We arrived and were told we could not be accommodated in main dining area, despite us having a reservation. They said we could just seat ourselves at the bar tables. I reiterated we had a reservation and they said they would see what they could do. They then proceeded to lead us to outside tables with no shade and it was 85 degrees out, not happening. So we sat at a table at the bar. Our server was also the bartender it seemed like. She was inattentive, forgot to two drinks on two separate occasions (there was only 6 of us) and checked on us only once. We had to go up to the bar 3 times when we needed something. The food took awhile and was ok. Again, we had a few problems where we needed our server but she was nowhere to be found. Once we communicated the problems with two dishes, nothing happened. We waited around 10 minutes until we had to chase her down again to get it fixed. I couldn’t believe what a terrible experience it was. Then, later that day I received an email from open table that we missed our reservation. Seriously.
Food was great. Service was a little lacking. Was odd to not have any music playing (as a result a neighboring table was playing music on their phone).
Server was awesome, as were the other servers. Super friendly with great recommendations.
Great food, great service!
It felt like a summer night underneath the starlight!
The food would have been better if hot... unfortunately with it being Mother’s Day it was crazy busy and the kitchen had trouble getting isync. Will definitely give it a second try!
Let me begin with it was Mothers Day and very rainy/dreary outside so eating in was everyone's only option! They we'rent taking reservations but thank goodness we had one - however we reserved a table at 11 and didn't get seated til past 1130 (they did come around with mimosas while we waited so nice perk). The hostesses weren't the friendliest and we watched them tell people without reservations they couldn't help them. They just weren't very interactive with the hoard of people piling in around the door. Our server was fantastic, efficient, knowledgeable and kind. The food was sub par - omelettes are very small and bland, Benedicts are better, chicken and waffles was good but not extraordinary and Gouda grits were a full 5 minutes behind the rest of the table; the drinks were good but weak (and pricey). Not sure we'll be back for brunch again. Other meals here are much more impressive for the price.
Excellent food as usual, only complaint would be not having any espresso drink options.
Brunch for Mother’s Day.
Our second time there.
Love the food
First time we went service terrible but we gave them another chance and went a second time but the service was as bad if not worse than the first
Probably won’t go back even though the food is almost worth it
Great place to go near Dulles for great local, farm-to-table food and drink. The Filet was perfect...
Very noisy. Eggs cold, meat tough. Not worth the money.
Good neighborhood farm fresh restaurant in Ashburn
I don't understand all the hype regarding Copperwood. We were sat at 11:30 on a Sunday and the place was dead. That being the case you would've thought it would be a great experience. Our waitress was horrible. We gave her our order for an appetizer and our meals. Well our meals come out and never our appetizer. She clearly wrote it down, but then flipped over the paper to write our main meals. Well, we aren't going to say anything regarding the app since the main meal is already out. She didn't even check on us until we were finished with our meals to then ask if we needed anything. There was no one in the restaurant so she clearly wasn't busy. I compare the breakfast food with Cracker Barrel. Nothing to write home about! I also had a gift card that was given to me by Copperwood for liking there Facebook page. It was clearly in the envelope saying it was from Copperwood. She came back stating she tried it 5 times and it didn't work. I know this isn't her fault, but if you are going to reward someone for "liking" you page, make sure you send them a working gift card. Very poor on the restaurant. Overall, my husband I were not pleased with our experience.
Stopped at Copperwood from previous visits. Great cocktail and bourbon menu. We had planned for a fancier place for our anniversary but this turned out perfectly. Got to sit outdoors with a little fire on and enjoy each other quietly. Our server just knew when to appear and disappear. Great food and excellent service.
Great service and food. The salads were super and I would recommend them. If you love oysters then this is the place to come
Great food and awesome weather.
Good food and drink but a little pricy for what it was.
Service was poor, eggs undercooked, and gave us an undesirable table with no room for plates and food. We had a reservation and while I understand it was a busy day, there were several better tables available. Even after we asked, they couldn’t accommodate us. Egg ordered over medium came out undercooked with the clear slimy egg white . Yuck! Had to ask for refills on coffee and water. We’ve dined here for dinner before and loved it. Brunch was underwhelming all around.
Good food and service but with all sides being separate from entree price, the meal winds up much more expensive than entree prices would suggest
This was not their best effort.
We ordered drinks and after 5 minutes, were told they had run out of mint (for the julep). It took another 7 minutes to get the replacement drink.
I ordered a steak, medium, and eventually, it came but very well done. Apologies all around, they took it back, and when the new steak came if was medium well done. Hardly any pink. I ate it, but did not enjoy, as it was overdone and pretty gristly.
Everyone was sorry and they did not charge for the steak, but i would have preferred to pay for a proper steak.
My girlfriend and I love Copperwood! We've always had amazing dining experiences, from service, to food to drinks and all.. Always nice staff and clean restaurant.
