Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Rockville
Extensive wine selection and a wine club. Many menu options with well prepared food. Friendly service. Contemporary decor.
With a reservation we were seated immediately. The tables are socially distanced. The server was upbeat and friendly. Asked if we were members of a club they sponsor. We are not- no further explanation or attempts to get us to join. The server was attentive and checked back just the right amount of time. The food was mediocre. The Bisque was thin- wouldn’t order again. The Lux Chardonnay was delicious. Balanced and delicious with the fish. Grouper with mustard sauce was okay. Pistachios were lost by the mustard sauce. The salmon was good. Overall, it was great to be back in a restaurant.
Great spot with good food and service
The service was ok.
Disturbed that I asked to have a cake and candles brought to the table and instead, they boxed up two pieces of chocolate in a to go container.
This was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner.
Extensive menu. Everything I have tried I have greatly enjoyed.
The food here is always good. I have yet to have something that I did not like.
Always a good choice to visit Coopers
Matt at the bar is awesome!
Staff and service was outstanding. Environment was excellent. Food and drinks were suburb,
Great service and great food
Dropped the ball for my birthday: I researched restaurants and decided to eat here ON MY BIRTHDAY with my mom and brother. I was given birthday wishes by the front desk staff who never told the waitress...
We explained how we had never been here before and were given the reheated information. We all ordered drinks, which were served with an extra large chunk of ice, barely fitting any alcohol around it; Dewars on the rocks, Manhattan on the Rocks, and a third Whiskey drink (can’t remember the name) were not worth the price.
As an appetizer, I ordered the lobster and crab bisque after reading the reviews online: it had bits and pieces of crab and lobster and lots of vegetables. (2/5 stars) The bread was served with no explanation of what kind it was.
For our meals: I ordered the fish sandwich which LOOKS fabulous but in reality was very breaded and greasy. I had to request a fresh order of fries because the first batch were hard, cold, and difficult to chew. (2/5 stars) My brother ordered the cheeseburger which arrived WELL done/burnt, but he still ate it because he was hungry. I thought it was strange that the waitress never asked how he wanted it cooked. (2/5 stars) My mom ordered the prime rib sandwich with a side of fruit. The meat was super pink- she was never asked how she wanted that cooked either- and came with a small dish of aJus. (2/5 stars) My mom decided to take half home and cook the meat more to her liking.
Before we knew it, a staff member who was more dressed up than a bar back (the manager?) was clearing our table! 1.) I had to ask her “Do you do anything special for birthdays?” Her reply “Yeah, we have some truffles.” 2.) We were never told about how the restaurant sells truffles and the flavors. 3.) We were never offered any dessert or after-dinner drinks. It felt as though they just wanted us out of there.
Overall, it was a VERY disappointing birthday dinner in which I felt WAY less than a princess on my special day :-(
One of the best places for food/wine/ambience/attentive service! Great for a date, catching up with friends or family gatherings :) Food prices are reasonable, wine prices are very low without compromising the quality. I only wish they had charcuterie option.
My girlfriend and I celebrated our birthdays at Cooper’s Hawk. Had a fabulous server, Sarah, who provided us with birthday truffles at the end of our meal. Drank a marvelous pineapple martini! We shared the Drunken Shrimp, Egg Rolls, flatbread and we each had a cup the the most delicious lobster crab bisque-yummy!!
Thank you Cooper’s Hawk fora memorable birthday celebration!!
Server was excellent She really did a good job Handled our one issue quickly
Nice atmosphere and food delicious. Great wine selections as well. Did indicate it was a birthday celebration; however never recognized by the server -- the person who checked us in did mention it.
Delicious and great service! Always know that I can go to Cooper Hawk for a great meal.
From start to finish the service the food all was excellent!!! Highly recommend.
This was our first time here and everything was great. The appetizers were big and very good and the entree's were terrific. The service was great and the wine and beer were excellent. They also have an extensive gluten free menu.
I love this restaurant and I am a Wine Club member and enjoy the monthly wines. I went there with my husband and grandkids for my birthday. We were seated next to a party of loud obnoxious (possibly drunk?) women.
My granddaughter got the filet and said it was wonderful, grandson said turkey burger was good. I got the shrimp and scallop bucatini - tasty, but the shrimp (3 of them) were tiny, about the size of a dime. The scallops were also very tiny, but tender. I was really disappointed in that.
