Just the most fantastic meal. The food was beautifully presented - the detail was superb. Just the right amount of ‘theatre’. It was extremely delicious food from start to finish. A relaxed atmosphere with lovely staff but a really smartly designed restaurant too. Such a treat to be able to see the chefs at work! We couldn’t have chosen a better table! I thought it was superb value for the quality and overall experience. I would give this restaurant the highest rating possible.
Excellent meal, very pleased Clare Smith has at last opened her restaurant. Very nice restaurant from front of house , bar staff (excellent pre lunch cocktail), restaurant staff & stars of the show those behind the glass cooking.
Innovative menu which delivered more than you expected from the description at each course & the pre dessert of the miniature toffee apple knocked Hestons “tangerine “ into touch.

Last time I sampled Clare Smyth's cooking was when she was running Hospital Road. The food was impeccable then and it was impeccable here at her own venture. Having been to this site on numerous occasions when different restaurants occupied the site it was great to see what Clare had done to the room, it was homely yet sleek and very welcoming. The staff were the perfect blend of friendly and professional and the food and wine was outstanding.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back again.
This is the best meal we have had in years. The quality of cooking is outstanding and full of flavour. This restaurant is going places and I suspect that in a year it will have a couple of Michelin stars and you will find it difficult to get a table. During the meal, my wife and I were discussing what excuses we could use to come again- daughters 30th, Sunderland not getting relegated!
Highlights- canapes, the crab royale starter and lemonade parfait.
We will definitely be gong back.
We had a superb experience at Core. The meal was well-paced, from the relaxed pre-dinner drink in the bar (superb bartender, the smoked tomato Bloody Mary was exceptional) to the 'snacks' before the first course, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We must commend the sommelier who was charming, enthusiastic and informative, without being intimidating. The room is elegant and not too noisy, the ambiance is smart casual. If you like smart, classical cooking with a modern twist then highly recommended, though the prices are not for the faint-hearted. However, Clare Smyth is a hugely accomplished chef and it was a pleasure to be able to sample her food in her own restaurant - she was highly visible behind the pass! A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Stunning Lunch with Friends
We all had the tasting menu which is still reasonably affordable. The food was fantastic. Even the lowly potato was elevated to a culinary delight with the tasty Charlotte potato
dulse beurre blanc, herring and trout roe. The Venison was superb and the deserts great to look at and great to eat. We loved the decor and ambience and the service was absolutely spot on, attentive and knowledgeable without being overwhelming. The wine list is large but has some affordable hidden gems, we were well advised by the Sommelier and had some lovely wines. Try it before the stars arrive!
All I can say is that Chef Clare Smyth cooks the best food in London, so you must visit! I am in the top 5% of OpenTable's regular diners and this is the highest marks I have ever given. I love Heston, Marcus Wareing and Jason Atherton, but Clare beats them all when it come to fine dining. Can't wait to go back. Had the tasting menu and not one dish was mediocre. All dishes were outstanding, so it was hard to pick a favourite.
Core definitely rates up there with the one and even two Michelin star restaurants that we've dined at recently. We had the tasting menu. The Scottish Venison was incredible. The service was attentive but not too formal. It was an excellent overall experience.
Ok, I'd like it to be more affordable so I could visit more often but this is cooking at 3* standard and in one of the most gorgeous restaurants you'll find in this country.
I can only think of wonderful things to say about the food and the service and am already planing to make this an annual Christmas treat.

Superb restaurant. The food was fantastic, obviously things like scallops and venison are going to be tasty but the charlotte potato dish and the carrot were delicious. The service was great and the restaurant has great atmosphere and decor. Highly recommended.
Pricey but faultless. The food was delicious and perfect sized portions for the full tasting menu. The Apple Core was amazing, stunningly beautiful and the taste was so intense of apple. The Lamb Carrot was excellent and even surprised by the humble Charlotte Potato. Clare maintains her 3 star standard (the prices are at that level!) I expect she'll get a couple of stars very soon. Great to see her and the team in the open kitchen as well.
