El lugar es muy bonito. La atención fue muy buena. La comida estuvo bueno, pero es demasiado costoso.
The food portions were small, not tasty, and definitely not worth the price (which was high). We had to go get food elsewhere after we left.
We went there for brunch with some friends and everything was delicious! They gave us a small cake as a an anniversary gift! Amazing service!
Friends in town
Waitress got 2 of the 4 items in our order all mixed up. First, she brought me a wrong appetizer I never ordered. When we told her that wasn’t ours, she agreed and said “keep it, I’ll bring your Arctic Char dish. Then my entree was missing the main ingredient, chicken, when I brought this up to a different server because our original waitress was busy, he walked away to ascertain, came back and said I ordered it without chicken, which is ridiculous. When I insisted that I wouldn’t order a chicken dish and ask for the chicken to be left out, he told someone who I guess was the manager, who then didn’t come to our table first to explain what he was doing, but went to the kitchen and came back later with a small bowl full of shredded chicken and set it in the table and said “I gave you extra” I guess he expected me to assemble the dish myself at my table. I don’t understand why he didn’t just take the dish away and have the chef prepare it again or add the chicken. I guess I paid to prepare my own food.
Extremely overpriced. Enjoyed it time there but not sure I am going back there.
Tiny plates of food, and no real flavor? So expensive and a let down!
The waitstaff was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and how much our group should order since we were looking to share a bunch of dishes. All of the recommendations came without hesitation and spanned the breadth of the menu. The food and drinks were excellent - do not skip the duck carnitas! - and I cannot wait to go back
Overrated, overpriced, tiny portions. You couldn’t fill my margarita glass more than halfway? In 40 years of dining in NYC... Cosme was the single worst experience. Complete rip-off!!! There’s no way this place survives.
Not enough options or diversity in the menu.
Food and service were top notch!
I have been to Cosme several times. I had a booking for last evening for at 8:30pm and was hosting clients. I was running late and tried to call the restaurant to alert them to the delay. I called 4 times but one one ever answered the phone. When we finally arrived it was just at over the 15 minute grace period that the hostess was so readily to say was their seating policy. I advised that I attempted to call to alert them of the delay and pointed to the phone that was on the podium. I asked, was there any reason why no one was answering the phone or if their phones were not working. I just received a shrug and a reply of 'I don't know'. We were told we would have to wait 30 minutes for a table to open up. We decided to wait at the bar. We had 2 rounds of drinks and the manager came over to say it would still be longer but would not give a specific time. We waited close to an hour before we were sat. Whilst we were offered a round of drinks and seats at the communal table, I declined. Being in the hospitality industry I have to say that Cosme has lots to work on in terms of customer service and training their staff. If I were Enrique Olvera, I would be very concerned to have my name attached to a place that pales in comparison to delivering a great experience like Pujol does. Once we sat, the food was amazing as always and the service fine. I am going think twice to recommending this restaurant to anyone.
Kind of on the steep side for cost, as the portions are very small, but the food was delicious.
the food is excellent but the service is absolutely awful. they wouldn't seat us until our full party was there, which is already annoying. then wouldn't take our coats for the check until the full party was there. then when we transferred from the bar to table, didn't bring our drinks. never checked our winter coats even when seated. we had to ask again. took about an hour to take our drink and food orders after having to ask for waiters multiple times.
food came out quite quickly, but the team attempted to clear our table as quickly as the food came out. small bits of consideration were really lost - we were a party of five and they would only bring tortillas for four. We had to ask if they would be okay expanding a dish to five people and they were begrudgingly okay with that. Then they tried to clear our duck about 4 times before we were finished eating and took our drinks away when there was still liquid left. and the finale - they forgot our dessert. comped the dessert.
at the price point - $30 for one taco - $98 for a duck shared plate for two -the service is abysmal. service and quality are what make a restaurant stand out, in my view, and cosme's lost its touch.
Very sleek setting, great ambiance and vide. This is not your Rosa Mexican Mexican food. Takes Mexican fare to a new level. Smaller plates are too small for sharing (uni, crab etc) but black seabass and duck can easily feed up to four people (tasting wise). Cocktails are good, especially margaritas but expensive.
A perfect place for a perfect meal.
Creative dishes and mixes of flavors.
Something for everyone and super-friendly staff to guide you through a menu like none you’ve experience before.
I cant wait to get back!
Cosme was everything that used to be wrong with New York, an air of exclusivity with no actual idea why. there was no quality to back the arrogance, and they also don’t even know who they are being exclusive to. A fundamental lack of understanding as to who their clientele is makes cosme a bit of a comical experience. They’re setup like a movie set, with a lack of any star power.