Then we ordered dessert, delicious, but, they also brought me a birthday gift of 2 free truffles. I wish they would have mentioned that when I ordered my dessert.
Anyway, not our best experience, but will not stop me from going again.
Overall the restaurant is nice and food was okay. I gave it only a 4 star, because there is always room for improvement. The mashed potatoes were a little under seasoned and the greens were over seasoned and chicken was a little dry. The pretzel bread was really good and the service was good. I liked how onother waitress also asked if we were doing okay whenever she walked by. Our waiter was in training, but did good for his first day on the job. The manager or owner stood in the middle of the floor most of the time like a leader having a bad day. That wasn't appealing to see especially when he stood in my view when I wanted to look straight. My friends laughed when I said he frowns like a person in need of a laxative.lol
Great restaurant, great service, great food and drinks! One of my favorite places!
Service was horrific but food is good
Had a wonderful lunch and followed it with a wine tasting. Staff was great and so was the wine (many options). We left with a total of 7 bottles.
The food was delicious as always. Everything we got was outstanding. The service was slower than usual, and we were surprised how long it took to get some wine in a winery. :-) Since capacity restrictions have been lifted and more tables are occupied, the noise level is a little high for our taste. We tried the Cooper's Hawk Ale for the first time and loved it. We did have a mix-up on one item, but we were very pleased with the gracious response. Already planning our next visit.
Service just checked in way too often, which was kind, but consistently interrupting conversation at the table and not enough time to review menu, etc.
For the second time there , the air conditioning made the entire restaurant frigid. It was so cold last evening we had to go sit outside where it was actually warmer. Bring a parka if you plan to dine at this Cooper’s Hawk restaurant in Rockville
Had an amazing time for my birthday. Servers and bartenders were very energetic and we loved the ambiance.
From the hostess to the server, everyone was cordial and eager to please. Service was excellent as well as the food and the presentation. Great wines pair well with all the wonderful choices. I had the Madeira chicken and my husband had the beer battered fish sandwich. We're coming back next week with friends.
First time I went with guests to the Rockville restaurant and I was very pleased. I usually go to the Reston restaurant and have to say that Rockville has much more ambiance. As always the food was very good; do try the Shaved Brussels Sprouts and their Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon.
The bathrooms really needed some attention. There was no toilet tissue in 2/3 stalls, the 3rd stall was not in service and there was no toilet paper. The food and service was great though.
The food was okay but very salty and the service took way too long (they weren’t super crowded)
CH doesn’t disappoint! The food is amazing from appetizers to desserts. Introduced our best friends to CH and they were highly impressed. Our only disappointment is that the closest location is 1.5 hours away and wish they would open one in Baltimore.
The food is very good at a reasonable price, and the service is always attentive.
Food and service were outstanding! The acoustics in the restaurant could be improved..even at 50% capacity, we could hear the party at the table on the other side of a partition (one person at that table was speaking rather loudly, though).
Excellent meal, overall!
Could only get a reservation in the bar and was worried about the noise level but all went well. Food was delicious and our server Matt was attentive and super personable.
Can’t wait to book another evening.
Scallops and short rib were excellent and the wine was wonderful.
I took a friend here for wine tasting and dinner. She loves wine and was really impressed by this place. The wines were great, the food was great, the dessert was great. This is a fun place to bring friends.
The only thing that was odd was that we had originally reserved outside seating and they had assured me when I called that if it rained, we would be moved inside. When we got there, they told us that if it rained on us, there was nothing they would be able to do, so we would have to decide at the beginning inside or out. We chose inside, even though we would have been more comfortable with outside due to COVID. While we were dining, it started to pour buckets. My friend and I discussed how it would have been horrible to not be moved inside if we had chosen outside. So that rubbed me the wrong way. It probably won't stop me from coming again, but I will probably wait until I feel completely comfortable with inside before I make another reservation there.
Wine came late, fish sandwich had way too much breading, and dessert was undercooked. The server did not check in even though the restaurant was not full. Overall a disappointing experience
Always a great meal. And the drinks are good too.
I really like Cooper’s Hawk. It was almost perfect, but I thought my wait at the table was a bit long. I know they are short staff.
