I booked this restaurant for a special birthday occasion because I had a wonderful experience when I was in town last May.
Tonight was the opposite, I was embarrassed! The waitress was snippy, she got annoyed when we didn’t order her suggestion (the most expensive ones, of course) or the tasting menu. On several occasions, our plates were taken away as we were eating, they took away halfway drunk cocktails and then wanted us to order and pay for new ones, and the waitstaff kept banging into us.
Food was bland and the meat was tough and fatty.
I was shocked!!
Dinner with Friends
Great food as usual - special mention for arroz nikkei
Desserts are amazing - keep some space for Churros and fondant
We have visited COYA many times and always had a great meal. However, the last couple of times there has been an embarrassingly noticeable increase in how hard and fast the two hour dining rule is pushed - members of staff coming to the table to remind us, several times, the food being rushed out at us and yet we have to ask a number of times for a bottle of water, and, of course, the bill appears within seconds of asking. In short, this is no longer a relaxing dining experience. I appreciate that London is a busy city and it’s all about turnover, but it’s also all about the customer. The customer works hard all week and wants to come out with their friends on a Saturday night to relax, enjoy good food at an enjoyable pace, and not be made to feel naughty for asking for a last dish or even water because it’s cutting into the restaurant’s time. We brought friends who had never been last night. They loved the food but the service and attitude were so embarrassing I don’t think they’ll return or bring any friends.
In short, COYA, you were once doing something very right. The balance of the scales is tipping, in my view and I won’t be returning in a hurry.
Good food, great for a date. Can be on the pricey side of London, but it is located in Mayfair, so there you go.
We were seated with only a food menu, we had to ask twice for a drinks menu after sitting for ten minutes, when we ordered a wine and an Aperol Spritz, the spritz turned up flat and we had to ask for it to be replaced, when the second arrived it was very small and served in a standard wine glass rather than a standard bowl glass.
The food was very flavoursome however the Chicken kebab was only just cooked and very pink.
We felt that the service charge of 13.5% was rather presumptuous.
Very disappointing .
The food was delicious and the place was amazing, but the staff were pushing way too much to make us consume which is quite annoying
Excellent variety of delicate, playful dishes. Would certainly recommend.
As usual perfect in everything
Great venue and food with excellent service. The downside was the loud music making conversation very difficult.
Coya continues to be a favourite. It does not disappoint. Fabulous food in terms of taste, quality and presentation. My guest had not been before and absolutely loved it. Lively atmosphere so can be a little noisy latter in the evening.
Overall a great experience, great menu, the quality of all our dishes was outstanding. Spicy beef main dish of particular note. Sadly we had to ask about the whereabouts of one of our starters 3 times and it only arrived, only just warm, at the same time as our main courses so we didn't really need it by then. Also, while they were very kind to make up a little plate saying Happy Birthday on it and including two (small) delicious cookies, I did object to finding £5 added to the bill - to be fair they took it off the bill without hesitation but only because I noticed it and felt it was inappropriate. I don't expect that kind of skullduggery when you're paying over £200 for lunch for two. Naughty! I recommend it, but check your bill at the end!!!
The dishes were pretty tasteless. Not worth 200 pound dinner. And service was ok, they rushed everything.
We were very sorry to leave when our time slot came to an end and the table was needed for new guests. We could’ve stayed for another glass of wine.
Great ambiance, unfortunately we were rushed to eat.. courses came out to fast like they wanted us to finish the meal very fast. Our server was unpleasant, basically trying to tell us eaxactly what to order with out listening to what we actually like eating.
It is very pity that for a relatively expensive restaurant we had that experience
Great ceviches and sashimi!!! Great food!! Definitely will come back for more
Saturday brunch, £75: Such an experience and lovely, fresh, yummy food! Loved the all-you-can-drink-cocktails!! Bring earplugs though the music escalated and escalated and by dessert, no-one could talk anymore, just nod and try to semi-smile, while eating due to ridiculously, not kidding, high sound levels. We had to leave the dining room with dessert on a plate and hide in the bar due to this. And no - I'm not that old and grey. And yes - I have/had? normal hearing. :)
Brought our friends for the first time. One of them a vegan!! They thought it was all fantastic
I used to love this place and I confess I’ve never been for lunch. But the food was not even remotely as good as I remember and worst of all was the extremely rushed (constantly interrupting us!!!) service!!! I appreciate they want to turn the tables a couple of times but actually the restaurant was half empty so absolutely no need to annoy and harass your diners! I certainly don’t recommend. Not awful but mediocre food and much worse than average service.
