Courtyard Bar & Kitchen
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the restaurant give outstanding views of St George’s Hall and Lime Street Plateau while downstairs in the bar you can choose to drink inside or out on the newly created drinks garden.
Upstairs in the restaurant, our friendly staff bring out generous portions of freshly cooked, locally sourced food in a relaxed setting. The menu is frequently updated to take advantage of seasonal fruit and vegetables so you will have the best food on your plate every time you visit.
The ground floor bar is a relaxed space for people who like great beer and wine. With a mix of local cask ales and the best international drinks brands, there will be plenty to choose from.
Great food the staff made us feel welcome will be back
We ordered a curry, which was far too much in proportion. The chicken was cut into very large dry chunks and the curry, though tasty, was more of a paste. No sour cream or yoghurt added. The rice had been cooked in unsalted water. Three of us could not eat much of this dish. We were there for over two hours and the restaurant was virtually deserted. Only two other couples there at that time and they left as soon as they had eaten. The service was good and sympathetic but one wonders why the venue was so unpopular? I had the impression that perhaps there was no chef overlooking what could have been a tasty meal.
Convenient for a meal before the theatre. Timing was excellent and I was beforehand to make sure we had enough time to eat before the show. Two of us had the cod which was cooked just right, although the fries must have been the last of the batch. The other person dining with us had the chicken and they found that rather dry. Having said that, it was very busy.
Really enjoy the courtyard, booked it because we were watching a show at the royal court so was really handy, the service was really quick & pleasant, the food was different from other places I've been too, very tasty & good value, liked the feel of the place with the big windows was almost like you were outside, overall a really enjoyable experience
Been a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it but disappointed this time. Menu & food was not as good and very limited menu choices and service was not as good this time. We arrived 1 3/4 hour before theatre for pre theatre menu and never had time for 3 courses.
The location and ambiance though is still brilliant!
Very helpful staff - good food before a show
Arrived a little late missed train. Phoned ahead. Staff friendly they were aware we were going the theatre. Served swiftly and meal arrived promptly. Chicken pasanda was lovely as usual. Chicken strips not as tender but overall meal and service was great. Made the theatre had a great time.
I enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere in the courtyard very much. When I first sat down though, I could feel the air conditioning right down my back but after moving tables to the centre I was fine. I would certainly visit here again.
great place , food fab, staff superb. Have already booked next meal
Great pre-theatre meal, great food, great service, good music and atmosphere. Loved it!
Very enjoyable relaxing lunch. Great view of St George’s Hall, not too busy, friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely atmosphere - relaxed but dining staff very attentive. Great menu, maybe slightly limited on the pre-theatre deal, would like to see a full menu and able to order two courses. Gorgeous basil feta salad though, stunning presentation.
Staff were brill - only critique was in the bar downstairs, girl on her own making a few intricate cocktails so we had to wait a while. Didn't put us off though, definitely return.
I would recommend the restaurant, however, I would not recommend the bar, as the music is too loud. You cannot chat to each other or order a drink as you cannot hear each other. Next time, I'll be wearing ear defenders, to protect my hearing.
It has been a while since we last visited & did not realise the change in menu from tapas. The staff are really friendly & professional. Had a problem with the meal - a hair in the batter of the fish. It was dealt with speedily & without fuss. We feel the new' menu does not cater for all tastes, but overall enjoyed our meal & will return.
Arrived a little before our reservation, but no problem at all.
Staff were helpful and attentive, one of whom gave us expert information about a local building
Food was varied and delicious, served nice and hot on a warm plate.
Partner had a salmon teriyaki and I the lamb koftas which was a great decision receiving a good portion served on a warm flatbread with hummus and couscous
Deserts were good sized too with the cheese platter more than enough
Good value too, 3 courses with a couple of drinks each for well under £60 and all perfectly timed to get to see the show next door with plenty of time to spare.
Absolutely fabulous service. The staff surprised my aunt by singing happy birthday too!
Starters were fine. The mains disappointing one person sent hers back. Some said the chips were cold. The salmon was very similar meal to the starter. Not good.
Staff very apologetic abd did reduce the bill. No rush to go back.
I was wary of stairs as I had a recent injury and had a crutch. The young Barman came directly over offering assistance, how courteous!
Enjoyed the food . Staff were good . There wasn’t many people in the restaurant as it was midday so not a lot of ambiance.
We were attending a show at the Royal Court Studio so booked a Pre Theatre Meal.
There was a good choice and it is good value at £16 for two courses.
We all enjoyed our meals and would definitely return.
Service was good too although we had to ask where our drinks were a couple of times.