Overpriced and underwhelming. Awful lunch. Dover sole tacos for 2 at $65.00.. Outrageous. All the food we ordered was prepared in advance and served at room temp.
This is an "Emperor's new clothes" restaurant.
I didn’t like the food, was for my taste too small, I asked for example mole and it was very small and expensive, same with duck.
I didn’t felt the fish was fresh, and it was kinda expensive for the food, I been in Pujol same chefs restaurant and is better for my taste.
La comida es muy buen pero poca cantidad, el servicio muy bueno y el lugar muy lindo y agradable
Very thoughtfully designed menu, from the complimentary house-made blue corn tortillas with smoky adobo sesame oil dip, to the artfully flowered guacamole, and the unique tataki with habanero pineapple puree and my companion's tempura butternut squash served with shiso leaves steamed into the yellow corn tortillas. Remarkable, tasty and servings not as small as the waiter warned. Wished I was there for dinner to get one of the interesting cocktails and more dishes...
Everything on the menu is amazing! The sea bass entree is delicious. Crispy skin with smooth fish and the well paired sauce comes together with the special tortilla (has a green leaf on I forget the name). Cannot wait to be back again
Cosme was a great find. I love Mexican food and while the menu was unusual compared to common US fare it actually more directly reflects the actual cuisine of Mexico. We enjoyed multiple dishes all creatively made and displayed including some fresh fish and a wonderful pork chop. Highly recommended. We had lunch but looks to be a fine date night spot as well. Good and creative cocktails as well.
Our whole group didn’t arrive until 10 mins past the reservation but it felt egregious that we ended up waiting 45 mins for a table. Separately, it was incredibly loud so it was difficult to hear the others are my table.
Table service was great. The food was delicious and the duck carnitas and mushroom dishes were a highlight.
When I read that the chef was ranked as the best female chef and the restaurant was ranked 23 out of 50 of the world; I expected my mind to be blown. It was great yet it did not live up to my expectations.
Fascinating flavors, ones you immediately wish were more frequently accessible in Mexican cuisine. A genuine learning experience
Liked the food. The chilequiles were great. Ceviche was good. Corn omelette was surprisingly smooth. Noise got a bit too loud after a group of young women cane in — they were in shriek mode. Terrible Bloody Mary but nice choice of sherry.
To be completely honest, firstly, once we were seated our drink orders were not taken until 30 minutes later and then we were given drinks that we did not order. Secondly, the food was small, in amount and flavour. I understand the meaning of ‘fine dining’ however this experience was not even close. Our waiter took over 40 minutes to take our food order and then an additional 40 minutes for our food to arrive in waves. For a table of 6 the amount of tortillas to their “shareable” dish was vastly skewed. In addition the drinks are over priced and not up to par with the amount given for a 20$ cocktail. I suppose this is the first and last visit to this restaurant.
Una gran experiencia, sobresale el toque mexicano en la cocina, si vas a NY ¡No te lo debes perder!
I love an innovative menu, but when every single dish needs an explanation, perhaps they should also include a photo of the dish or an experienced and PATIENT wait person who is happy to explain all the details. THe food was beautifully presented but not commensurate with the price or the quality of service. The portions are very small except for the entrees that are meant to be shared; we were all hungry by the end of our meal. Sorry Chef, very nice ambiance and food presentation but we are sorry to say we can not recommend eating here unless some changes are made. The place was full on a Sunday night, so I’m sure COSME is doing very well and my comments are all for naught. Salud!
Came here for my girlfriends birthday brunch and we had an incredible experience. I mentioned that it was her birthday in the reservation notes and they remembered and brought out an amazing Tres Leche cake. The food was soo tasty and fresh.
Food is always delicious but the service is smug and lacking. Overpriced wine and the shortest pour in NYC. There are better options.
Very efficient and friendly service. We love the ambiance and music, perfect for a Saturday night in NYC.
Of course, duck carnitas and hisk meringue are the winning combo
Amazing food, great service, nice atmosphere!
Good food but not what it used to be. Quality of service is just not there,
Small plates but exceptional taste, even tough the Mole was almost the same as in Pujol in Mexico City (sauce only) with a side of home made tortillas I could definitely say is the best Mole we’ve ever had. The aguachile was amazing too, the twist of Japanese fish mixed with the traditional Sinaloa dish was a wonderful mouthful of joy.
We had the merengue and the pear parfait for desert with a café de olla and carajillo for desert, it felt like home.
Chef did not disappoint.
