   This is the 3rd time that I have had high tea at Core, what a disappointment! Booked for 12 noon arrived 5 minutes early and told that our group of 5 could sit at the triangle and wait, a female staff member came over at 12.10 and said "you are next, what name" after given the name she said "follow me", at out table she left, came back and poured sparkling, left brought our tiers after around 15 minutes. She did not speak or address us at any time, she came back with very small scones and asked "coffee or tea" 2 coffee and 2 tea, one of our party had gone to the bar and brought a soft drink which a different staff member who did speak was happy to bring to the table. The 2 coffee were cold, the tea was in round tea leaf holders, the staff member put the first one in and poured the boiling water, it broke open with tea leaves floating around the cup, she poured the boiling water into the second cup and walked off with the water pot (I was sure at the 2 previous occasions that the water was left so you could add more water), we were never offered sugar, milk was supplied. At 1.25pm she started clearing the table around us until it became uncomfortable being leaned over and we left. What a total shame, last time they asked if it was an occasion and wished them happy birthday. I felt like we were not welcome and not wanted. The food was tasty, not huge but good quality it was let down by what I could only describe as a hostile staff member. We were in good spirits on arrival to have a very happy high tea and as I had recommended this on my previous occasions I was totally disappointed and left totally deflated by the experience. I could not and will not recommend this experience to anyone in future.

   It was ok. We all commented that there was a flavour element missing or off the mark in each dish, but overall it was ‘nice’. Service was great. We were not allowed to split the bill despite being able to on a previous occasion. We were mistakenly charged for an item that was then sorted out over the phone.

   Presentation fine, we had to ask for cutlery as not on the table, we had to ask for a hot drink to go with the high tea. Waiter kept touching his nose, and appeared to have a cold.

   Everything was below average. The staff wasn’t good trained or never trained at all. Food was like the sauce from a thin crushed tomatoes, just a pasta how can that go that tasteless. Even the cocktails wasn’t right. Disappointing experience.

    We were seated and served by Jade, he was absolutely wonderful, charming, happy and knowledgeable. We were treated like royalty. Jade is an asset. We will definitely be back. Kellie & Rob.

    Terrible food and service. Was that bad that the manager waived our whole bill. Very disappointing. The only good thing was the manager Jasmine, she was very apologetic and professional.

    Poor allocation of table (setting us down on two round tables for a table of 5), moving us to a noisy table next to the kitchen. Requested to move outside which was absolutely fine, only to be told that food comes all at once, so we had to estimate our own timing, and order entree, main and dessert in three orders. Too much of a hassle.

    Food was not very exciting. (Apart from the soft shell crab) Vicky gave wonderful service but another waitress was very offhand. Putting dishes on the table and telling guests to sort out who they were for, delivering drinks and picking up things by reaching across the table in front of guests. There was plenty of room for her to go around. Apart from Vicky's expertise we could have been in a local pub or cafe.

    The service was ok , but the food was very very average, it was a buffe style and a lot of the items where of poor quality I would not bother going there again. There is far better options in Hobart.

    A very large venue which needed fresh flowers in the dining area section used. Hostess pleasant, food fresh and enjoyable but only two tea varieties available in one teapot to share. Overpriced. I don't think I'd book it again rather than another venue but not terrible. Three out of five stars.

    Food was great once we got it, our order didn’t get put into the kitchen until almost an hour after we actually ordered which was disappointing when on a limited time lunch break. Had booked but on arrival table was not ready or wiped down from the previous diners. Restaurant was not that busy.

    A last minute booking for a first trip to Hobart. Everything about cove is well presented and would indicate a pleasant dining experience. After some items were unavailable on their menu (which was not told to us on arrival), we waited nearly 2 hours for main meals despite arriving early. Service gradually became avoidant as we questioned the whereabouts of our meal. The meals were also served at different times when they did appear so our parties are their meals separately. We received a price reduction after asking, but it was not offered. Overall very underwhelming service and average food considering our experience. Sadly won't be returning!

    I enjoyed the experience. The venue is light, spacious, elegant and modern. The food is on par with other venues offering high tea. A bit strange was that tea/coffee was offered/served well after the food had been served. It was also not clear whether there would have been choices of tea blends on offer. It was nice that barista style coffees could be ordered if tea wasn’t your hot drink of choice. Once food and drinks had been served, guests were left alone, which is good in one respect; however, made it somewhat difficult to get the attention of wait staff to order another cup of tea, coffee or get your water glass refilled. Nonetheless, I will go back and will also recommend the high tea to my friends.

    1. After booking on line, we arrived on time into a large 'corporate' environment and made are way to a bar area where we were met and shown to a canteen style seating area. 2. I mention booking online because we were specifically asked about dietary requirements and the occasion we were celebrating. This was the last time it was ever referred to! Thus your data collection practice is neither ethical or moral and as such should be reported... 3. Once seated we were promptly greeted by our waitress (trainee). My husband request an alcohol free beer, the waitress said she was unsure and rather than ask her colleagues for assistance, promptly directed him to the strongest beer you serve. It took me to read through your menu and guide the waitress to what she should have recommended. 4. Entree was served, it was delicious. Again my husband was 3/4 way through eating his entree when another waitress came to the table and enquired if we were ready for our main course! No the atmosphere was not comfortable or relaxing. 5. The main course was served, again delicious with no hitches 6. Dessert my husband again the target - apparently no cutlery is provided to eat one's desert with. In summary the food was full of flavour and throughly enjoyable. The ambiance was basic and the service was at the level of undergraduate.     Having a High Tea yet didn't get asked what tea we wanted until it was nearly over. Sandwiches came out crusty dried out bread as if sitting out uncovered for too long. Hot savouries only just luke warm. No sugar on table and had to ask twice and only got 2 sachets of takeaway sugar. No dessert spoon or fork on the table for sweets. Can not eat pannacotta with a fork, had to use teaspoon used for stiring tea. Expected much more from the Crowne.

    Lovely food, beautifully presented and just the right amount. China cups and saucers were beautiful. Friendly and attentive staff. The following feedback is provided in good faith to improve the experience for others ... The tables, which are obviously used for when the area converts to a bar setting at night, were small and therefore became very crammed making it awkward to relax and eat, at times. The scones had to be placed on a wooden stool next to the table which meant only one of us could reach them. I also had to sit across the leg of the table making it uncomfortable. Regarding the ambiance for a High Tea, all other ones that I have enjoyed in other establishments have had white table cloths to create that traditional feel of a High Tea. Also, instead of a pot of tea - which would not fit on the table but which is part of the ambiance of other High Teas that I have enjoyed - a tea infuser was used. This meant that one cup only was enjoyed. Again, this is not the case in other establishments where tea pots are used, hot water provided, and multiple cups are enjoyed within the cost. Perhaps an investment of a set of collapsible tables that can be quickly set up and table cloths used would create the traditional and special atmosphere expected plus would allow for space on the table for the comfort of your patrons. Although, I had a lovely time with my friends, I would not rush back but would return to other places for my High Tea experience. Regards Carolyn

    Beautiful location, comfortable setting. Service was faultless. The food was just slightly disappointing, mainly because I had booked with a dietary requirement that wasn't met. Overall I would still recommend this venue to others.

    I dined with my two colleagues. We were greeted immediately on arrival and handed over to our waiter. We all made alterations to our meal that were easily managed without fuss. Food was well presented and excellent taste. Waiters were friendly and in some cases funny that made the evening more memorable.
