Courtyard Bar & Kitchen
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the restaurant give outstanding views of St George’s Hall and Lime Street Plateau while downstairs in the bar you can choose to drink inside or out on the newly created drinks garden.
Upstairs in the restaurant, our friendly staff bring out generous portions of freshly cooked, locally sourced food in a relaxed setting. The menu is frequently updated to take advantage of seasonal fruit and vegetables so you will have the best food on your plate every time you visit.
The ground floor bar is a relaxed space for people who like great beer and wine. With a mix of local cask ales and the best international drinks brands, there will be plenty to choose from.
The food was awful. We had booked dinner prior to a show next door. My husband was sick as his food was so greasy. Mine was inedible.
Soup ok main course a mess drinks expensive for what you got
Went with 4 friends, food excellent as was the service, Staff very friendly. This was our second visit and we will definitely go again
First time here but it won’t be the last.Food and service excellent
The food and service were lovely but there was a table of drinkers very close to our table who were very noisy and curbed our conversation which was a pity. I think it would be better to keep diners separated from the bar
We went for a pre theatre get together. We asked for a selection of small plates and cheese boards. Service was excellent, food just what we wanted. Beautiful sunny day and you looked out over the xmas market at St Grorges Hall...lovely
Sadly didn't realise that the restaurant was upstairs and there was no disabled access.
This would be the only thing stopping us returning.
Hi David, just to let you know that although we don't have a lift to the upper floor (the difficulties of it being an old building) you can let us know when booking that a member of your party is disabled and will not be able to use the stairs we can cater for your party downstairs. Hopefully we'll see you again soon! ^Aisling
Really enjoyed the food, however we thought the music was too loud, background music is fine but on this occasion it needed to be turned down.
First time but won’t be our last had the salmon and my god it was Devine xx
I would recommend for pre show drinks. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend the food. Although the service of staff was friendly, polite and helpful. The menu and presentation of the food needs some attention paying to, as the price of the food didn’t reflect this.
This was our first time dining at the Courtyard Bar & Kitchen and we were not disappointed. Its close proximity to the Royal Court Theatre made it an ideal choice for our party of three as we were attending the theatre after eating.
As we had booked our table for 6:30, we arrived suitably early and were able to enjoy drinks in the bar first. The only downside, if there was one, would be if anyone in our party had been disabled as there did not appear to be a lift to the upper floor. Fortunately, our small group were all mobile.
We were shown speedily to our table and the waitress was very attentive.
We chosen three different starters and main courses and were pleased with all of our selections. Although I am a 'carnivore', I selected the vegan Christmas dinner. I was delighted by my choice...my only criticism would be that it was too large! That being said, I managed to finished it off!
Although I only visit Liverpool once a year, my next visit to the Courtyard will not be for several months, but, like Arnie, I shall definitely return.
great service and good value , just a pity about the hair in the dessert which was addressed by our very helpful server
The food was absolutely amazing. Tasted beautiful presentation was outstanding. Such good value.
I've never been before ..so my first experience was really good . Atmosphere was great and I loved my Xmas dinner. The staff very attentive, friendly and helpful . Will definitely be returning . The views were exceptional . Lovely experience before our panto next door . Thank you .
We really enjoyed our Courtyard Experience. The service was excellent and the variety of food available was great. The three course meals that our group ordered were well presented and of exceptional quality. We strongly recommend you try the Courtyard Experience.
Lovely venue for a meal before a visit to St George's Concert hall.
Fabulous view, lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, food was really nice and good value
Good service good food good value what more is there to say?! One thing the waitress really knew the dishes and her explanation of the dishes made you want to order them
We’ll be back for sure
My husband & I are frequent visitors to the royal court shows this was the first time we have tried the court yard we were going to a show at the playhouse with my brother & his wife . All 4 of u had a enjoyable meal
Staff were very friendly, food was good ,would definitely visit again
I had a good meal with friendly staff waiting on.Prices are reasonable for the pre theatre menu.
Excellent service the girls were so attentive and nothing was to much trouble . Food and menu were both very good and value for money . Highly recommend
Katsu chicken overcooked. Dry and tough. Starters excellent, mackerel particularly. Service slow
We were greeted promptly & cheerfully. The menu was explained & appropriate time given to make our choices. Menu is varied & interesting and the food is always good & beautifully presented.
Had a lovely meal post theatre matinee, food and service were brilliant. Only small criticism was it was a little cold in the restaurant. We did ask if the heat could be adjusted and the waitress said of course but it didn't seem to get any better. Still had a lovely evening though.
Delicious food, friendly staff, great location. We will tell our friends and we will return. Superb
The food was overcooked and then waiters long time for the replacement meal
Very nice food served quickly. We were having a pre-theatre meal and were a bit pushed for time. Couldn't fault the service and the view was phenomenal :)
Absolute rubbish very disappointed service and food have used this place on many occasions and took friends there as Its always been ok but not this time very disappointed .
Excellent service from our waitress and very good food. We were running over 30 mins late due to terrible traffic but I rang ahead and they held our table for us. When we got there we only had 40 minutes before we had to leave for a show at the Empire so the waitress put our mains order in first so it would all come out at the same. Very positive experience and will definitely go back.
Menu limited to about 6 main dishes and 3 desserts, but, apart from that, no complaints.
Really enjoyed our meal at the courtyard. Excellent service and excellent value, thank you x
Lovely staff, they wanted you to have a good time.
Staff and service excellent menu a little limited but the fish and chips were a delight some of the lightest battered fish I have had.
My friend and I enjoyed our meal here, 6pm on a Saturday. Restaurant was busy but not uncomfortably so, we had a table for 2 next to the window and it was very pleasant. Food was nice, we had 3 courses and it was fine for us as 2 women however I wonder if the portion sizes would have been big enough to satisfy my husband..
The courtyard was recommended to us and we were glad that we went. Very central and great for the station.
Nice food, good value for money with prompt service. Friendly staff and an interesting view!
I have been eating at The Courtyard since it opened and it’s always been my restaurant of first choice when going to the theatre but, unfortunately, I’m having a rethink. We had the pre theatre set menu on Friday and, although it appeared to good value for money, several of the dishes were not particularly appetising. The fish dish was good and enjoyed by my friend but the chicken kiev and katsu chicken curry were disappointing and not as expected. We had the harvest cake and mousse for desert and again were disappointed by the taste and texture, although the appearance of both dishes was good. All our drinks tasted good and were of good value. We didn’t complain because there was nothing wrong with the food it just wasn’t up to the usual standard. I think that this is yet another new menu but it is definitely not an improvement on the original menu. I would be reluctant to bring visitors to The Courtyard at the moment until there is a rethink. Very sad to have to write this unsupportive review. Sorry.
Service was Outstanding!!! Soup was too heavy peepers rock hard!! The noodles was far too salty the noodles was drowned in soy sauce ( inedible)!!! cheese board massive blocks of cheese not enough crackers 😔I was so disappointed but you don’t know if you don’t try but I won’t be going back in a hurry👎sorry 😐
Lovely no fuss meals.. good value for money food and drink wise..nice and modern
My friend and I had a meal there prior to going to The Royal Court Theatre next door, so we chose off the pre-theatre menu. Last time I went I had the fish and chips and to be truthful, I found the menu a bit limited, so had fish and chips again. My friend had them this time too and she was disappointed with hers as she thought the batter was soggy. Mine was lovely. It was busier this time too and we found that if we wanted anything we had to really make the staff notice us, so the service wasn't quite as we expected. To be honest, when we go to the theatre again we may go to another restaurant due to the lack of choice on that particular menu.
