Court Brasserie at Stonehouse Court
The restaurant takes its name from the properties historical ‘Justices Room’, where local administration of public justice took place during the 19th century, often presided over by a regional magistrate.
Despite this, we can assure you the staff nowadays are considerably less judgmental.
Our lunch menu is available from 12:00 - 14:00, offering a bistro menu and light bites. Dinner is served from 19:00-21:00 and is open 7 days a week. Reservations are recommended. Please call 01453 794 950 for more information."
Always helpful, nice food and good surroundings. Good for my grandchildren.
Over all had a great meal, setting lovely and service good, only bad point was the cheese board at the end of the meal. Cheese was priced individually or three pieces for £15, we went for the latter deciding to share it as I only wanted a small amount anyway which was a good thing! The portions whilst tasty were very small, two types of crackers (small portions again) one of them tasted like chocolate-not pleasant and a few balsamic pickled onions. I think they were trying to be too fancy, a good portion of cheese, some normal crackers and chutney or relish would have been much better!
On the whole though very enjoyable.
A great menu that enabled me to try something new.
Service was excellent and the food was superb.
Lovely meal at this Hotel. Good choice on the menu with good value. Great attentive service and romantic ambience.
Good food and nice friendly service, the restaurant was clean and spacious.
Good options of food and were too a high standard.
Stonehouse Court made space for us for afternoon tea even though they were not taking bookings. Lovely afternoon tea.
The food was great. Long wait for our starters when only us there. However we were not rushed. Very dark in the restaurant. Stairs to the restaurant and another flight of stairs to the toilets. Couldn't see any disabled facilities or disabled access to the restaurant.
Great surroundings, attentive service and excellent food.
My husband said it was the best sausage and mash dish he had ever had and my rare steak was perfect.
The young lady who served our food was superb. The food was generally OK, but the steak and the fish appeared to have a little more salt than was necessary. The main downside was standing in the doorway, waiting to be seated, whilst the lady was involved in a conversation with people already seated. If that made us feel uncomfortable, the same lady talked with the same customers at breakfast, after they had come into the Brasserie after us! We felt a bit like second class citizens.
The food was excellent. It was a very efficient and friendly service.
Food served on cold plates so tepid when served.
Just poor pub grub really.
We felt the menu prices didn’t reflect the quality of the food and felt it was overpriced. I ordered Cajun chicken which said it came with jalapeños when it came it was a chicken burger with bacon and cheese not what I was expecting and very disappointing as I do not like burgers. I didn’t want to spoil my friends meal so I ate some of it. On checking the menu on the website when we got home there was no Cajun chicken only the burger so I think we were given an old menu in the restaurant. I did mention to the waitress that it wasn’t what I was expecting and said she would mention it to the manager but offered no explanation. We were also charged 10% service charge added to the bill, we were only a party of 4 and although it was optional we felt obliged to pay it so as not to cause offence.
The hotel offers itself as up market, I was very disappointed and would not recommend eating there to a friend.
Great ambience food was ok... steak was very chewy
Great food excellent service,
But the only thing not so good was due to being seated at a table too close to reception, main doorway into the building
We had a wonderful experience on Mothering Sunday. The staff were very busy but were wonderfully supportive of our family. The meal was superb (fabulous beef), the sweets very tempting and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much for making my day. Our family is always a challenge but Stonehouse Court was marvellous
My wife and I both had steak. The steak was no more than OK. It's a shame because the rest of the food was good as was the wine.
The service we received was excellent and the food matched.
Brilliant food and brilliant service in wonderful surroundings, what more can you ask for?!
Booking was confused. They thought it was for 2 not 5. Clearly under staffed. Things asked for were forgotten and had to remind. Food was excellent.
Good restaurant with tasty food and a nice atmosphere.
Our third time of dining at this restaurant and after a few problems last time, it's back up to it's good standard. Unobtrusive music, great food and good service. Definitely a good place for a birthday celebration.
The food and the set up was fine, but it took over 2 hours for us to be served a main course and desert in the evening (and we had our 9 year old daughter with us) which was just too long and made the evening a disappointment. There were not enough staff on. It a nice place but this has put us off, and I wouldn't go back at the moment
Superb evening.... try the sardines! Log fire especially awesome
Good food and service would go again, if in the area
Great food and service perfect for celebrating a birthday lunch.
great food again but this time the service was a little slow and the diners were all in the same area which made conversation awkward; on spread out tables would have been more pleasant
The Brasserie is a charming room. The menu is good and varied with a range of starters plus the opportunity to choose a selection of small plates. The mains range from a choice of steaks to fish and steak and ale pie. A good - but smaller - selection of deserts.
The wine list is fairly extensive with a good choice of wines by the glass.
Dinner was excellent. Burger one of the best I have had in a long time.
Breakfast was OK. The menu says it is cooked to order, but I would think mine was all taken off a warming plate. Tasty but overcooked including a hard poached egg. Service was excellent with al, staff very helpful.
lovely, quiet, restaurant in the traditional set up ie not Bistro where you're sat with the next table! Nice music that didn't blast and the food was fantastic. well worth the visit, will definitely be going again
We went for lunch mid week. The restaurant was empty so very soulless and obviously lacking atmosphere.
The service was very slow, the food nice when it finally arrived.
Probably better for an evening meal or busy weekend.
Took a chance on an overnight hotel package and meal in the hotel restaurant. In all honesty we were not expecting a great deal as hotel restaurants have had the habit of not delivering. However, we would have to try hard to fault the Stonehouse hotel brasserie. We only had starters and mains but both used fresh ingredients and had been prepared to a high standard, keeping things elegant but not fussy. Importantly it was all delicious. The wine selection by the waiter was also well informed and it brought together an extremely good value meal. I just hope we weren’t simply lucky as I’d like to imagine this place could continue to deliver. The week before we’d dined at Clos Maggiore in Covent Garden and the Stonehouse put them to shame at 50% less. My advice is take a chance ...
Overall the meal was fine but my steak was tough and I was unable to eat it. However my husband's steak which was exactly the same order was delicious. No apology received despite complaining
Choose this hotel / restaurant to celebrate my Dad's 93rd birthday. Ambiance was good, food good and plentiful. Service was a little slow at times but that didn't matter as we were deep in conversation...
Also the bar is very nice and comfortable and if the weather is good (like on our day) the garden is also worth a visit...
We'll be going back for more meals based on this visit!
The menu is relatively limited but the worst part was that the chef had two attempts at cooking two medium steaks and failed miserably, a total of four steaks were practically incinerated and totally inedible.
I felt sorry for the front of house staff.
Management should sack the chef and employ a COOK!
We had steak and my wife had Beef & Ale Pie. Both cooked beautifully. Service was excellent too.
A fantastic menu and the food was superb along with the service!
An exceptional meal, well presented, and looked after by friendly and very professional staff.
We were a party of six staying in the hotel, and ate in the Brasserie two evenings running. We particularly liked the "small plates" and the Megrim sole. The food was much much better than we expected from a hotel, and we had two lovely evenings. Well done.
we were spending one night out for my birthday , and enjoyed the experience as a whole
