Too expensive for very simple food
The food was simple
NOT RECOMMENDED: Delicious food, buzzy atmosphere. However expect to pay over £100 for a bottle of red. Plus, we had to ask THREE TIMES for the drinks we had ordered, which only arrived after out starters appeared. The first waitress we asked didnt even bother coming back to us and was more interested in photographing herself with a colleague ... just unbelievable! The food arrives tapas style, ie as and when it's cooked, so our two main course dishes did not appear together, and turned up after the side dishes. £164 for starters, mains & sides, one dessert and two drinks. Despite the food tasting delicious the overall experience was really poor.
Amazing food and service!
I had high expectations for the food and am glad to say it met them. However, I was annoyed at being hurried off the table, though I do appreciate the booking was clear about a 2 hour slot for the number of people we were. We ordered the tasting menu with wine paring which is not a cheap affair so I think more time should be allowed. Otherwise, its a lively atmosphere and we enjoyed it.
Confused and confusing place with some ok food but not special enough for the hype and very overpriced.
We booked a table online and received a text and three phone calls on the day requesting confirmation. The place is in the basement with dimmed lights, dark wood and semi-open kitchen. The atmosphere could have been cosy and intimate but is instead completely spoilt by very loud music and noise from the tables and open service area. The waiter gave us a run through the menu and recommended a number of dishes. We ordered yellow fin tuna sashimi, Cornish crab tacos and the much recommended corn salad for starters to share. The portions were tiny. Taste-wise tuna was the winner, although we couldn't see how five slivers of fish the size of a 50p coin and some pickled cucumber can justify £14 price tag. Crab tacos were pleasant and creamy but the much recommended corn salad was just meh. For mains we had lamb chops with crispy potatoes side, chilean seabass with broccoli and wild mushrooms and truffles pot with aubergines. The mushroom and truffle pot was tasty enough creamy mush but didn't go with Japanese influenced aubergines recommended to us. The three lamb chops were possibly the smallest I've seen and not prepared well so rather chewy and lacking in flavour. The potatoes were tasty and spicy but ultimately just patatas bravas. The loser of the night was the chilean seabass. The marinade on a beautiful piece of fish was too salty, with a bitter aftertaste, so we could finish just half of the dish. The waiter inquired about the fish when clearing the plates and we explained the problem. The response was that that's just how he liked it. Good for him but he was not the paying customer that night. Once our plates were cleared we were left awith no further attention from the staff and had to wait nearly 10mins until the waiter returned with the bill of c £150 (we had no drinks, just tap water and no desert). Don't think we will be coming back any time soon.
I have booked a table for lunch for our fourth anniversary. It was a very special occasion to us as we very rarely get the chance with my wife to go out or spend time just the two of us. When we arrived a nice guy welcomed us upstairs and told us to go to downstairs reception where we are going to be seated. There was nobody at the hostess desk but a manager looking person walked past us and sat down by the bar. Not only one member of the staff looked at us many times for all the (seemed long) time while we were waiting there still nobody came to help us until I had to go and ask this person, who previously walked past us , if anybody works there at all. Then he left and the hostess came who without asking for my name or at all for the fact if we have a booking, showed us to our table. At this point I knew it was unneccessary to mention our anniversary in my booking... luckily our waitress was nice enough not to ruin our lunch completely. Though we could see there was some confusion in the service at the table next to ours. Food was amazing, honestly very good. But unfortunately this very poor service made us leave disappointed.
The food was very good, and the express Lunchtime offer was certainly great value for money. However the only thing Express about the lunch menu was the name..the service definitely was not.
3 out of the 4 starters arrived fairly quickly however the 4th starter (tacos) took over 15 minutes after the first batch, the waitress had explainef that the tacos took some extra preparation which caused the delay (However there were a number of tables waiting on food and the real cause was probably down to the lack of kitchen staff on the day)
All in all I would recommend COYA for the food but just dont go there if you are in hurry to get anywhere else afterwards
We went for a date night/birthday celebration on a Wednesday night, there was a short wait for the table so we ordered a cocktail at the bar and was seated before it arrived.
The menu could have been explained better, we had to re-order more food as the portions were smaller than expected but they came very quickly so wasn't a problem and possibly worked out better as we could order the dishes we liked best (which was all of them!).
