Was so suprised at the variety of menus that were on offer, as well as the large selection of dishes! Quality of food was amazing, as was the staff and atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
booked into the cranside winter village for new years eve. originally booked seats in one of their igloos only to be advised that the outdoor heaters placed in the igloos were not working and as i was booking for only two we would most likely be cold as their igloos were not looking too busy. instead the girl over the phone booked the gondola for me as opposed to the igloos. i spoke to the same girl the day before nye and the morning of nye however when i turned up at my reservation having travelled from edinburgh via taxi i was informed at the door we now could no longer eat in the gondola as their internal rules had changed and we were instead offered to eat on heated picnic benches. the girl who greeted me at the door and made me aware of this was ironically the same girl i had spoke with in regards to my booking each time i had called in. she made an excuse for not advising me of this due to the timing of the change. However she had no issue calling the day before on dec 30th alerting me to the fact that the nye party tickets were on sale and again on the morning of the 31st when i called back to purchase these tickets would have been an ideal time to advise me of the changes regarding my booking. as a result i left and went somewhere else for dinner and id dnot return for the party despite having bought tickets. this place ruined my new years eve
Enjoyed our afternoon with s few drinks and some great food
The gondolas are fab! Great space for friends to relax together. The new prawn feta tempura was incredible as well. Had a great time, will definitely be back!
Christmas Day out
Great outdoor seating, staff really nice, especially the folk on the front door. Hard to believe that we were outside as it’s so warm with the heaters above the tables. Drink is quite expensive plus a service charge on each order, based on the cost. Not sure that if that is necessary, feels like you are paying for the outdoor space. I’d be interested to know if you get a service charge inside. Having said that, great place, staff and food and if you are worried about Covid, outdoors may suit you better.
The ordering system is a bit of a pain! Some drinks orders were muddled. We expected the pods but were let down. Nothing personal about the experience. Some of our groups food orders were very bland. Although I did get a free bottle opener From one of the guys waiting on our table. So that was not bad.
Everything was great except 2 chicken dishes we ordered. Chicken was dry, inedible and overcooke. Everything else was great, can’t fault.
Food was great. The winter village was disappointing. There was no festive buzz about it at all. The tents were leaking, the heaters not powerful enough so it’s really cold to sit for a while. The music was a bit too loud and not a single Christmas song. It just felt like a standard beer garden which isn’t what you want in a cold wet December.
Very good atmosphere, food was fast and very delicious food, staff were brilliant and very helpful
Staff kept removing food and drinks before finished felt like they were wanting us to keep ordering
Overall ok but staff pretty fed up looking and almost rude. Adding an auto tip for bringing drinks to a table, which we ordered ourselves through the faff of an app, is not on. Place was quiet but took 15 mins for drinks to arrive. Only saying recommend as it’s a nice location.
Not what it was made out to be. Lacklustre and devoid of atmosphere. Greasy spoon smelling. Staff seemed to be directionless and also served wearing gloves that were grubby. Not very covid friendly! Overall very disappointing wouldn't waste time going.
Very disappointed, cold, not a winter village, price, servicing yourself
Great festive atmosphere outside, felt nice and warm under the heaters despite the cold temperatures. Good music and liked the christmas decor. Service was good and a nice range of drinks. My only problem was the toilets were in poor condition 3 of the ladies toilets all had broken locks
Absolute 11/10! Best music, best atmosphere, loveliest staff! And doggos in Christmas jumpers! Amazing.
Really disappointed at the “winter village” that we thought we were going to. No Christmas music, felt more like a club with some fairy lights and a Christmas tree in the corner. Food and service was average but for a premium price.
Great service, first time impression excellent, lovely decor and surroundings and professional, amiable staff.
Spanikopia was truly delicious and the staff are superb. The outdoor area is really good too.
The Cranside was nice although the mojito cocktails were awful, they were tasteless and basically just like a cup of ice.
Not all heaters were working, so it was cold. Food was cold before it got to the table. Drinks, in plastic or paper, were rather expensive.
Good idea but not carried out very well.
Had a brilliant time. Brought our 2 puppies with us. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was served quickly and was delicious. Atmosphere was lovely and festive. Can’t wait to return!
Was warm and festively decorated. Service was good and had a nice selection of drinks.
Service was great once we got there (impossible to contact anyone on the phone!) Took 20 mins for a glass of wine at one point but the rest was good. Moved us table as we were freezing with a broken heater, thanks.
Food is amazing. Christmas theme is jolly.
Yes was very nice food lovely too, disappointed in the toilets especially with what’s going on at the moment should be getting cleaned regularly
It is just an outdoor area with some winter decorations, calling it a winter village is definitely a stretch.
Several of the restaurants were not available on the menu and I did not see mention of this anywhere on the website. E.g Romano’s, fino and kilmurray
I booked this thinking it was for the igloos , but we were shown to an outdoor picnic bench!
You order everything through the online menu, the food and drinks arrived very fast. I had Pad Thai, it was delicious.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful .
I have visited the cranside kitchen previous with no issues, the food and service were both outstanding. Unfortunately our visit on the 5/12 was not pleasant, the food was awful, I ordered pasta which was hard, chewy and was overpowered by garlic. This was sent back and I received a replacement which was the same. The service was poor, we were seated under a table with no heating, I asked to either be moved or have a blanket, I was told I could have a blanket but the staff member never appeared back. I will never return to this place.
Great evening, make sure your phone has plenty of charge as that’s required to order (mine had run out of charge after a days shopping in Glasgow ) food and drinks all excellent. Will defo be back
So first they couldn't find a booking for us despite me phoning to confirm it. My friend and I ordered Cadbury hot chocolate and yet what we got was cocoa powder and water...disgusting. They did replace it with 2 Cadburys hot chocolate when I asked about it but why not give us what we paid for in the first place. Also desserts took around 30 mins. Main dishes were good service and arrived promptly. Overall a good experience. Its my second time visiting this month and the first visit was far more enjoyable. Prices could do with going down a bit right enough. Small plates £7? Give food for thought for next year?
Came for drinks and enjoyed atmosphere. Would recommend. Food looked good as well but we never ate.
All of our food orders were cold , Table of 5 people.
Felt it was quite overpriced for what it was. Thought it would feel a lot more festive.
Food was lovely! Such a good mix of choices. Only thing we wished we could have got was the new festive options such as hot donuts which didn’t seem to be available. Atmosphere was great & heaters kept us warm.
Lively atmosphere and great food at the Cranside. If you’ve not been to the Winter Village you need to go and see for yourself. Cocktails and food were fantastic.
Absolutely super duper - two words - would go again.
Great night. Sat outside until it closed then moved indoors.
After8 Espresso Martini is probably the best I’ve had!
Great night all round thanks music was good food was great .
We booked Cranside because it was advertised as 'Winter Wonderland' so I was really disappointed that the only thing different to usual was a few Christmas trees + some lights + not even Christmas music. There were igloo pods but these could not be booked on-line at any of the the slots I looked at; even though during our sitting there was only 2 other tables in use.
The staff were a friendly. The food was really tasty + good choice of Christmas meals + good size portions. Mum had Christmas turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I had wild mushrooms with roasted chestnut linguine in a creamy sauce. I found the price of the drinks a little on the dear side.
Overall I felt disappointed as the theme did not live up to expectations
