They took us on time for our reservations. After that it all fell apart. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for our food. When the food finally came, it was cold, not even warm. Obviously it sat in the kitchen. Not under warming lights. The cheese on my veal was hard. Five expensive dinners, all were ice cold. We were all too hungry to send it all back. The taste was great but it would have been better hot or at least warm. Will never go back!!!
The food was fantastic, the chicken parmiangia and chicken fracaise were delicoitus. The service was terrible as we had to wait over an hour for the above meals and were never given a reason for delay. We will not be going back due to this.
My husband's veal was delicious but my shrimp scampi was ok. It did not have any garlic at all and the shrimp was slightly overdone. It was a nice place but a little background music would be nice in the dining room.
I will qualify this review by first stating that it was Restaurant Week. We had a reservation for 7:45pm and yet still had to wait more than 20 minutes for our table. The service was very slow, it was after 9:30pm when we left and we did not even have dessert. The food was ok but I felt that it was a bit overpriced and my scallops were underdone and did not have that nice brown sear on the top that I expected. The food was not hot either. I liked that they offer gluten free pasta options but not enough that I would likely be returning anytime soon.
Restaurant week was great!
I’ll preface by writing I worked in the restaurant business as a server for many years, so I get it...
Felt very unwelcome. We had a 6:00 reservation. Had a drink at the bar at 5:40. Bartender asked if we wanted another drink (it was around 6:15). I said we had a 6:00 reservation, didn’t want to hold anyone up. She replied “As long as you’re out by 9”.
My plate was literally cleared while I still had food on it. Felt VERY rushed. Very little timing between appetizers and main meal. Was kind of embarrassing as I brought someone from out of town here. So many restaurants from which to chose, and this just sent the wrong vibe.
We weren’t campers. Was in my car by 9:02.
Doubtful I’ll be back.
Food was great and our server was very personable. Both are important for an enjoyable dining experience. Our first time eating here and we will definitely come back. Highly recommend
Our party of 6 all felt the food and drink were excellent, the service was pleasant and very efficient. We come often and will come again.
Food and service were fantastic. Only issue we had was our table was the first table from the bar into the eating area that is within the bar area. Very busy and noisy by our table. Could not move as no other tables available due to full house.
You MUST have a reservation for a Saturday night! Thanks Open Table ;-) First time there & I lived in Schenectady most of my life! Worth the trip!
highly recommend Cornells. The wait staff were very good. Friendly. Food was excellent
Food was great. NY strip was flavorful and amazing.
The food was very good. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was delicious.
Beautiful decor and elegant atmosphere but prices are not extreme. Great service
The food at Cornell's is great truly great with decent prices. The cold antipasto was so delicious and well plated!
We made a reservation for 8:30 in Valentine’s Day, which you never know how that will go, when we arrived the older hostess seemed to have had a rough evening as I walked up and she uttered something under her breathe loudly about being miserable, I won’t repeat in writing, I was told to wait until my Husband came in to be seated, as she took another couple that came in after me to be seated.
Once we where seated it took a little bit to get menus and drinks as expected for Valentine’s day, As the waitress came over and greeted us and took our drink and dinner order, food came out quickly and was fabulous... I had the chicken piccata and my husband had a veal dish and we where both pleasantly surprised. Everything with delicious...
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, the hostess was not friendly and even after trying to joke with her she was having none of it...
Other than that we will be back.
Standard Italian classics in a quiet setting with good service. We enjoyed the meal.
Great charm, amazing service, and delicious food! great Valentines Day dinner for sure!
An excellent and reliable restaurant. The Utica Greens are especially wonderful!
Delicious food, with enough to share.
Excellent food. We have tried twice yo get in and couldn't. Well worth the persistence. We had a full meal. Everything was fantastic!
Cornell's was excellent as usual. We had a 6:00 reservation for dinner and arrived a little early, but were seated. The restaurant was not very full when we arrived, but filled up shortly after. Even when full, the restaurant was not very noisy - it was a comfortable level, allowing for pleasant conversation. We ordered beverages and appetizers while waiting for our third person in the party and the beverages were served promptly. The appetizers came out just a few moments later and were delicious. My wife ordered the calamari to start, followed by eggplant parm and I went with the three-course dinner, starting with a cheese-stuffed loaf of Perreca's bread with Cornell's red sauce on top, followed by a plate of chicken in a white wine sauce over pasta, ending with the chocolate cake. The whole experience was excellent - from the service to the food to the atmosphere. We highly recommend Cornells.
Thoroughly enjoyed my cod caponata as did my husband. Low calorie foods are available and servings are moderately sized. Our friends had veal dishes and enjoyed theirs also. Only one person got dessert--tiramisu--and found it be so light and refreshing!
Nice dinner after a Sunday after classical concert at Union College.
The food and service were both very good. My veal dish was a little small, but quite tasty. My wife's scallops were excellent. Our server was efficient, but not overly friendly. Even though I had made a reservation a week in advance, and had asked for a quiet table, we were given a table next to the bar. Patrons at the bar sat right above us and looked down on our table. It was too loud for me. I asked for a different table, but was told there were no other tables available.
There was a variety of food. Therewas something for everybody and concessions were graciously made for dietary needs. It was sooo pleasant that the room was quiet even when full of people. That is not easily found in so many restaurants.
Great experience. Terrific food and service!
I am from out of town, but was looking for someplace "special" to take my youngest son turning 30. Special it was!! The SERVICE was exceptional. She was personable, friendly, helpful and efficient. very food item was hot and delicious; flavors and textures married to create sumptuous dishes. The place had an old fashioned elegance. On a cold rainy evening, it warm and inviting and conversation was delightfully possible due to lower ceilings and smaller sections. I didn't see one dish come from the kitchen that looked anything less than spectacular. Cannot wait to return!
Kaiden is a delightful server. She’s served us before.
Generally, we’re wowed by the food at Cornell’s, but I confess I was little underwhelmed by the bolognese. Very light on the meat. My wife’s Marsala was amazing. Regardless, we still think it the best Italian choice in Schenectady and will be back!
Absolutely delicious food, efficient and friendly service, crowded because it was New Year's Eve, but a very positive experience!
Great food and exemplary service. Expectations are always exceeded at Cornell's. Lucky to have it.
Cornells is amazing! Love the front room. Food & waiter were excellent!
Anniversary- Great location
Great dinner with friends! Great ambiance, excellent wine and food!
Overall food good. Service very slow. We had reservations at 7 and they were out of several things.
Food and service show that owner and staff want customers to be more than just satisfied.
Always amazing food!!
food was fantastic, atmosphere was very cozy.
a great night out.
Met with very dear friends !
Had a perfect night ...
Special Kudos to Jamie at the front door... she welcomed us just like we were coming home! She is fabulous ...
We are off to Florida for the winter... will be back to see you in May!
Our party of four arrived at Cornell's for an early (5:15 pm) dinner before catching the "Melodies of Christmas" show at Proctor's . We've done this for six years now, and it's become a delightful holiday tradition. The food is hot when it should be hot, cold when it should be cold, nicely seasoned and very tasty. And VERY plentiful!
None of us are more than occasional alcohol drinkers, but we did order a bottle of wine - a delicious Dr. Loosen Reisling. The wine list is fairly small but well chosen.
The waitstaff is attentive without fawning, and unfailingly polite and cheerful. The bathrooms are spotless and the holiday decorations are lovely.
We had a wonderful dinner! Kelly our server was very attentive and gracious. The three course dinner is an amazing value.
