Located at short walk from Nottingham hill gate tube stop. Entrance rather confusing as one sort to apartment block and other to restaurant. Number of people have been standing trying the wrong door. Warm welcome with nice view of the kitchen as you came it. Very cramped setting, tables felt very close together compared to other three Michelin stars and really felt the cramp/ over crowding when the restaurant was full at 7.30pm onwards. Also could overhear conversations - not that we wanted to but due to proximity of tables especially with some louder clientals. Bread was good- standard stuff as well as butter. Amouse bouch was good but started in the wrong order. Chicken skin should be first as least interesting and lobster roll last as best. The crab claw dish with consommé was good- the intensity of the consommé was amazing. The crab claw was average as was the sabayon. Jerusalem artichoke was nice with a rather sweet artichoke Veloute. The turbot was again average - cucumber salad was nice with potato and nice sauce, couldn’t identify the oyster in the dish. Pork Cheeks was below average- fatty pork portion which we both felt was overly fatty - was a bit gamey with an overpowering sauce Mains of venison- sauce was too intense, metallic venison with an ok haggis Palate cleaner of carrots was nicer than the main desert Desert was ok - the honey comb was nice. The ball mimicking the Maltese was average. Service was good but here was so many staff , it should be-They added to feel on overcrowding and didn’t help when the restaurant was full. £700 for a core season menu for two a bottle of champagne was overpriced for the experience. Cloak room had some issues at the end- wrong scarf with jacket and manage to initial lose the correct scarf as fallen on the floor which is a real downer after the meal with staff franticly trying to find items. Should be more organised as there are atleast two staff at the cloak room!

There was nothing specifically bad about the experience, however for the reputation and price I was expecting much more interesting food. To add context to this review, myself and my partner definitely consider fine dining a hobby and will always go somewhere fancy (usually michelin starred) for a special occasion so we're familiar with this style of restaurant, but we're definitely more focused on the food than the presentation and service. The service is really good and everything is beautifully presented. The decoration is also beautiful and all the staff are impeccably presented in uniforms. We had one of each tasting menu and wine pairing. The food was executed well, but for me there was not a single dish that showed any originality. To highlight some examples, the signature potato dish is indeed just a confit potato with roe on it. It's tasty, but I don't feel like I needed a professional chef to make it for me. Same for all of the dishes to be honest. Lamb carrot is just braised lamb on a confit carrot. Core teaser is a malteaser flavour mousse. The portion sizes were about perfect. Complimentary bread is provided throughout the meal and amuse bouches and petit fours are included in addition to the named courses which I really like. The tables are quite close together so the restaurant is fairly loud and it was often hard to hear the wait staff explaining the dishes and wines. The wine pairing was of high quality, but very small servings. We went to the bar beforehand for a cocktail each and the cocktails were just spectacular! I can't recommend the Whiskey and Seaweed bar highly enough! I don't regret my visit as it was definitely a good experience and I appreciate that it is in high demand so obviously demand will raise the price. It definitely felt like style over substance though and I'm very surprised by how highly it is rated.

An amazing lunch. Fourth time visiting and won't be the last. The food was incredible, the service is five star treatment and everybody is so friendly. Delicious cocktails and wine and really loved the new bar and the Irish Coffee at the end - great theatrics! I mean, it is expensive, but so worth it!

Excellent service and food ruined by being asked to move We were very much looking forward to our lunch at Core having stayed up several nights to book a table due their difficult booking procedure. (They release tables around 6 weeks before booking dates and they seem to go in seconds). Once we had secured our table we very much look forward to the day and we weren’t disappointed. A huge array of staff welcomed us to the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble and the food and service was impeccable. I loved the fact that a lot of thought had gone into the UK provenance of the dishes. The clams from Scotland, the potted shrimp from Morecambe, etc. The creativity of the dishes was exemplary. We went for the tasting menu combined with the wine tasting and looked forward to a leisurely afternoon of culinary excellence which was forthcoming. Unfortunately the lunch came to an abrupt end after 2.5 hours when we were asked to move to the bar before even finishing out tasting menu. We ate our dessert in the bar. No-one else was asked to do this. In fact the table next to us left 45 minutes later. And the table who arrived first left after another hour. While the impeccable service, food and drink continued at the bar, the whole ambience had changed. And the lunch ended very differently to how it began. If we’d ordered a la carte it would have made more sense for us to be moved on. But the fact that we were moved was inexcusable and completely changed our perception of the day. We don’t begrudge spending £1000 on lunch. We’ve done it several times before but have enjoyed a leisurely lunch without being moved. I implore Core not to take customers for granted, to allocate at least three hours for tables with tasting menus. Please look at your competitors and make it special for your customers. Recommended. But order a la carte unless you don’t mind being moved.