The food was incredible, hard to pick a favourite but possibly the crab tacos.
The waiter attempted to remember the order rather than write it down (never understand why they try and do this) but came back quickly as he forgot it.
Only critique about the food would be to include more filling in the pulled pork bao bun as it was so delicious but more bun than meat and the sides came quite late in the meal, would have been better to have with the dishes.
When the bill came, 2 extra cocktails were added so glad I checked it, they removed these but it took a while to actually pay the bill and leave.
Would definitely go back and recommend, just be ready for a large bill as you will need to order a lot of dishes.
Basic to average food at a very high price. Weak and overpriced open wine list. The restaurant is for those who fancy loud ambiance, where you need to raise your voice in order for the other to understand you and vice versa. Should I get invited with no option to escape, I would go for the tasting menu. I felt rushed through the meal with no chance to relax. It doesn't say on 'opentable' but seating is for 2 hours only. I would not recommend this establishment.
Great food, excellent cerviche. Nice wine selection by the glass. Good buzzy atmosphere
Superb meal with fantastic service
Absolutely flippin’ deliscious! You’re gonna need bank though, but worth every penny!
Amazing food: all executed to perfection.
Impeccable service, highly recommended
Fantastic value lunch menu would definitely recommend the place as it is my favourite in London
It was great
Excellent service, cocktails, food and wine. Would definitely recommend for special occasions
We had drinks prior the dinner in the bar and the service wasn’t great. They kept asking about opening a tab or paying immediately although I have asked to wait until my friend was there and then to decide but they weren’t amused with that request and quite annoying asking 2
The food and service in the restaurant was pretty good.
Always great place to eat out the original excellent Peruvian food that Viya offers.
We love Coya. What else is there to say - except the Chilean sea bass iron pot is a must try.....
Exquisite food with an unparalleled taste of spices. Try the fish risotto!
I haven't been been for three years, but it's still as good as I remember. I go here every time I'm in the country. Without doubt one of the best restaurants in town.
I liked the sea bass risotto
The food was excellent, we had the tasting menu and that is definitely a winner. The service was fantastic, everyone was extremely attentive and made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. They also have us space, the balance was right on the money.
Ambience at the restaurant was very good. Busy but did not feel crowded. An excellent meal in a really nice restaurant
Tasting menu delivers for first timer Peruvian flavors. Staff was delightful and ambiance on point, makes you feel you’re in South America. Wish they offer wine pairings!
Still good Peruvian fusion food with a neat bar scene and great Pisco Sours. Fun place to drink and eat - maiz salad a must!
We were constantly interrupted by the staff and couldn’t even have a conversation. They were trying to clear our plates before we were finished and 30 minutes before we were required to relinquish our table.
It was very bad experience, they didn't respect the time and we were waiting our table more than 30 minuets our reservation was at 10:45 and we got our table at 11:30
One of the best 💙
My second time there. Trendy place, nice cocktails ,spicy but tasty food, expensive but worthed it.
It was my fifth visit to the restaurant, but first in this year. And it was splendid.
The food was remarkably good, service very friendly and attentive.Desserts were above
expectations.We really had wonderful time.
The food is great but it’s very expensive and good luck to find wine with 2-digits on the menu
Perfect restaurant one of my best
Really i enjoyed my time there
Food , service,... everything 100%
Absolutely mamazing food the ceviche was to die for. Friendly lovely staff too. Artwork and decor was fabulous.
Great food with an awesome atmosphere. Must try for anyone in London!
Excellent food but the restaurant is too noisy. You cant hear your friends talking.
One of my favourite restaurants in London. Amazing food, fabulous service, awesome atmosphere!
Service was a bit on the slow side. Food was average. Did not get served rice with meal as stated on menu. When questioned, the waitress swiftly said it was 0£ and shut the discussion quickly. Disappointing lunch experience
Absolutely loved this place, as it was our first time we were recommended to have the tasting menu and it was all spot on and we left feeling well fed and satisfied. Wine was a bit over priced for the selection that we ordered but hey ho, isn’t that usually the deal anyway. We had live music in the private dining area and the singer was ace, very enthusiastic and Interactive with the diners. Will def book again for our next wedding anniversary
