Cowgirl Seahorse is a fusion of Tex-Mex and seafood in South Street Seaport, New York City. Sea horses, beach shovels, sand pails and anchors hang on the walls and ceilings next to saddles, cowboy hats and cowboy boots. The mix of these two separate themes creates a uniquely quirky atmosphere that's enjoyable for guests who want to experience something different from the usual.
The menu at Cowgirl Seahorse has a variety of different options, varying from seafood meals to Tex-Mex dishes. Some of the popular options include the taco Tuesday deals, shredded cheese enchiladas, bayside burritos and the blackened white fish dinner. Margaritas, classic cocktails, beers and wines are all offered on the beverage menu at Cowgirl Seahorse bar. Guests can also enjoy small plates of appetizers and snacks with their drinks.
Even in the craziest time of July 4th they were helpful and service was excellent!
We asked for an outside table that everyone walking requested but they made sure we had first choice.
The food was great, awesome Strawberry margaritas!
We will return. Be sure to try the baked potato ice cream.
A really friendly personell. Food more then enough. Perhaps, a little bit slow service. Frendly atmosphere. Good margarithas. I suggest to go there if you like Mexican type food.
Great local bar/restaurant. Friendly staff.
Good food. Great prices. Family friendly.
This place is always a favorite of mine! Always a nice, busy atmosphere. The margaritas are great and the staff is super friendly!
Host was nasty, and stressed. manager was nice and friendly.
The waitress didn't know the menu, which meant she couldn't answer questions. When we ordered a glass of fresh orange juice she made sure to let us know that it was $7 per glass. We never asked the price so I found this to be unnecessary and rude. The prices were on the menu.
The food was very mediocre at best. I ordered what was supposed to be their baked eggs special with veggie chili. It was not baked eggs. The eggs were cooked like a frittata and all the ingredients were inside. Everyone else also stated their food was underwhelming.
I ordered a Bloody Maria. It came with vodka not tequila. It was remade but the flavor was bland. I asked for Tabasco and fresh pepper to spice it up and was told they had neither. My niece ordered their Mojito. It was lime juice and rum in a glass over ice. The mint was a garnish and the limes as well. Not muddled into the drink then shaken with ice and sugar as a Mojito should be.
We had asked the check to be split but I was informed that she couldn't split the check because that would take an extra 5 minutes and she was too busy to do that.
When we get the check they had put and extra side of bacon on the check and charged us $9 for a glass of fresh OJ instead of $7. The price the waitress made a point to tell us, it was, at the beginning of our meal. When we inform the manager of the mistakes, the waitress comes over to us to say that she never said the price was $9, only that it was very expensive.
The manager couldn't figure out how to remove the items so he just handed the cash back to us for the items that weren't supposed to be on the check.
Overall everything was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Do not order the ribs. The overall ambiance was good and it was very unique compared to other restaurants.
This place has a ton of personality and warmth. Super fun and lively environment great for a social group of friends or if you need a pick-me-up! Friendly, down-to-earth service. Food that tastes great and is pretty reasonable in cost!
Younger crowd, with a sea fairing decir. Good service. I enjoy what I ordered. Slider, sampler appitizer, chicken burrito
Loved everything about it. The decor fit the name, quaint and rustic. The food was fresh and hot. I got quesadilla with black beans and ground beef, excellent. We as a family highly recommend Cowgirl Seahorse
We love this Place. Fantastic food. Great service. So much fun too!
Was disappointed that we were sat in the back where it was difficult to see/hear the Blake Deadly show.
Food was awful and service was one of the worst we’ve ever had. Eat and drink elsewhere.
Birthday in the family
Went there with my 4 year old daughter for early dinner at 5pm. Great ambience, kid friendly. Would definitely visit again.
Laid-back, fun tex-mex restaurant with lots of good choices. The desserts are all great (everyone at the table tried something different and we agreed all were yummy!)
I had the chicken tacos and they were amazing! Great, quirky little place!!
Taco Tuesdays are a must - yummy and amazing value!!
I really love this place. Its kid friendly, great margaritas. I especially love oyster Wednesdays their Parmesan crusted oysters are delish. My favorite thing on the menu is their Chimayo Chicken nachos with no beans and I add blue cheese. Love, Love, Love!!
Great Customer service as well!
We made reservations thinking we needed to and it would be bustling (based on reviews). We were the only ones in the restaurant. It was a Friday and being that the place was empty, we thought the staff would be glad to have us/business. Didn’t feel that way- we did our best to engage the server, but got one word replies. The bartender, who may be the owner/manager became a bit more engaged when we made the effort to be friendly and found out he used to live in CA where we live. If the place had been busy, maybe the lack of welcome and friendly staff wouldn’t have been quite as obvious, but being the only three in the place with a little conversation like pulling teeth, it was a let down - We’d come down from mid-town especially to give this place a try. Food was fine, but not outstanding or enough to outshine the lack of welcome.
