Courtyard Bar & Kitchen
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the restaurant give outstanding views of St George’s Hall and Lime Street Plateau while downstairs in the bar you can choose to drink inside or out on the newly created drinks terrace.
Upstairs in the restaurant, our friendly staff bring out generous portions of freshly cooked, locally sourced food in a relaxed setting. The menu is frequently updated to take advantage of seasonal fruit and vegetables so you will have the best food on your plate every time you visit.
The ground floor bar is a relaxed space for people who like great beer and wine. Freshly made bar snacks will be coming out of the kitchen and, with a mix of local cask ales and the best international drinks brands, there will be plenty to choose from.
Very pleasant surprise. First time. Lovely table ready for us overlooking courtyard. First class customer service from everyone. Admired expert skills of cocktail maker! Food was absolutely delicious - carefully cooked, tasty and well presented. Terrible shouting and noise level from a very large party the other side - perhaps restrict large parties upstairs? Not that much space up there for such groups and it affects neighbouring tables very adversely. Will definitely come again, especially when we can't get a dining tick at the Royal Court. Many thanks all, Sally and Tony
Good food, friendly staff, nice views of St George very convenient for the theatre
First visit here, good to have a table reservation link attached to the theatre booking site.
Very impressed all round; clean, well lit bistro with great service and all timed perfectly to make the show next door.
We enjoyed a two course meal with a couple of drinks, all for under £50, all perfectly cooked with decent portions
Will defo be back
Staff were very pleasant but the service was very slow bearing in mind that it was a pre-theatre meal. We booked for 5:45 pm and had to rush to get to the Empire on time.
I was spending the night in Liverpool on a business trip and looking for a bite to eat close to the train station. The menu at the Courtyard Bar & Kitchen looked extremely promising, and when I arrived I was treated to a quiet atmosphere (it was Wednesday night, after all), polite staff, and an interesting menu. I ordered corned beef croquettes for starters and roasted pork belly with parnsip as a main. Sadly, neither quite lived up to my expectations -- the croquettes were rather bland, and could have benefitted from a spicy sauce to liven up an otherwise dull experience. The pork crackling was good, but the bottom layer of meat was dry and difficult to cut. The parsnips were good, though! The best of the meal was the dessert -- a mahoosive cheeseboard (could easily have shared with someone else) of interesting white and blue cheeses, accompanied by tasty chutney, and a rather unexpected avocado mouse. If this restaurant upped its game slightly, it would quickly become excellent, but I think there are better places to eat for the price elsewhere in Liverpool city centre.
The Courtyard wasn't that busy and the clientele was clearly pre-theatre. Staff were very pleasant but we had to keep asking for our main meal, which was cold when it came as we were ready to leave. One of our party didn't eat it. So God knows what the kitchen were doing. The vegetarian options compared to the ordinary menu was very poor. We didn't have time for desert or coffee although friends sat by us had all 4 courses in the same time. Very disappointing. As you would expect we received a significant discount.
Excellent roast lamb best ive had for some time. Friendly guy serving.
Third time we have been here but there will not be a fourth. The menu has changed and I suspect so has the chef because it was awful. We have come to expect haphazard service so was not surprised when a pint of lager turned up instead of the Guinness I ordered. It was changed without fuss but that isn’t really the point when I only ordered two drinks and 50% of them were wrong.
Was really pleasantly surprised! Surprised? As for the price paid was not expecting it to be as good as it was! Food was amazing! Staff were friendly & helpful, comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and great location for theatres etc.
Thank you! Had a great evening 😊👍🏼😊
Excellent experience from a quick cocktail downstairs to the dining upstairs.
Amazing staff from start to finish
Not a massive menu but what they do they do well!!
We will definitely be calling in again
Once again a brilliant meal with great customer service. I always come here with friends before a show and have not been let down yet. Food is always excellent with good choices for all tastes. Highly recommended and looking forward to my next visit.
Always come here when I go and see and show in the Royal Court/ Empire (which is quite a lot!)
Love the food- fresh and inventive.
Such a good deal, £16 for 2 courses, and they are great size!
Lovely wine selection.
Nicest place that we have been in a long time!! Will be going again soon.
Really nice environment, friendly staff and great food.
Beautiful bar with great views of St Georges Hall and the park behind. Service was fine. My biggest problem was the food. We had a booking for 12pm which is when it opens for lunch and they has no specials left despite them being on the board, there were no salmon goujons on the fish platter so we had to have cod ones and there were no smoked haddock fish cakes so they offered us more of one of the other platter items. The duck thigh croquettes has zero taste. Apparently they were very busy the night before so had run out of lots of stuff...... Hmmm not sure that’s a great way to gear up for a busy Saturday service. All in all very disappointing experience and probably won’t return as a result.
