetizers. While the overall vibe can be lively, many parents enjoy the variety of menu choices and the approachable atmosphere. For younger children, consider an earlier seating or the bar-area booths if you prefer calmer surroundings.

Busiest: weekend evenings (especially Fri–Sat after 6–7 pm), holiday nights and brunch service, guests repeatedly report loud, packed dining rooms at these times. Quietest: weekday lunches and early weekday dinners are calmer and better for conversation. Early happy hour and off-peak weekdays (Tue–Thu) provide a lively but less-crowded experience.

Yes, the Gurnee location operates on major holidays for special meals (guests describe Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve service). Holiday hours and special menus are occasional and may differ from regular hours, so call ahead and reserve early for holiday dining.

Casual dress is appropriate. The restaurant lists its dress code as Casual Dress, and guests typically arrive in smart-casual or casual attire, suitable for date nights, family dinners, or wine tastings. If you have a special event, you can always call ahead to confirm any expectations.

Midweek (Tuesday–Thursday) is often the best day for a more relaxed visit, guests praise weekday lunches and early dinners for being quieter and better-paced. If you’re after happy-hour deals, social energy or weekend brunch, choose Fridays, Saturdays or Sunday brunch but expect more crowding and noise. For celebrations, check staff availability and reserve early.