The restaurant had no record of our reservation but seated us anyway. They had two servers covering the entire restaurant and after closing our menus, we sat without a single server waiting on us for about 20 minutes before we just got up and left. Never going back here again.
Decor was eclectic, just like the menu. Fun atmosphere. I loved the chicken fried chicken. A word of caution, the peppers in the chicken fajitas are hot, my neice wasn't prepared for the heat level...luckily, it wasn't throughout the whole dish and she could eat most of it
Service overly surly, even for NYC! Come on, we're locals - be a bit nicer to us!
We love Cowgirl
Great place that feels a little dive-y in a good way. Super casual and fun with great food for the price
Long weekend in NYC - great to be somewhere which feels like a place for locals, or at least people who work locally, rather than somewhere on a tourist route. Came down here for the 'Manhattan' view of Brooklyn Bridge (which is now cordonned off by cars, sadly). My teenage son enjoyed the great atmosphere and I enjoyed the great margaritas. Friendly laid back staff. Will recommend and hopefully go back when I'm next in town.
We loved everything about Cowgirl Sea Horse and even wanted a t-shirt! Brilliant, fun decor, great service, marvellous margaritas, draft dark ales and delicious food. The kids menu was a total hit with a 6 and 10 year old who love their food. They both loved the Shark Attack drink.
The chopped salad was fresh, delicious and enormous. The taco trio with blackened fish was perfect.
It was just what we were looking for and another perfect New York hit.
Frozen margs are always fab. Food is nothing special but completely inoffensive. Chill and dependable bar food option for the area.
Slow slow service . Food lukewarm at best.
Waiter never came back to table to see if anything was even needed. Long wait for food.
This was our first visit to Cowgirl Seahorse and we loved it. We picked it b/c of the proximity to Pier 17, where we were going to a concert after. The vibe is fun, albeit a bit loud. The food is a great mix of Southern and Mexican food and the drinks are very good. The service sometimes gets distracted, although it is clear they mean well. We will for sure be going back again.
Pulled pork nachos were amazing
Funky little dive bar with very good Tex-Mex food
Brunch Becomes Her was SO fun! Thanks Blake Deadly!
Overall our experience was excellent. Food and drinks were fresh, inventive, delicious, and fairly priced. Ambiance was amazing and the staff was accommodating and cheerful. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is that two people in our party got splashed with coffee when a staff member dropped a mug, and was never offered an apology or asked if they were okay. Fortunately everyone was fine, but the lack of even rudimentary apology was unacceptable. I will be back because everything else was off the charts.
Had the shrimp (blackened) tacos. Also the shrimp (blackened) fajita. Overall, I'd like to say that the service was very good. The servers were very attentive and friendly. But while the food was fresh, we found the taste to be a bit bland even when we opted for the blackened shrimp. The location is close to the ipic movie theater in south street seaport, so it's a convenient and short walk to grab a drink and a snack. I'd try it again, with a different dish. Also, I had a pulsd coupon so it was a good deal.
If I could give it zero stars, I would. Overpriced food, tiny portions, wait staff horrible (except for the woman). They blamed it on being too busy on taco tuesday. Hostess took our dessert order (waiter never came back) and never put it in to the kitchen. Fail!!!!
This is a very eclectic bar/restaurant with great service and delish food. It is not a "touristy" place which was awesome because it gives you the true feeling of being in NYC. Highly recommend.
Oyster Wednesday is my favorite !! Parmesan crusted oysters are the best. I love the atmosphere and I can have a drink and also have my children with me to enjoy as well.
We were there for a quick trip into the city and needed a reservation for 6 people. Open Table helped us make a quick/easy reservation and our table was ready for us when we showed up. We all enjoyed our food and the kids loved the shark themed drinks and kids menu. Good service and good food make for a good night. My only complaint would that service was a little slow (2 hours for our meal without appetizers) and it seemed a little pricey for the casual atmosphere, but these are minor nit picky comments in relation to our overall experience.
We went here for brunch during the NY Water Festival. This is such a cool little place. Love the Texas style breakfast options! Since we went in the morning, it was nice and quiet. Service was good, looks like you need reservations for brunch though, but it didn't get crowded until after 12 noon. The bar area and wall deco look funky and cool. Definitely want to come back in the evening to experience the bar crowd.
