Copperwood Tavern - Loudoun
With 20 local craft beers on draft, 30 small-batch whiskeys, & a superb wine selection. We enter every lottery for one off bourbons resulting in multiple offerings you can’t get anywhere else in VA. Our 30-foot craft bar is also stocked with southern VA;s white whiskey. Yes, that's moonshine!
Our One Loudoun location is stunning with a 20-foot high garage door to patio bar. On the dining room side, enjoy floor to ceiling windows & a cozy fire place. Long country tables are perfect for business lunches or dinner with friends! Be sure to take advantage of our fire pits outside this winter season. We have blankets available & lounge chairs perfect for relaxing with an after dinner campfire cocktail.
Berkshire Pork Chop
14oz double cut, brined Berkshire pork with ancho-chili rub, peach chutney and roasted pork jus
Ground Venison, kidney beans, plum tomatoes. Topped with sour cream, cheddar cheese and scallions
Duck confit, potatoes, onion, bell pepper, hollandaise & 2 poached eggs
We had a small table on their outdoor terrace. There was some sound from passing sports cars, but it was not very noisy. Our teens enjoyed watching the passing sports cars and there are plenty to view at One Loudoun. The food was very fresh and beautifully presented. One could tell that this is a farm to table restaurant. There were many entrees to choose and a good selection of starters. We recommend the Lamb Shank, the Tavern Salad with Shrimp and the Steak Salad with Brussels Sprouts. We had made an online reservation and we were given a choice of either indoor or outdoor dining. The indoors atmosphere was pleasant, but we chose outdoor dining since it is summer time. The customer service from beginning to end was friendly and energetic. We will return.
I would suggest some different Bourbon Cocktails. The one with the bacon in it was just okay. Also dessert options was limited even for a selected menu. Other than that It was a Sunday dinner and my husband and I will be back again.
Server 0livia was excellent.
Not a great experience — service was a mess and the food was just ok. Not sure if this was due to COVID and lack of staff but either way the experience wasn’t good. Still over-tipped to help the staff.
1st Time Visitor; aired on the side caution and ordered Pan Seared Salad; would not order again My lunch mate ordered the grilled chicken salad and was not pleased.
Food was great, drinks were great. Staff was awesome.
We have been several times.....each time disappointed. We keep wanting it to be good. Service was as expected, however food was the disappointment. Most items when delivered to the table were luke-warm. We have spoken up in the past, and they have provided us with a GC. This time, we didn't - as we won't be returning.
We sat out on the patio and enjoyed excellent service for our Happy Hour outing. The oysters were fantastic and the staff was attentive and very respectful of the current social distancing regulations.
Great experience, great drinks, & great staff! Will be returning!
The lamb was delicious. The pork chop very good with an excellent sauce.
Due to covid the place was nearly empty, killing the usual casual ambiance.
Our waiter was great! He was super nice and definitely gave us a good experience. We sat outside on the patio, as we brought our dog with us. Our waiter was great with our dog. We were seated quickly. The food was delicious and came out within a reasonable time. We got waffles, pancakes, the duck hash, and an omelette. We absolutely loved it! We would definitely return in the future!
Overall it was good.
nice outdoor space, good for social distancing.
ideal for executive lunch, good but not pretentious
We had a great time!
We went to Copperwood Tavern because they advertised specials that we were interested in. I even registered for the special upon making the reservation and it was not honored at the restaurant. Honestly it was disappointing to go out for the first time in months and not get what was promised or advertised.
Tables and booth had crumbs in it when we were seated.
Iced tea had floaties and when we returned it, waiter told us they forgot to clean the machine so it has residue floating in it.
I have to caveat this review by saying upfront that I believe that some of what occurred might be the result of COVID-19, but it wasn't the best experience, which is sad because it was our first time out to restaurant since COVID. The food was good once we got it, but there were serious issues with getting our food in a timely fashion (again, I assume COVID may have contributed, but it doesn't eliminate the need for decent service). I am pretty sure we waited more than 45 minutes for our entrees food to arrive, with no explanation at all. We didn't actually complain, but waited patiently because we were frankly glad to get out, but after about 45 minutes a server (not our own) came over to say "we are sorry, there is a problem with your order, here are some appetizers." It was nice that they brought us appetizers, but we were never given an explanation as to what the problem was, and no manager came to speak to us. And then, after another 15 or 20 minutes, our food arrived MINUS my entree (french toast without the bananas foster). I had to wait another 10 minutes before our server came back, and she tried to say that the plain toast she brought was my french toast. No. After another 20 minutes, after everyone in my party had already finished eating, she brought my french toast WITH the bananas foster that I specifically said I didn't want. At that point, I just wanted to leave. It would have been nice to have someone come out and apologize, but that never happened. It's a shame because I don't want to drive to Shirlington to eat at Copperwood Tavern, because the food is really good, but I guess I will have to.
Love this restaurant with dog friendly patio and delicious southern style food. Server was nice and even though I had to send back an overcooked duck, they did it without any trouble. Would have liked maybe a small discount for overcooking and extending our meal by 20min as we waited for it but overall, nice experience. We will return.