Lovely service from start to finish. Food was delicious and a lovely atmosphere within the restaurant.
Excellent menu choice. Staff friendly and helpful.
An excellent experience
ACE very good the best lovely food staff a were Ace the pudding was lovely what more can I say 5 STAR.
outside terrace, good atmosphere in bar, nice room upstairs with views, good food, great Local Real Ales
It was the first time my friend and I had been to your restaurant it was a wonderful experience from start to finish your staff were brilliant they were very attentive bwith out being pushy they were all very pleasant the food was amazing it was full of flavour and piping hot we will definitely return .
The food is delicious and the service is outstanding, everybody was lovely and super friendly! We had the pre theatre dinner menu which had lots of great choices and the dessert cocktails are phenomenal
Food and service were great and the meal was a nice precursor to the show in the Royal Court. Although there was a pre- theatre menu which was good, it was a little disappointing that there wasn’t an option to eat from the main menu. Overall though good experience and friendly staff
Have been going to the Courtyard since it opened and have never had a bad meal. But still getting used to the new menu and missing some of my old favourites.
We had a really great pre-show meal, loved the space and felt the ambience and service were great. It's also a great place to people watch! Will definitely be back.
Been here several times always a pleasure, staff are very friendly, food excellent will continue to use whenever we go to the theatre and maybe just pop in for drinks when we're in town.
Shocking poor service and distinctly average food. Not an experience I would repeat. Disappointing.
The only reason I’m giving this any accreditation is because the waiting staff were so friendly, welcoming and hard working.
The food was a real, real let down.
Soggy pork belly crackling, vinegary beetroot risotto, uncooked potato’s in the blind scouse which was then replaced by a meat based one - not great for vegans... shy on the jackfruit and the card machine was broken. All in all pretty disappointing.
The toilets were disgusting too - covered in wee.
Looks beautiful online but really deceiving. We waited a long time for our food too despite being the only table in the restaurant at the time.
I explained we were going to.a show in royal court and everyone else had their mains before our table. I was then questioned about what time the show was saying it's on at 8pm but we were in studio and the bar finished serving at 7.15. so we had to rush the meal when finally came out.
my friends meal was inedible and she complained
My visit was pre theatre but on a Friday night with Liverpool at home so I was expecting the worst. It was my first visit and I loved it, the food was amazing, the drinks were amazing and the staff was even better. I will definitely be back again.
Theatre menu was satisfactory, apart from starter choices which were very bland & unappealing. Chicken dish was good, as were desserts
We were in a slight hurry for the theatre and the staff checked with the chef that we indeed had enough time to eat. In the end we had two courses of high quality and good value food and left in time to catch our show. Overall, we would recommend this venue and will be going back again.
We had a lovely meal & great service at the Courtyard Bar & Kitchen.
Lovely food great service will definitely go again
Went to the courtyard when it was a tapas meal type restaurant and was so impressed. This time it was so disappointing. Limited pre- theatre menu with not much choice. My daughter opted for the salmon special - think they gave her a goldfish - salmon piece was so tiny and the rest of her meal the same. Service was extremely slow. Took ages just to order a drink. One table had to ask for their order to be taken - another just gave up. Having recently had a three course meal with wine in a fabulous restaurant elsewhere for £10 more than we paid for two course's at the Courtyard - we won't be rushing back.
First visit don't live in Liverpool very nice clean restaurant very friendly attentive staff food was nice hot and tasty and I can thoroughly recommend the salted caramel cheesecake absolutely delicious. The bartender even concocted a non alcoholic cocktail for me all in all a very enjoyable experience would recommend and will definitely dine there again on my next visit to Liverpool
We’ve eaten here before any enjoyed small plates, boards & very good menu selection food & drinks. However, I was very disappointed with the Sunday roast, it was presented ok but the food was only like warm, too much sweet potato mash on the plate, other veg was sparse & Yorkshire pud hard as not piping hot when served. The best but was the two roast potatoes but again not hot!
Sorry guys as on previous visits the food has been lovely, served hot and I’ve recommended it to family & friends.
Lovely atmosphere, great staff and yummy food. Had a lovely time cheers
Nice clean restaurant with very friendly staff. Food was average and service was very unpredictable very good at times but really poor at other times. It was not full but they seemed to struggle with a influx of customers which i find strange for a city restaurant especially one that focuses on supplying Theatre clientele with food on a daily basis.
It was a great location but service and food average.
Love this place!!! We shared the platters which were gorgeous! Great views over Liverpool. Definitely a great place to visit!
Fabulous food, amazing cocktails, lovely staff. Really handy for the station and the theatre. Really glad we found it online.
