We were excited to try Coquina, I booked ahead for mid week lunch. However, we were greeted by indifferent staff who let us seat ourselves, get our menus and who we then had to eventually ask to take our order. They wouldn't even make eye contact or conversation. It left us feeling unwelcome and that they were somehow 'above' us. Cutlery was slapped down on the table by a lady with a thousand yard stare - which made my mum and I jump! When the food did eventually come it was delicious, but not cheap and at this price point you would hope for warmer hospitality. Not sure this is what Hastings / the gallery needs.

This is yet another 'small plates' high price establishment, very loosely inspired by Mediterranean cuisine. The food was good, very fresh and tasty, but generally in TINY portions for the price, ie some at £15+! Our real bugbear though was the wine list, the cheapest bottle being well over £30! As a local, I wouldnt dine here as there are so many better value options nearby.

Food and service lovely. Restaurant felt cold and chilly. A group were extremely loud and noisy, to the point it was hard to hear ourselves talk at all.

The food was delicious and brought to our table by one of the chefs. He explained the dish, and gave off a really friendly vibe. The staff were all lovely, and our server, Will (with two Ls) was very attentive. We will definitely be back

Beautiful location and delicious food from this new restaurant in Hastings old town. Portions extremely small for the price, and wine overpriced for wine from a tap however the quality of both, amazing. We did have to get our own water and ask for someone to take our order after sitting waiting for a good 20 mins after being given the menu and ask for plates to be provided after our food had arrived but…. …Great view with Tapas style small plates, I’d recommend ordering more than you think you need if you can afford it. And hopefully service improves as the restaurant settles in.

Lunch time visit, very busy with walk in from the gallery it felt like a cafe rather than restaurant. Maybe an evening meal would have been a better which is what I think their website reflects - which was Eva tv I was looking for. Nice fresh menu reasonable pricing - carafe of wine nice feature