Nice lunch. Service was friendly and food was good. Will go back again.
Interesting menu and food is very good. I have 2 minor complaints: 1) waiter did not bring any bread ( corn muffins ). 2) all of the sides are offered as shared sides. I wanted to order a side item but did not want to pay for a large shared side
Great food and great service. The only thing I would say do is remove the trees on the side that overlooks the road facing the Circle K. When sitting on that side, the view is really bad because of the trees. Would be a much nicer view.
Warm and inviting rustic atmosphere and very good food. My order of grilled chicken was mistakenly not included with my meal when it was served, so I had to wait on it. Otherwise, a very good meal and would recommend it.
Wonderful dining experience. Food delicious, waitress, hostess and manager very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere open and airy with a beautiful view.
We had a wonderful brunch. Food was delicious. The bill came and we were shell shocked. $50 for 2 people for brunch! Plain old regular drip coffee was $4 a cup!!!! $4!!! I can get a venti drip at Starbucks for under 3!!!! Absolutely ridiculous.
Overpriced for what it is. Dessert better than entree. Okay service..
The food was decent. The service was slow and so was the tavern.
Not only would I recommend Copperwood to friends, I take my friends! Brunch never fails; try the gouda grits or the Western Omelette! We love their seasonal pancakes, but the French toast could be *less crusty and dry. Just sayin'. Overall, we love all the food and have enjoyed everything including Sunday brunch, lunch, and dinner - the hamburgers and steaks are amazing!
This is easily my favorite restaurant in the area. I’m only out here for work one week a month or so, but the service, food, ambiance, and overall vibe of Copperwood are super fantastic and comforting. I try and get here once a trip (Twice this time.)
I will say that I came here a few times with vegetarian co-workers and the selection isn’t stellar. But is passable. I’d love to see an Impossible burger or equivalent offered. I only note this because the menu is so meat focused, keep with the theme. Why have the option be a squash dish? Play to your strengths!
That aside, literally every server, manager, and bartender I’ve interacted with I could easily be friends with. Keep up the awesome job, Copperwood management. You’re kicking butt.
Wonderful food and service. The brunch menu was varied and reasonably priced. We were looking for an upscale place with an early opening time. Most choices had weekend brunch starting at 10:00 or 11:00. Copperwood opened at 9:00, which was perfect for our plans. Server was personable and attentive. Will definitely return.
This is my new favorite restaurant. I went with three close friends, and we all wanted to try something new. Everyone really enjoyed dinner, and we all ordered something different. The service was great, and it was nice to have some separation from the bar area to lessen the noise and feel like we were more in a restaurant. The menu is spectacular!
Great food. Copperwood Tavern has a great idea of getting food from local sources. The waitstaff was very courteous and knowledgeable. Great overall experience.
Celebrated a birthday and everything was perfect would recommend highly.
Very loud, slow service, and average food that was overpriced. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Our entrees (steaks) were barely warm as was the apple pie dessert. Staff promptly fixed it. Steak was chewy although well seasoned.
Busy evening on 15th, but my food was cold. Sitting next to the outside doors, and you can feel a draft.
Service was very poor bordering on awful. Nearly had to literally grab a waiter to get his attention to replace a drink after it was served in a glass with a large chip. Food was good with one major exception - my rib eye steak and side of mushrooms were cold. Given the poor service to that point I did not want to send them back and have to wait another 20 mins while others in my party ate. The "rib eye" wasn't a rib eye cut - I think it was closer to a flank steak.
Other guests enjoyed their salmon and duck and the appetizers and sides were good - noting special but good.
The decor is such that it's very noisy and difficult to hear from the constant din - everyone's conversation just echoes off the walls making it quite noisy to the point that everyone talks louder which makes it worse. Wait staff were soft spoken and couldn't be heard or hear unless we yelled.
Perhaps a fun place to drink at the bar and watch sports when you expect noise - won't go there for dinner again.
Our server Evelyn was friendly and very helpful in pointing out that we were still in time to take advantage of the Happy Hour oysters. It was a bit crazy but it was Valentines Day. Evelyn convinced one of us to try the surf and turf special fo the evening which he enjoyed very much. My wife and I opted for the tomahawk steak. We were disappointed that it wasn’t presented standing like during our previous visit. Visually it just wasn’t as impressive but the server explained that the standing presentation caused some steaks to slip and fall off the platter. Copperwood may need to consider a new and better platter system with stand to again impressively present the tomahawk. Other steak places have developed more stable stands. The splatchcoked chicken was moist and tender with crispy which another in our group enjoyed. We enjoyed the dinner: food was good, service a little spotty due to Valentine crowd (our second round of wine arrived after we were finished with our entrees). But all the staff were helpful and friendly - made for an enjoyable evening.
What an amazing night! Every dish we ate was flavorful and well prepared. JaRon is the best waiter with excellent food suggestions! The short ribs were tender, the pork chop was seasoned well and brussel sprouts nice and crispy. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was delicious and the service outstanding!
The baked brie was excellent.
