Coro the Chocolate Cafe - Frederick Street
Luckily we had a table booked which was just as well as it was really busy. However having a table booked didn't stop my friend who arrived first, from standing waiting with several staff members walking past without a single one asking if some one was tending to her. She waited for a good few minutes before she managed to grab someone. Once we all arrived and were given menus we waited a good 10/15 minutes before anyone came to take our order, in fact we had to ask them to come over. The food arrived fairly quickly, well 2 out of 4 meals, which actually arrived before out drinks. We then waited another 5 minutes until the drinks then finally the other 2 meals arrived. The poor service is a real shame because the food was actually really nice. I would probably recommend this place to friends as the food is good but will make it clear not to expect great service.
I was hesitant about going at first as there were many reviews about the food being good but that the staff were rude. I took the family for a birthday treat and the service was lovely. They were rushed off their feet as it was a very busy sat afternoon but they were still polite and lovely with the kids. Bathroom wasn’t great but that was down to another client putting toilet paper in the sink!
The food is nice, service terrible. I've been there twice so far and it was awful both times. First we were asked to move to a different table five minutes after we had been seated, then orders from tables that had come after us were taken before us and finally we were presented the bill without having asked for it. Not impressed.
First time there it was truly amazing my daughter and mother loved it. The food was really fresh my mother had the pancakes with fruit and maple syrup and the pancakes were lovely and hot when brought to the table. The staff were very pleasant and well mannered always making sure that you were happy. Will definitely be returning very soon
Excellent food, friendly atmosphere and superb service. 😄
Lovely for coffee and cake.
Highly recommended 😊
😋 yummy crepes and pancakes 🥞 very delicious with really large portions
Great place if you fancy a chocolate indulgence
Great food and price but service was terrible and didn’t receive half of order as they were so slow with drinks so we cancelled them as all the food etc had been eaten before we could catch someone to ask where they were.
Great food but was cold as the door doesn’t close properly
Excellent service great food good atmosphere will be back again
Excellent for people with a sweet tooth.
Went on Saturday, was glad I booked.
It was a great overall but it was abit were they get confuse with the order
Great menu with an good choice of sweet treats including build your own. Attentive service too.
Had a lovely afternoon treat at Coro on our visit to Edinburgh. Cinnamon bun crepe and shortbread waffle were both extremely tasty and a good size portion. Really enjoyed it!
My nieces loved it! Basic and no frills although staff were lovely
After waiting for 35 mins one of the servers came over and apologized for the delay as the printer sometimes misses orders.
Food came quickly after that, not his fault but just a bit disappointing that's all.
the place its self was ok a bit cafey like nothing amazing sadly .
Food was nice but again not really wow so would not be a rush to go back.
Excellent! Visiting from AZ. Easy to find. A chocolate lovers dream! Friendly service and great affordable loving Chocolate choices! A must when visiting! Peace Thank You!
Our 3rd or 4th time to Coro’s but wanted friends visiting Edinburgh to sample the delights of Coro’s. Got to say we weren’t left disappointed. Everyone loved it. One of my kids favourite places for waffles and crepes! Can’t wait to come back.
I was far from satisfied after our visit. I expected a restaurant, whose servers knows how to look after their customers, how to give them good advice, but unfortunately, this was not the case.
In Edinburgh, I was always looking for a good hot chocolate as I haven't drank many good quality ones so far. I like dense chocolate and when I asked the server for advice when choosing from your menu, she said that the same chocolate as they use for Fondue, is the one, I should order. Instead of dense chocolate I have received a drinking chocolate I can get in Sainsbury's for half the price I have paid.
No water was offered to us, I consider it a must-do for any hot drinks, especially hot chocolate as it is really sweet, to have something to neutralise your tastes. Had to ask for it one server, which was too busy to notice us for quite a while. No napkin was provided with the drink. When I took out the spoon from the glass, whipped cream spilt over and ended on the table, and didn't have anything to wipe it with.
