Forgot to let the restaurant know my partner was vegetarian. Staff were super accommodating (Aussie waiter whose name we didn’t catch unfortunately was fantastic!) and chef Tom Brown made us three absolutely brilliant veggie plates to go along with what I ordered. Honestly could not say enough great things about our evening! Can’t wait to go back.

The food did not disappoint it was fantastic! especially the crab crumpet, plaice in roast chicken butter sauce and the mackerel pate with the treacle bread. We had the tasting menu and the portions were more than enough we were all happily full at the end of the meal. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Great food and great service for our lunch. Will for sure go back and have dinner.
Do not understand any of the negative comments except that bathroom facilities would be inadequate during a “full cover” scenario.

Having seen Tom Brown on GBM on a number of occasions we were very keen to try his new restaurant.
Well we were not disappointed - great vibe and feel to the place, interesting wine list and most importantly incredible food. Uncomplicated looking but unbelievably tasty food - the cured brill with tomatoes and sauce vierge and the plaice in chicken butter sauce were just outstanding and our personal favourites but it was all amazing.
We can't wait to go back !

Considering the meal for two cost nearly £200, i founding everything lacking. I needed a wow factor, I couldn’t say there was one dish where I didn’t want it to end and several I didn’t want to finish. The best thing about the evening was our very friendly and knowledgeable waitress. There is only one gents and ladies bathroom for the whole restaurant which leaves you waiting conspicuously outside when busy. It felt very much like a canteen and I wish all the staff could’ve looked happier

Excellent food & very friendly service. There's a minimal amount of carbs on the menu, meaning you get through quite a few dishes of incredibly delicate and refined fish dishes and the costs stack up. That said, it's well worth it. Highlights for me when I visited were the monkfish tartare and crab crumpet. Short wine menu, but what I had was very good.

I was SO excited to come to cornerstone, having booked months in advance, so perhaps the meal was bound to not live up to expectations. Whilst it was a memorable meal in a lovely setting with attentive service it wasn’t out of this world like I was expecting. If you are looking for a innovative meal centred on fish look go further - the puddings were AMAZING

Very good food and service overall. Actually quite expensive and most dishes are quite small. They’re designed for sharing, but only have at most, 2 spoons each as they don’t contain vegetables or potatoes, so you ending up feeling hungry.
We had a mackerel pate which for me was the best dish, along with a grey mullet tartare. The scallop dish was like 1 1/2 scallops for £19.
I found the chocolate dessert a bit underwhelming and lacking texture. It was described as a torte, but was more like a mousse.
Wine was good (we had a picpoul de pinet, but nothing under £30/bottle.
Overall I enjoyed the meal, but wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back. There are many places out there, which are as good and cheaper.

Always heavily booked and off the beaten track (though conveniently close to Hackney Wick Station) this is a restaurant well worth seeking out. The fish based menu of sharing plates are arranged from light to rich and there is a succinct wine list many available by the carafe. We left the choice to the restaurant and had the tasting menu. Not cheap but for such inventive, delicious and beautifully presented cuisine it is an absolute steal. The atmosphere was engagingly buzzing and hip with the noise level fine for conversation.

What a phenomenal meal we had. We opted to sit at the counter and watch the action. The food was sublime. We had the 'tasting menu - a selection of the various plates which gave a fabulous overview and saved us having to make the difficult decision on which ones we wanted! The format is a selection of small plates rather than a la carte and the menu changed according to what they have on the day. Not one dish disappointed. And we would love to return and try more! Well done to the whole team at Cornerstone!

I really unique restaurant. A lovely open plan with the chefs busy in the middle of the room, and a trendy but relaxed industrial look. The food was pretty much perfect. A grey mullet tartare with soy cured egg yolk was a particular highlight. We had the tasting menu and it was plentiful and felt good value. The desserts were also outstanding, though hard to fit in at that point. There were some good wines to choose around the £40 mark. Will definitely be going back.

My experience has been quite weird at Cornerstone. The food is amazing, faultless. But that's about it.
We went during lunch and the waitress + waiter were both either rude/defensive/inexperienced and I don't blame them.. rather i blame the manager who clearly hasn't trained their staff well. The waitress was nice at first but as we asked her about the lunch menu, she mentioned there's a tasting menu and the dishes are marked with an asterisk; then I asked her how's that different to me ordering these dishes a la carte, to which she immediately said "if you're asking for a discount we don't do it." I was like, chill, you call something a tasting menu but you can't explain why those are in this menu? I even guided her and said "No I'm not asking for a discount, I was curious as to why these particular dishes have Asterisks - is this a curated list or made with in season ingredients?" but she still doesn't really get it for like 2 mins. I found it very patronising to suggest "if you're asking for a discount..."!!
Then another male waiter came, and we asked for his suggestion for the wine list, clearly inexperienced, he didn't ask for help from his colleagues and just pointed something on the menu whilst shrugging his shoulders and seemed really inattentive.

Not much ambience in the restaurant as the chefs were focussed in their prepping and cooking. Decor was quite boring. All in all 9/10 for food but overall experience is 7/10.

The area is a strange choice. We didnt feel particularly safe walking to the restaurant through the housing estates next to it.
We didn't feel it was value for money, because of the 'sharing' style and the fact that there were no sides with carbs or vegetables. It was only fish and with no carrier for any of the left over sauce after eating the fish, which is a waste. The scallops were tasty but very expensive - £18 for 2.
Waiters were quite rude when we commented that there didn't seem to be crispy potatoes with the fish - this was only a potato crumb ontop of the fish which seems outrageous.
We didnt order pudding as we felt very underwhelmed by the meal and not full up which is a shame because the fish lovely and cooked perfectly. We felt we could have got better value for money elsewhere.
