Coro the Chocolate Cafe - Frederick Street
Food was delicious however customer service was really slow and were waiting roughly half an hour on the bill
Staff did not wear masks, tables were a bit too close to each other, service not great and ambience missing. Lots of boxes of napkins etc behind tables. Food was good but overall experience a bit disappointing.
Only found this place while we were in Edinburgh for a couple of days because of the government eat out to help out scheme. What a treat it was. Absolutely delicious waffles, lovely service by Deanne (I think that was her name- sorry if I got that wrong) Big portions too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Edinburgh. Thankyou
Food was fine service very slow milkshakes were warm toilets not very clean and place was freezing .Apart from that everything was fine
The cafe was not clean! Considering the COVID19 situation, this was very worrying. We had to ask for clean classes as they had chocolate marks all over. Our server wiped our table in front of us and it was with an old, dirty cloth. The toilets were disgusting too.
The service wasn’t great either.
I was not impressed by covid precautions. We initially were 2 metres from other tables until a family arrived and staff put up another table in between to accommodate we ended up sitting very close. Under 1 metre. Decided to leave ASAP.
We waited quite a while for the order to be taken around 20/30 mins, in fact we had to beckon the waitress over to take it. Had to ask for the cutlery also but because the food was so nice we dismissed the short cummings and I would recommend and return.
Αmazing staff, so friendly and helpful 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Staff where lovely but at first missed one of the desserts from the order then I found a hair in my pancakes when I received them which I was annoyed about but was delt with well.
Lovely place and the food amazing. My only gripe was the wait to be asked for drinks and food. But once ordered was speedy
We first ordered from user eats to our hotel room and it was lovely and fresh. Then the next night we went into the shops its self and it was even better , would recommend anyone visiting the area to go in
The onwer doesn't pay his staff. Revolting. Don't eat here!
Lovely food. Good service. Very reasonable prices. Appropriate measures in place for health and safety at this time. We always come when in Edinburgh.
No complaints really, although the kids were unhappy there were no milkshakes! Food and service was very good. Only thing that lets it down it the restaurant itself, decor looks old and dated. That’s just a personal opinion though.
Service was good, food was tasty and the social distancing measures seemed to be in place. Felt pressured to leave the staff were over attentive to the point we felt they were desperate for us to leave.
Excellent pancake fruit very fresh.will be going back soon
For chocolate heaven come here! Can’t recommend highly enough!
Lovely food, great service. I'd recommend the crepe...was lovely!
It was my friends first time at coros and they were very impressed. The service was amazing and I we will definitely be coming again.
Good atmosphere, tasty food as always, and a lovely hostess!
Overall a really good meal and was very enjoyable. Staff were very nice and polite the wait for food was also very short l. Only negative about the experience was that it was very cold
Very attentive, and humorous. Fast service. Will be back when this is over!
Delicious gluten free bubble waffle. There was a queue to get in however we had a table booked but still had to queue to be seen to. Service was a bit slow. Didnt get bill brought to table. Staff didnt know if ‘grain free’ meant ‘gluten free’ when i asked. I asked and she said ‘im not the best person to ask’ so i had to ask her to ask someone else. However when i got it, it was absolutely delicious and i would recommend it
Great food and lovely service! Very busy, booking is a must.
It was okay crepe was hard and barely any strawberries
I did write this in an email to you already but it was clear you didn't read it. I booked a table for 9 people (3 adults and 6 children). Unfortunately we arrived maybe 7 minutes late for the booking. I tried to get in to the café but there was too many people queuing up. Eventually I did manage to catch someone's eye and explain that we had a booking. That staff member then shouted across to someone else who shouted back across the café 'they are late, I have given their table away'. Other staff member shrugged her shoulders at me. At no point did anyone come over to talk to me and no one tried to phone me either. I ended up on the steps outside with two children crying. Very very disappointed with the way I was treated.
The food in the Coro is just delicious, the entire staff is very kind. However it was a little bit noisy, but it is the customers' fault.
Although the place is a little bit crowded and noisy, si highly recommend this place. The food is super tasty (specially desserts/chocolate). Staff are very friendly. We will book again, thank you
Great service, great food. Will definitely going be back soon
Always a good experience . Friendly staff delicious food . Only thing that lets it down is noise level and poor toilets . I never remember to ask for my coffee at same time as food as coffee is always cold by time the food comes or when eating . Always make a reservation as it’s always busy
Great food lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Only problem was it was freezing due to the door being wide open due to people queuing.
Please be more mindful of your diners eating in the cold.
Food was decadent, service was relatively quick and the server herself was lovely.
If you like chocolate & waffles this is the place to go!
I ordered a savory crepe, which was delicious. The waffles were just as yummy. Service & staff were friendly and attentive.
Would deffo visit again, not a big fan of same sex toilets but that's just me!
Would advise to book a table. Customers that were queuing had the door open which caused a constant cold draught on one of the coldest days.
Excellent service and delicious food. I will be back.
As always great service, fast service with fresh food, nice atmosphere, relaxing place for a great breakfast
Loved my visit to Coro. We booked in advance but they said they didn’t have a booking against our name. Had to wait 10 mins for a table but that was understandable as it was full. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was delicious! Will definitely be back!!
Whilst Coro is most certainly a sweets shop, there are options for savoury lovers. We arrived on a particularly busy day, there was a party of 17, but the service was still quick and polite. I've never come away from Coro feeling unsatisfied.
First visit my daughter always wanted to come to your place wasn’t disappointed food was fantastic had a great time very hard choice to make from the menu, already know what we are going to order next time .... great service
The food was good. I got a milkshake and one of the savory options (bacon egg and waffles) and both were delicious. My friend is gluten-free and vegetarian and there were plenty of options for her. We were both really happy with our food, but the service was extremely slow! The servers were nice enough, however, a table that was sat an hour after us received their bills before us (which meant we waited for over an hour for our bill).
We enjoyed our experience. The food and service were good. We had booked and would certainly recommend to book as some people had a long wait. Our only criticism is the place was quite cold, mainly due to people queuing and keeping the door open.
