Court Yard Brasserie at The George Hotel
Catering for up to 46 diners, the restaurant's ambience is relaxed with friendly service. Serving excellent English al a carte dishes and daily specials, the Courtyard's talented chefs use only the freshest seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on local produce, to create inspired menus that change regularly.
Local suppliers include the award-winning Fairfield Farm, Assington Fruit Farm, Colchester Brewery and Colchester Oyster Fisheries, among others. During oyster season, guests, local diners and seafood lovers flock to the brasserie to enjoy the restaurant's classic take on world-famous Mersea Oysters, a popular choice with a glass of Champagne.
Complete disappointment, we arrived to a £10 car park charge. Not mentioned on the website. The dining area was worse than being in the school dinner hall. No Ala Carte menu, just a dirty piece of card with a set menu on it. The choices were dismal to say the least. Unfortunately we finished our drinks and left in search of something more palatable.
We did speak to the general manager and advised him that the website should be changed as it was misleading.
Genuinely surprised as to how good to food was. Absolutely delicious. Menu was a little small but the mains and desserts we had would be worth a second visit. Only slight complaint are that the waiters were very slow but that did mean we spent more time chatting so not really a problem. Would definitely recommend.