Exceeded all our expectations. Staff were very courteous, helpful and thoroughly efficient.
Loved the view from the dining area. The bar was crazy busy. Food was lovely but not piping hot, wasn't an issue with the meals we ordered though. Slight issue with the overcharging on the bill but Great cocktails.
First time dining here and certainly won’t be our last. Staff are very welcoming, food is delicious although we only had the pre show menu to choose from (even though we weren’t seeing a show) service was a little slow (waited a while for drinks and ketchup) but to be fair was quite busy due to show on next door at Royal Court. Will definitely return.
first visit and it wont be our last.myself and my wife were attending the royal court for a show and decided to try the courtyard rather than go into town.
we found the whole experiance to be superb from the staff who were attentive and pleasant in attending us.
Then the food which was as good as many top restaurants we have visited in the past.
I would highly recommend the Courtyard to anyone visiting Liverpool for a visit.
Went prior to the theatre , no a la carte menu , restricted in choice, Salmon was eatable and noddles coated in thick slimy sauce. Wouldnt go again
Had booked there was no option to book seat by window ...was a vacant table by window asked to sit there got told no that window table booked dont know how as no option to book that . Also got brought wrong drink .
Could not fault the service or the meal. Lovely friendly staff. Would recommend the curry. Will be booking again.
Food was excellent, restaurant staff friendly and efficient (asked if we were going to see a show next door so hurried our order along) would defiantly recommend and be returning ourselves. Bar afterwards great layout and outside area (especially on hottest night so far) but bartender trying to serve more than one customer at a time led to a few wrong drinks being served. The charging of doubles of drinks as 2 singles led to a bit of confusion when given the bill which had the prices of 6 drinks listed when ordered 4 of which 2 were also listed as different beers to what we had actually ordered ( so you can understand the confusion). I appreciate that when the theatre lets out it gets busy but taking one order at a time would save having to serve the order twice.
Overall restaurant 10/10 bar 6/10.
First time I have visited and will definitely return. Service was excellent and the food superb. Definitely recommend the lamb.
My self and a friend dined here pre concert. The service was very efficient. Lovely modern restaurant with great views of Liverpool. Also has a very nice courtyard.
The food was well presented, tasty and good value.
The menu is small but has good choices including vegetarian options.
One very helpful member of staff even ordered a taxi for us.
Definately recommend a visit. Good for couples and groups
Absolutely brilliant little gem amazing service and food !! Have already told my friends
Very nice place happy staff food was a little bit disappointing compared to menu but could of been one off southern fried chicken was very dry, Houmous was very runny. But would go back to see if was one off
Went to Courtyard after afternoon show on Royal Court and was looking forward to it after our previous visit!
Met by lovely waitress who was really nice
Great table looking out towards St George’s hall.
Presented with the “pre theatre menu” which appeared more basic than last time..
Ordered our meals - I was only one having a starter. Meatballs were lovely!
3 out of 4 of us has BBQ chicken strips.
The strips were actually quite chunky pieces of very dry chicken,...
One of the group found a piece of “packaging” on his plate at the end of his meal. Waitress was fantastic, apologising profusely.. The price of the meal was deducted from the bill...
3 people had sweets which they all complimented...
The main course BBQ chicken spoilt the meal...
Would I gamble on going again? Not sure...
We were served by a charming young lady who was friendly and efficient. Didn't get her name but hope she got our tip!
Very disappointed with the menu as was a different menu to the one on the website. We had decided what we were going to order from the website menu and felt the alternative was very poor.
Great meal with my brother for his birthday
I was asked at booking what the occasion was so I hoped they’d acknowledge hat at our meal it would have been a nice touch
Otherwise it was good food and the ice cream cocktail we shared was delicious
Very pleasant surprise. First time. Lovely table ready for us overlooking courtyard. First class customer service from everyone. Admired expert skills of cocktail maker! Food was absolutely delicious - carefully cooked, tasty and well presented. Terrible shouting and noise level from a very large party the other side - perhaps restrict large parties upstairs? Not that much space up there for such groups and it affects neighbouring tables very adversely. Will definitely come again, especially when we can't get a dining tick at the Royal Court. Many thanks all, Sally and Tony
Good food, friendly staff, nice views of St George very convenient for the theatre
First visit here, good to have a table reservation link attached to the theatre booking site.
Very impressed all round; clean, well lit bistro with great service and all timed perfectly to make the show next door.
We enjoyed a two course meal with a couple of drinks, all for under £50, all perfectly cooked with decent portions
Will defo be back
Staff were very pleasant but the service was very slow bearing in mind that it was a pre-theatre meal. We booked for 5:45 pm and had to rush to get to the Empire on time.