The waitress (from Italy) was really sweet and friendly. The music was too loud (I will never understand why it has to be so loud in restaurants these days....I have yet to meet somebody who likes it this way!). The interior is already a bit tired, and if you are used to Coya Dubai, the quality of the food has difficulties to compete....but still, we spent a pleasant evening.
Lovely lunch - excellent value menu and the food was fantastic. A great combination of Peruvian flavours. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, very happy
Great Place/Concept with very good service. You should try to include some Greek Wines (White, Red) in your wine list.
Eat here! Loved every single bite. The tasting menu was a great choice!
Great atmosphere - arrived at 10-45 post west end - reservation a must - really busy - food was great and flavours were really authentic -
Enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant ..only slight downer was that whilst the music was good in the bar area it was too loud for you to have a conversation with a group of people ..so be aware - all depends on what you want .
Four of us dined on Saturday night and we chose the tasting menu. We loved absolutely everything about the evening; the food was simply divine, the service was second to none, the ambience was great.
We all agreed we had a super night and would absolutely return again soon - we loved it.
I had read previous reviews of the sound level being on the loud side, it wasn’t actually that bad at all - we could all have a conversation easily enough and hear each other.
Also, with reference to getting kicked off your table at the end of your 2 hours, I’m not sure you need longer as the device is so efficient and you get plenty of time to eat.
My husband and I went to Coya for this first time on Saturday night, I booked the table as a Birthday surprise for him. We were seated quickly, and the restaurant was extremely busy which made for a great atmosphere. Our waitress was extremely helpful and explained the menu well, and our food arrived quickly, but we didn't feel rushed. We tried a variety of starters and opted for the two recommended specials for our mains - the Spicy beef and Chilean sea bass - both were excellent.
I had advised the restaurant it was my husbands Birthday so he got a special dessert complete with Birthday candle, a nice touch.
Coya is expensive (and the appetiser portions are all small, but all so good, so it's easy to order a lot!) but the food and service are excellent quality and we'll definitely be back!
We went for an early dinner on Halloween with our three kids (5,7 &9yrs) and we all agreed - it was the meal of our lives! We will remember this delicious evening forever. The staff was fun, friendly and outstanding and the food was beyond our expectations.
Absolutely brilliant place; some of the best cevice in London and great service
We book our table for 8:30 and we were 6 of us. Leading to the date I had to call 3 times to make sure they have my reservation .... We tried this restaurant the first time as we thought the food supposed to be amazing and it was lovely but no worth what we paid!
The staff serving couldn’t explain us properly the dishes and it was all a hurry! The service and management wasn’t good at all! Isn’t a good value for money and considering how much we spent dining and drinking there we were treated like a fast food chain restaurant! Money makers giving us 2 hours slots!
It was embarrassing...we were told to leave our table as soon as we finish deserts.... no time to order coffees etc / it was my husband’s birthday and my friend was disable!
The bar was too loud, nowhere to sit and even she has to be left standing there till our taxi came....
The management was just interested in filling up his tables!
I will not be in a hurry to return at all and if you are planning on dining there.... eat fast!!!
It's was an amazing food experience, the vibe and the service was top as well!
Absolutly the Best restaurant!
Best food and best atmosphere
A MUST go, the ceviche is to die for
Used to be the place to eat and enjoy peruvian food ! Service is now bad and the food seems to become average. It’s a pitty, it used to be one of my fabourites restaurants in London when I discover this chain in Dubai Four Seasons Hotel. Now it is simply a money maker without the good food from the beginning.
Everything was perfect except the service ( love the food and the mocktails)
Celebrated a birthday. Lovely setting and ambience, attentive staff and beautifully presented fresh and flavoursome dishes. Was a little pricey.. £40 for a small main course. DJ in the bar. Toilets inadequate for size of the restaurant. Would go back.. Peruvian food is so amazing.. Zingy flavours, light and fresh.
Overpriced. Ceviche was average. Crispy potatoes had no presentation, and the fish was mediocre. And what does one do with 5 huge churros 😕
The best brunch in London.
The food is amazing - the small plates are packed with delightful mouthwatering flavours! Lots of variety for seafood foodies. The only downside is the 2 hour time limit, we could’ve stayed and eaten more it was so good. Fantastic service!
Very good venue for lunch or dinner - however pricing particularly on Drinks is exorbitant.
