Typical Cottons dishes include jerk chicken; homemade curried mutton; and Cottons most popular vegetarian dish Chaguanas Dinner Plate - chana dhal curry served with black eyed bean, chick pea and callaloo fritters, and plantain. All jerk meats at Cottons are grilled and smoked over coals and oak wood chips with hickory and pimiento and covered in Cottons homemade jerk sauce.
Cocktails are predominantly rum-based featuring Cottons originals like Sorrell Sling – beefeater gin, homemade sorrel squash, fresh lemon, creme de casssis and soda water; Cottons Punch and Killer Doppi made from four different rums.

Visited a few days ago, I had reservations and arrived at the acquired time. Was not seated until half an hour of arriving. We were not attended to by a waiter/waitress for another half our and when we were they said they were going to a different table first. Baring in mind the table he went to did not make reservations and walked in which was not allowed as they were fully booked. Previously some customers were turned away as they didn’t make a reservation however these girls had walked in on their own without queuing and then were seen to before us and we had been waiting to be served for over 45 minutes.
After we finally ordered our food and drinks we then had to wait another hour for our STARTER! Not even a drink first. We got our starters and our drinks came 15 minutes after. By that time we had finished our starter as we couldn’t wait. Almost another hour after our drinks we then got our mains which were delicious.
However, I took my leftovers home and planned to eat them for lunch the next day. To my surprise the pork was raw and pink inside. The pork I ate while at the restaurant was fine and not raw but the One bit I took home was completely inedible.
It’s very disappointing that me and my partner had to endure this, this was the first and possibly last time visiting Cottons Vauxhall.
The food and drinks were good.
We reserved a table for two and got to the restaurant on time, but our order arrived 1 hour later (not exaggerating).
Staff was friendly but they looked very stressed, as if they didn’t know what they were doing. We felt ignored for a very long time and it was very difficult to get the waiters’ attention.
we had a great time what more can you say - great crowd, lovely staff, enjoyable evening
Food was amazing and the drinks were lovely and strong!
We had a lovely date night with a lovely view of the Thames. The food was amazing and all staff including the door staff were exceptional! Will definitely come back again.
The while dining experience was value for money. Initially the customer service was quite slow however once we relayed our concerns, service improved immensely. They were really attentive and allowed us adequate time to eat our meal without feeling hassled.
I will definitely be back.
Terrible..... starters took 1hr 20 mins to arrive and was extremely disappointing.... another 1 hr +for main. Again disappointing chargrilled everything..... could barely distinguish what it was. Unfortunately I will not be returning unless I’ve eaten a meal elsewhere first!
Words just cannot explain !!
Food - out of this world . The jerk sauce ...,,,,yummy !!!
Scenery - amazing
I have no negatives about cottons . Already booked to go again !
It was nice
Excellent food, service from staff and a beautiful venue - love it one of my favourite places to go eat in south London
Food cold, mac and cheese poor, waiter kept squeezing them self between me and the plant. At the end paid for the bill an another waiter asked me if I wanted the bill again. Lack of communication. Felt like they wanted us out as it was getting to end of closing time.
Overall a very bad service.
Drinks were okp
The food was nice, but a bit overpriced, nice atmosphere.
I think Cottons has changed over the years. The food is okay but not as great as it used to be. The rice portion I had was not in proportion to my meal(it was tiny!!) a few tweaks and it could be back to a 10!!
Delicious food and drinks, great atmosphere and service but the main meals are a little overpriced in my opinion.
The food was so tasty and loved the outdoor set up. I will be coming here again!
Best Caribbean food in London hands down great atmosphere
Great outdoor space. Tasty food and friendly staff. A little slow on service and quite expensive but would still recommend overall.
Food and drink was amazing am most definitely coming back x
This was my first time at Cottons and I’ll definitely be going back. The service, drinks, food and atmosphere were lovely. My family and I were there to celebrate my Birthday.
We were made to feel welcome and all staff wore their face masks when approaching our table.
The food arrived in good time and tasted devine.
I will definitely be back.
Great food and a brilliant vibe, would defo go again!
Lovely venue and enjoyed the food but we had to wait a while for drinks and food to come. Overall an enjoyable experience, we will come back
We got seated quickly and our order came out quickly! The workers were really friendly and helpful when we wanted to move table.
First time visiting, will definitely be coming back the food was phenomenal and the cocktails were 10:10
The service was poor unfortunately staff were very slow at serving and we often had to wave our arms around to get noticed. Seemed like the manager was also very unapproachable. Food and cocktails has always been good here.
Helpful staff, ordered dinner and cocktails. Didn’t have to wait long for anything and staff were very attentive.
Great food, cocktails have a kick, superb staff & lovely view of the river. Never been? Come on try it! I luv it!
All of the meat items came out burnt. The jerk sauce wasnt tasty at all very bitter and watery. The seafood items were not much better quiet bland lacked any carribean flavour ,vibe or style. The cocktails were a 2/10 in flavour and quality. The best part about my visit was the music and the staff. The playlist was fantastic , real carribean vibes. The service timinig was off but thats understandable due to Covid19 implications. However , when there was service it was 10/10 very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Overall, Spent over £100 for 2 people and left hungry and unsatified . So big thumbs down on this occasion.
Saltfish fritters is a good starter. Fish or jerk platter for mains. The jerk pork is very good as well. Cottons cocktail and reggae rum punch 👍🏽
Lovely efficient staff, yummy food (needed to be a little more spicy) I would recommend and visit again x
The bottomless rum punch is sooooo recommended. The punch was sweet and i could taste the alcohol. The pancakes was absolutely divine. Had a great time.
Went for the bottomless brunch and had tasting food. The service was also good.
Poor service. I'm going to caveat my review as we are just coming out of lockdown and it might be that they were just getting going.
Took 20 minutes to take a first drinks order even though the restaurant looked at about 25% capacity at the very max.
Starters were bland (garlic prawns)
Food was brought out and then the server disappeared without providing knives and forks - it was cold when I managed to get someone's attention.
Waitress was extremely polite
Main dish was huge
Location is brilliant
Door man is polite
Manager was very rude and impolite and from the start. Took ages for waiters to take orders. Our Tiger prawns were brought out cold. And when asked to swap for something else they refused. Gave us shots as a “nice gesture” the manager still didn’t apologise and was avoiding us the whole night. The cocktails were the only good thing and the view. Other waitresses were also helpful they helped us when we had an issue. We didn’t feel comfortable at all and it ruined our evening. Also everyone else’s food was cold and bland. Curried mutton and jerk chicken.
Had a lovely evening, the food was nicely presented and tasted excellent.
Enjoyed the food. Good sitting area overlooking the river.
Took my partner on a date, and we had an amazing time. Food was great, cocktails were amazing, and the staff were so attentive and just amazing. Highly recommended.
Had a lovely evening, the service was great. The covid measures were executed with ease and were non-disruptive to the experience.
The food was amazing! though I would say the prawn starter is not the best value for money but it was tasty and everything else we ordered definitely was good value for money.
Great food, great staff
Enjoyed our meal and drinks at Cottons. Fabulous location and good value and prices for London .
The service was good and staff very attentive. Looking forward to returning in the future.
Service was seriously abysmal food took over 1.5 hours to come to us and that was just starters!!! We had to continually get up to get service from the waiters even though it wasn’t busy at all. Ridiculous service not t mention there was hair in our food multiple times. Yuck
