Sunday Development Session is a platform we have created a while back with the sole purpose of allowing our bar team to continuously work on new cocktails. And trust me they cannot get enough of it. How does it work? Well every Sunday we put 4 of those concoctions (work in progress drinks) on a special menu and we sell them for 6£ each. All we ask in return is your honest feedback so we can continue working on them.

Loved the decor and lighting. Was a bit disappointed to find the food menu consisted of small plates as opposed to the pics I saw online, which appears to cater to more dinner mains. Cocktails were lovely. Music was a bit all over the map. Entered the bar with some classic rock going and left with MGMT cranking. Not sure what they're going for to set a vibe, but I feel like it could've benefited from a more unified theme.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed by my experience. I booked a reservation on Opentable for 12am for 6 persons (confirmed around 11:20pm) and traveled nearly 30 minutes to the restaurant. When I got there, the reservations asked if we booked the reservation recently and then shrugged his shoulders and said he did not have a table. After a few minutes of looking surprised that we wanted to stay, he offered to seat us in the walk in area just near the front door (not great seating with the doors opening and closing just beside us) that would barely fit our group as it is for two or max three. Only when he was about to seat us because we had no better choice, he mentioned that by the way the kitchen is already closed and they were about to do the last drinks order. While I want to be sympathetic to a busy restaurant and bar on a Friday night, having an available slot for a full reservation on Opentable is extremely unprofessional. There was even a bookable slot at 12:30am so we were not the last reservation. This wasted our time and money and left us hungry. There was no sympathy from the venue and it was clear their preference was for us to just leave. Which we did. I have not tried the food and drink.

Love, love, LOVE this place. The cocktails are so well made, and I've never had a bad cocktail. Even when tasting my partners drinks where the flavours weren't to my taste, you can still taste how well the cocktail is put together. Would throughly recommend. The service is always fantastic too!

Been a few times but I feel the service has started to slip. Drinks take a really long time and almost every drink is full to the rim with large ice cubes. Not as good as it once was.

What a beautiful little spot in Bethnal Green. The staff, decor and drinks were really top notch. Our waitress was quite new but had all the right info when it came to the menu, she was always topping up our water which is a small difference that goes a long way. We didn’t wait too long between drink orders and despite it being busy we could easily chat amongst the 3 of us without shouting. I will definitely be back! Only suggestion would be coat hooks and little umbrella stands somewhere discreet :)

We made reservations via OpenTable for a special occasion, only to travel and arrive to find a small note in the window stating Coupette was closed. We had even received an email that morning chasing us to reconfirm our reservation to keep our space. Very disappointed.

A great little spot for drinks - great cocktails! Gripes: - 18-only license might please most guests, but we got caught out when our friend’s 9 yo was not allowed to join and our friend had to leave. Quite disappointing. No info on bar’s website or Open Table, and since no-one answers the phone either during or before opening times (5-11pm) we did not get a chance to ask. The only link from Coupette’s website is to OpenTable booking page - please make age redriction clear. - reviews in The Telegraph, the nudge and in Time Out promise amazing hot food yet the food ordering date mostly bar snacks and cheese and charcuterie platters. Nice as they are, you’ll need a few to make it a drinks and (expensive) food affair. - my “dry with olive” martini came with one tiny tinned olive. For a £10 martini I would use fat juicy bar olives or put three on skewer. The good stuff: Good selection of drinks, great cocktails. Guests drinking mostly cocktails and wine - good sign for a cocktail bar! Order taken at the table, tap water and popcorn tirelessly refilled by polite and knowledgeable staff. The soundtrack of 80-early 90s hip hop and remixes is brilliant. It is possibly a bit on the loud side for the mostly couple and small group clientele. Quirky stripped back decor, a bit under-lit, possibly to create a slightly prohibition-y look. Clean, spacious toilets. All in all, in an area with no other obvious bar choices and too many pubs, you could do a lot worse for a sophisticated yet laidback a drink or three!

Even though I had booked on here I arrived to be told they weren’t opening that night as they had a private party, I explained I’d booked that afternoon and got a “sorry, we’re closed” no suggestion of anywhere else, just the door closed on me. I walked past an hour later having had to find somewhere random to meet up with my friend to see the same guy sat in there and no customers so I wasn’t exactly impressed that he hadn’t offered for us to come in for the hour we had to fill in the area.

All the drinks were great - creative yet simple and extremely tasty. They were clearly understaffed for the amount of people in there but didn’t seem to affect the quality of the drinks and the two waitresses were still attentive and considerate, while being rushed off their feet.

Well deserved of The World’s 50 Best Bars designation, highly recommended for those who appreciate a well crafted cocktail that pays special attention to the details. There’s print on the wall says, “I f—ing love this place.” Enough said.

Nice to have somewhere classy at this end of Bethnal Green Road. Food was fairly standard but the cocktails were next level, nice to feel like your £9.50 is actually worth it, unlike half of shoreditch where all you get is cheap booze with a tonne of sugar syrup and juice