Brilliant as always! We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our anniversary. We tried the seasons menu and all dishes were amazing. We specially enjoyed the sweetbread, venison, artichoke, truffle linguini and the other carrot. Great wine pairing too! Service and ambience were perfect. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

This was a delight from start to finish. We were welcomed on arrival by all the staff and waved off by chef and her team. In between we had a menu that could have been designed for us from the delicious crab to the chocolate dessert. Highlight for me was the crispy sweetbreads.

One of the best dining experiences I've had for a long time. I have never seen such a diverse team in this sort of setting, at least half the chefs were women and a good proportion of the team are people of colour, incredibly refreshing and a hopeful trend in the future of hospitality. The food was, as you would expect, creative, beautifully executed, indulgent and luxurious, even the courses that made the most out of what would normally be kitchen waste. Had a lovely exchange with a waitress about pot noodles, (not on the menu) she managed to democratise them in a Michelin starred setting! This is a place for memorable occasions in a relaxed, unstuffy environment although you may well have to auction off your first born to afford it.

Fantastic food alongside fantastic service. My friends and I celebrated my birthday here and all the team went out of their way to make sure every minute was special. Stand out dish was the core teaser. Possibly the best desert I have ever eaten. This restaurant is a step above the rest in my opinion. Thank you

Being a little picky: The waiter’s each course spiel was often drowned out by the chatter from other diners. The refurbished dinning hall at Cambridge Uni addressed this problem with clever design that triages out unwanted noise. Food for thought!

Well, what to say? The food was exemplary. Every mouthful a delight, every plate a visual treat. It is, of course, what you expect to get from a 3* Michelin restaurant but, when you do get it, it is worth every penny. The wine pairings were spot on and the sommelier was super helpful to my wife, who had two individual glasses of wine during the whole meal. The room was very comfortable, the tables well-spaced and the conversation was always a 'buzz' but never a 'noise'. What was amazing (and I really don't like using 'amazing' too often) was the responsiveness, openness and friendliness of all the staff. We were blown away by this because it was at a level we don't often experience, even in high quality restaurants. From beginning to end the staff - and we mean absolutely all of the staff from our pre-meal call, to our first greeting, to everyone who came to our table and to everyone in the kitchen - were just astonishingly good. They simply set the standard for what excellent service can look like. Thanks to everyone. We loved it. It was my wife's fourth visit and my first. Now I know what she was raving about on all of her other visits.

We were rushed by the restaurant. We had an 8:30 reservation. We chose the tasting menu and wine pairing. The staff rushed us. We weren’t offered some of the traditional after dinner things that they do as well as them taking our wine glasses before they were empty, etc. The restaurant should consider only offering Ala carte from 8:30 or they need to set expectations with the staff that those nights will go late. Rushing customers is not acceptable at this price point. (We mentioned the wine thing while we were they and asked them to offer us the wines Irish coffee service and they did, but it was disappointing to have this kind of experience at a three star.)

This was a special birthday trip to the restaurant. The welcome was fantastic with Clare and the team all turning around in the kitchen to greet us as we entered the restaurant. There was 4 in our party and we all felt rushed at the start of the evening. For us it was too noisy but perhaps this is because the restaurant is in the middle of London and we are more used to dining in restaurants in less busy locations. Each course looked wonderful but as it is 3 stars perhaps our expectations were too high. None of us felt there was the wow factor we were anticipating. The fish course was not as hot as we would have expected. There was a mistake in the coffee order which was rectified and removed from the bill. My wife, whose birthday it was, could not get a port which suited her tastes as there was only two choices on the menu which was a bit of a surprise. A specific drink was created for my wife due to the lack of options on the port which was very kind however it had too much absinthe in it. Our favourite dishes were the canapes and the Core Apple which looked great. Overall, we were left a little disappointed despite the efforts of the team at Core who made us feel very welcomed.

Liked the fact that the chefs come around to explain the dishes they make, say hello and goodbye on arrival and departure. It's the attention to detail and little touches like this that made the experience wonderful. .

Excellent high end dinner, fabulous food, service and a warm welcome from the team. Great suggestions along the way like the wine etc. Will return when my lottery numbers comes up😀

We have been waiting for a while to go to Core . However a little disappointing. Two dishes were rather salty and nothing really popped in the mouth . Rather odd serving on the tasting menu a chocolate desert and then to finish chocolate tarts were given ? Bit of an overload . Drinks and staff great . Over 700£ for lunch for 2 very heavy considering no Clare on site .

Amazing experience. Loved every moment. We had the Classic Tasting Menu and could not fault it at all. The flavours were on point. I took my wife for her birthday lunch and she doesn’t eat much at all but she finished every dish. Highly recommend CORE!!!
