The best fish I’ve ever eaten
We loved everything about Cornerstone. We had the tasting menu options and each dish was delicious. Now we want to go back and try the other half of the menu!

Incredible food...would happily eat here again. Shame service wasn’t of the same standard but it was just before Xmas break so their minds were elsewhere.

The food was outstanding, the service was impeccable: friendly and attentive without ever being over bearing. Very knowledgeable and helpful on making menu choices. The tasting menu is superb, variety of dishes with amazing combinations of flavours and combinations and incredible value for money too. Would recommend unhesitatingly.

Wonderful, wonderful food - really excellent fish and seafood. Very friendly service too. Only quibble: v expensive wine list - cheapest bottles (and nothing special) £35+
i loved it! the food, service & ambiance were top notch. i couldn't have had a better experience quite honestly & can't wait to go back, to try all the things i wasn't able to try on my first visit. for what you get, it was quite affordable & reasonably priced. perfect for sharing, or for the solo diner hoping to try multiple items.
Great seafood restaurant with amazing food, but didn’t quite feel it justified the price. The dishes were exceptionally prepared and while appearing relatively simple, had obviously been carefully constructed. However, one has to order quite a number of plates and even then it becomes a struggle to create a cohesive meal from the disparate options.
The meal started amazingly with the pickled oysters, which were so good we ordered a second round, followed by the mackerel with the treacle bread which was exceptional. The meal tailed off slightly thereafter, with the skate wing, while tasty it felt a bit overpriced and one dimensional. Desserts were nothing more than an afterthought and I would not recommend investing in. It was only because I was still a bit hungry after ordering most of the main menu that I considered one. For the price of the pavlova I thought it should be incredible. It was not.
Good, but not great (notwithstanding two of the best dishes I’d had in a while)... yet.
This is an restaurant we have wanted to go to since seeing Tom on Great British Menu, so I thought going for my husbands birthday was the perfect opportunity. We completely understand that the look and feel has been done on a budget, but our table by the door made us freezing every time the door was opened (and often not closed).
We went for the tasting menu, but did not realise that meant that we just share one portion between us. We had the famous potted shrimp crumpet but it was cold and when this and the carrots were the only hot dishes on the menu this was disappointing.
The wine list was over priced and not that great quality wines.
The oysters were 5 star but the rest cold and lack lustre
We needed a coffee to warm us up post the meal, but they don’t serve coffee or tea (?!)
Such a shame, we were really looking forward to it, and friends who had been said it was the best food they had that year, I think that on a cold lunchtime we were just unlucky

This was the best food we have ever eaten. Both my husband and I said that it tasted like heaven in our mouths. Absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff were really friendly and informative about the menu. It was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I highly recommend eating at this divine restaurant.
Really exceptional and well crafted fish, however it was ALL fish. Even the one dish that wasn't fish (carrots) was served with something akin to taramasalata. I would have enjoyed some vegetables or salad to lighten it up a bit but thoroughly enjoyed the meal- the hake, treacle bread and the pear tart were stand outs for me. I feel it is also too expensive for me to come back regularly in comparison to other stand out east london restaurants.
The food was absolutely delicious - the mackerel pate and the cured gurnard were particularly good. And the carrots with smoked cod's roe and chestnuts were a revelation in its simplicity (and I don't even really like carrots that much!) The sourdough was also great; brushed with oil and toasted. The only thing I wasn't 100% happy with was the eccles cake for dessert: the piece of cheese was really quite large in relation to the cake, and for me there was too much pastry compared to filling - but that really is a personal preference and the flavours were amazing. The quince puree was beautiful (both in colour and flavour) and the sea salt on top of the eccles cake was brilliant. In terms of service, everyone was friendly and accommodating - the only thing I would mention here was that one lady (who appeared to be the manager?) was constantly chewing gum - something that really puts me off - and also appeared to tell another member of staff off in front of us as we sat at the bar. But overall - we'd recommend it to anyone and we will be back.
Amazing fish plates and great atmosphere. However We found the dessert very pricy and disappointing, not in line with the rest of the menu.
Really delicious food, great service, nice venue and atmosphere. We had lunch and it was a good relaxed feel. The kitchen is in the centre of the restaurant too so it’s good to see the chefs working. Definitely recommended
Be wanting to come here since it opened. Completely faultless. Fish cooking at its very highest. And thank you to Tom for signing a menu for my girlfriend.