On arrival the staff member who greeted us wasn't the most enthusiastic so I wasnt sure we'd made the right choice. However this must have been a blip as when she came to take our order she was very nice as were all staff we dealt with. Food was brilliant! Thought at first it was a bit pricey however when the freshly made portions arrived, we were more than happy. Will be back to try more from the menu!
Appealing to someone with a sweet tooth, however food was average and in particular the service was very poor. Young blonde girl that served us had a face like a smacked bottom and barely muttered two words to us the whole time. Place was cramped and noisy, can’t see us going back.
Good Ice cream & waffles, fruit a bit bitter. Staff are sullen and unfriendly. Staff unfriendliness definitely spoilt our experience.
Delightful cafe! We were in Chocolate Heaven! highly recommend a visit!
Quick and friendly service , happy kids and very happy mums ! Food was gorgeous
Totally fab place . Took my husband and dad for father’s day . Lovely friendly staff , spotlessly clean. A truly indulgent brunch !
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Coro. The hot milk chocolate and the salted caramel milkshake were both excellent. I ordered two waffles with Jaffa cakes and melted chocolate and it was great but I wished I’d ordered the millionaire shortbread caramel waffles which my husband had. He ordered 4 waffles, I ordered two, but actually I had one of his so we each had 3!!!
Very filling and very sickly but if you have a sweet tooth this place is for you.
Great for my 11 year olds birthday treat. Big choice of everything chocolate. Loved it
The food was spectacular!
From the moment we walked in we didn’t feel welcome, we had to wait 25 mins to place our order, I went up to ask the servers if I order at the till as we have been waiting for 25 mins and all the serving staff where standing playing on their phones and chatting, once we finally got our food, the coffee we ordered was cold and the waffles where also cold, and as soon as we had finished the bill was placed on our table without us asking for it, I felt like we where being rushed out. Which is a shame because I was looking forward to coming here as it was our first time here and sadly will be our last
Lovely place with yummy food. A must if you have a sweet tooth hehe
Staff super friendly, great coffee too. Shame there was no baby changing facility when they offer high chairs!
Delicious! The waiter split our bill to make it easier for us which was really helpful.
The ambience was very cosy and nice and the food was amazing.
Our food came very quickly And all was good.
Would definitely recommend to family’s,special events, dates and friends get togethers
Very good waiter attentive and respective. Food was delicious, slightly pricey but worth it. Definitely recommend to friends and will be back
Lots of choice of desserts, too many to choose from and just off of Princes Street making it very convenient and easy to find. All staff were very pleasant and helpful and very helpful when I mentioned my nut allergy (which I mistakenly forgot to do before I ordered). The gentleman who had served us and sat us down kindly checked quickly and there were no nuts so I was able to enjoy my Oreo Waffles which were amazing. My partner had the banana and chocolate waffles which looked equally as good. Overall a very nice experience and lovely place for dessert or nice cup of coffee, would definitely be back next time we're in Edinburgh.
Great service from our waiter and wonderful food, but we were sat in the back room of the cafe in a booth between the service counter covered in crockery and an area used to store some empty cardboard boxes. It was all a bit crammed in. The front of the restaurant love looked far more inviting I have to say.
This was a return visit for some of us, this time for a birthday brunch. The atmosphere is fun and friendly, although it gets really loud in the cafe so it is not easy to have a conversation. The staff were helpful and efficient and we weren't waiting long for food despite it being a busy Saturday. The waffles were light and a 2-waffle portion was the right amount for brunch. Great range of toppings for the crepes, waffles and pancakes. Savoury pancakes were tasty too. Overall it was very good. I'd love to see a couple of soups on the menu as a bowl of soup followed by a crepe or waffle would be great at lunchtime.
It was absolutely delicious! I live in West Lothian and it’s definitely worth the commute. I will definitely be returning!
Amazing food and great selection of options at reasonable prices. Service was quick and helpful. Exciting decor as well- all the Instagram opportunities!