Place wasn’t overly crowded yet the acoustics and noise were loud and it took our waitress forever to greet us. We could barely hear, understand what she was saying and in turn she acted like she couldn’t hear us or didn’t care. Must have been an off night because other people seem to like it. Food was pretty good but nothing to write home about. Might try it again if we can sit out on the patio and have a friendly server.
The food was good, the drinks were great, and bartender Eric was the best. Highly recommend!
I have recommended Copperwood Tavern to our friends. Excellent food and value in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent wine choices.
Seth our server was wonderful in every way imaginable!
Everything here is made from scratch and the breadth of the menu was impressive. We had the lobster appetizer that melted in your mouth.
The salads were huge and dressed properly.
Can’t wait to return.
The restaurant has a very nice design, but be advised for larger groups, you will be sitting on a wooden bench. It was not an issue for us, but it might be if you have older individuals in your party. All of the meals in our party of 6 were delicious (salmon was perfect, steak and brussels salad, cheeseburger sliders, huge grilled cheese, grilled asparagus, parmesan frites, 6 cheese macaroni) but all dishes are individually priced. On a Sunday evening there were very few people there. The service was excellent but the food delivery time was a little long, which I believe was mainly due to lack of customers, which is a shame.
Copperwood has great potential, with a large craft beer and wine selection, a great location, nice outdoor patio (which is dog friendly), and a delicious (but small) menu. They should revisit their prices to encourage repeat customers. They need more a lot more volume to have success.
We love farm to table restaurants so we were so excited the try this place. It was the most greasy, over cooked food that we have ever had. The Brussel sprouts were drowning in grease, the spaghetti squash was so over cooked and looked like mush and the filet was the worst cut of meat that I’ve eve seen. Will never go back.
The food was amazing which improved the rating of our overall experience. The service was lacking for the first 10-20 minutes until we were vocal about it. We only had water even though we ordered drinks, all other tables had their popcorn and drinks were starting to come out. I’m not sure if our server didn’t add our drinks or if it was slow coming out. After we told her that we weren’t happy with the service thus far, she started acting like she cared. Service improved and the food was incredible. This was my second time here and she was the server last time and she did the same thing last time, just disappeared forever and didn’t seem to care about her tables.
We really enjoyed our dining experience. We decided to have dinner here while waiting for our 3 hour reservation at Top Golf. The food was amazing. We shared the Tomahawk steak for two and a side of Brussel Sprouts. Our Server Jeff was the best. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great suggestions. I cant wait to dine here again with friends.
The decor is nice. The large windows to the outside made it feel open but the were dirty. The service was sub-standard.
Prior to concert by the Loudoun Symphony, I chose this restaurant for the location. Very expensive for the value. New York prices with a view of the gas station. Most offensive is the dead deer head presiding over the restaurant, which claims to be “farm to table”. The taxidermy does not lend freshness to the atmosphere. The a la a carte selections force the price of a reasonable meal higher than the value. My vegetarian selection. The spaghetti squash , did not taste fresh and the sun dried tomatoes were not edible. This is a great place for rowdy families who want to let their kids run unrestrained.
We had a good server, I just think it isn't appropriate to hand unwrapped straws to customers when we don't know what the server last touched when coming back to our table after making the request when ordering our drinks.
Food was excellent and the service was also very good. We had four kids and they can be a challenge at times. There wasn't a long wait for food and they handled all the requests (items on the side) without missing a beat. It's a great looking restaurant and they handled our party of 9 very well. We will certainly come back again and would recommend it for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Food was delicious, services from Jeremy was awesome, we really enjoy the evening
We and our friends very much enjoyed our lunches yesterday at Copperwood Tavern. We liked the relaxed atmosphere, our waiter Jeff was excellent and the menu varied and different. We might suggest you consider having a Sides menu.
I went to Copperwood for dinner because I had a gift card. I don't live in Loudoun. I found the steak I had (the 14 oz. ribeye) to be delicious, as was the onion soup. The soup is loaded with cheese, and very tasty. The mushroom croistini (sp?) was delicious. I thought the Tavern Salad was boring. It either needs a little more dressing or the dressing needs to be changed. The other appetizer we had was the fried goat cheese and Virginia ham. That was also delicious, as it came with Arugula, which I love, honeycomb, and another (fruit?) portion. My son and wife both got the filet. They both ordered medium rare. He loved his, but my wife's was overdone.
The service was so so. Overall I'd rate this an average establishment. The food overall is good, though a bit pricey, the place is convenient, since the parking garage is right next door, the service is average and, while the interior decor is kind of cool, the view out the huge windows on the front is of...Exxon! I'm not saying yes or no on recommending to a friend. I still have some money left on the gift card. I think I'll come back and try it again, then think about recommending to those I know.
We were 4 middle aged women and our waiter took very good care of us. The drinks were great! I ordered 2 appetizers and my friends ordered the filet and the salmon. They enjoyed their entrees. We shared a piece of caramel cheesecake, which was to die for!
Way over priced for the quality of the food and the service
Great food, great service. Everyone left full and happy!
