Went here for my birthday lunch, food served by Rioja. The service was great, served informed us of need to know things within the menu. Very pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious, well presented and filling. High standards of cleaning and service. Can’t wait to return ☺️
We booked a table outside for Sat 8th August as the forecast looked good and right enough on the day it was scorching. When we got there we were told by the hostess that we were going to be sat inside as outside was fully booked... despite us having a table booked for outside. I’m not sure if this is down to letting walk ins or a flawed booking system, but either way we were already disappointed. The food was ok, the bruschetta was basically tomatoes on some Hovis store bought bread. The Pollo Milanese was quite nice though. Pretty average and overpriced overall.
First time at this new venue which was set up when Scotland started coming out of lockdown. This is a fabulous venue, food was outstanding, staff were great and would definitely recommend.
Great idea just an odd execution.
Went for brunch and although the food wasn't bad we didn't really feel we got our money's worth.
For example, although there are some interesting items on the menu simple crowd pleasers like pancakes and bacon are strangely absent.
One of us did then order a version of the pancakes from the menu but was bitterly disappointed to see two thin "crêpe" like pancakes turn up.
Resulting in them being finished 5 mins after receiving their food and essentially waiting for everyone else to be done, while wishing they'd ordered something else.
All of this at the same price point as the other items which again seemed odd.
Combining this with not much flavour in the other food items just kind of left us thinking we were sitting in this nice looking place with not much substance.
The setting and the staff are nice though, just don't think we would go back for food.
Food was excellent! The place had a really nice vibe, bustling but also cosy. Seemed to be an issue with the music system as the volume would fluctuate randomly and it got quite loud and difficult to hear conversation. Staff were SO friendly and attentive. Considering the restrictions in place, it was made to feel as normal as possible. Really enjoyed and will definitely be back!
First time visiting on Friday night and will definitely be back. Great service, great surroundings.
We opted for the Pickled Ginger menu. The food was perfect.
If you've not been, do yourself a favour and get booked in.
Service was very very slow, Food was awful, small portions (pasta) absolutely tasteless. Ordered 2 sides for my husband and I to share (fries and salad) and those were the only decent thing about the meal! Complained to the waitress and she said oh sorry you didn’t enjoy it but but here’s your bill. Would never eat her again. Poor effort.
Good variety of food, ours was delicious. All staff were very polite and helpful. Well spaced out area and the flexibility of the rain cover caters for both rainy and sunny days. Would definitely return.
Inconvenient people at the table not being able to order from different menus when not clearly stated on website this isn’t allowed! the table I was sat at was at the ‘edge’ of the overhead shelter so we were completely soaked while eating & made us leave faster than we normally would have after dinner therefore wouldn’t recommend going if it’s forecasted for rain as will get wet while eating.
Great outside space with good atmosphere. Would return.
Fab dining experience. I brought my dog and she was so welcome
We chose the Greek menu and we were extremely disappointed. The food was luke warm and very salty.
Overpriced and not great value for money. Even with the eat out to help out scheme.
Each menu is cooked in a separate kitchen so you really do have a proper experience of different styles. Hallumi was excellent, great tapas style dishes.
Had dolmades from the Greek menu and they just weren’t dolmades. They didn’t taste authentic or nice. If you’re after good Greek food I wouldn’t go here. The staff were very nice though, there was a nice outdoor area and everything was a reasonable price so maybe some of the other menus would be better.
We ordered from the Halloumi menu and the food, as always from Halloumi, was delicious. Service was good. However, the food got so cold so quickly that by the end it became inedible. The whole thing would be 10x better if they invested a little more money. Hot plates to keep the food warm when the weather isn’t great outside and heaters to keep customers warm, as per other outdoor establishments, would keep people longer which would mean more money for the company. We only had one drink each but would have stayed for more if there had been some heaters.
Food good have been a little warmer drinks a bit bigger and in nicer cups! Only complaint :-)
Booked table inside. Arrived and there was no tables inside due to refurb. Had to sit outside freezing cold.
Was told by the assistant she will have a word regarding this. Never heard from her again.
We booked for an inside seat but as the works we’re going on had to sit outside - which was understandable - however if we were told this prior we wouldn’t have attended as it was quite cold outside. We had two small plates each and a cup of tea which came to £36 and we had to ask for the eat out deal for it to be added on. I don’t think it is the value for money and personally isn’t for me.
I liked the open space available and how we were served with all the precautions with covid19. However,we did a booking for 6 people and end up all together in the same table without space between us. I felt quite insecure as I wanted to keep a social distance but was not possible. Haven't tried the food so can't give an opinion about it. Also, a shame only Perroni as a beer but makes sense under current situation.
Nice idea but this concept lets down the great restaurants it is hosting. The food isn’t the usual standard you receive in the normal restaurants but the pricing is the same. I’ve had takeaway and eaten in now and both experiences were poor. I hope the normal restaurants will resume and then my custom will return.
Food was great, however the service was poor. Booked a table online for the outdoor sitting area but was told on arrival that this was booked out weeks in advance - shouldn’t be able to book this online of the tables aren’t available. Once we got seated upstairs, we were ignored for 15 minutes before having to ask at the bar where to order food as no one had came to the table. Food came quickly and was great, but once again once we were finished and wanted to order another round of drinks, we were ignored. Eventually had to flag someone down for the bill without getting more drinks. I understand staff might still be furloughed, but there were still a number of staff floating around, and the staff that were upstairs never seemed to be busy, just ignoring us.
Great food. Efficient friendly service. Plenty of hand sanitizers. Toilets spotless. We opted fo Halloumi. Only issue was the great Scottish weather, there was a cold wind blowing around the Rotunda. So next time warmer clothes. A food warmer on the table might have helped but it was August in Glasgow we shouldn't have been surprised.
Quiet when we first arrived but got a lot busier when we were leaving. Felt all guidelines adhered to and had a very pleasant lunch
Arrived ordered drinks my boyfriend received his pint my drink never came, we asked the waitress she said would chase up, our meal then came - still no sign of drinks! We ordered from the Italian menu both pizzas were burnt the garlic bread was just toast with some oil on it and my drink never ever came.
My pasta arrived and it was inedible. Far too much oil and it did not look appetising. No one asked how the food was, but the waitress agreed to take it back when my friends complained. I was offered another meal, but I had lost my appetite.
Very expensive and food was average at best.
Difficult to get someone to take drink orders, usually had to go searching.
Service at the bar area was terrible, female bar tender was extremely rude & service was so slow, had to remind bar staff constantly that we were waiting on drinks & considering the place wasn't busy, we couldn't understand what was taking so long.
The food was good and the service was quick although we weren’t really sure who was our server so took a while to ask for the bill etc. The cocktail that we had was very unappealing (blueberry cocktail) brownish colour and I could tell a lot of other people who ordered it weren’t really that impressed for a £7/8 cocktail and a pint was £6ish..
Other than that would recommend
I have to say this was better than I expected, the food was great, the drink were lush and overall I would definitely be back. The only one negative thing was that you can only order from one restaurant which was a bit of a let down as we wanted to try a few things....however it did not ruin our experience as the food was outstanding and we defo made a good choice with what we ordered.
The service was amazing. Wasn't sure what to expect as i'd seen mixed reviews from the beginning but things have aobviously dramatically improved. Server was so friendly & very attentative, we never had to look for anyone to catch their attention to ask for drinks. Wouldn't hesistate to go back & try a different menau next time as i'd gone for Italian but got food envy when I saw what others were having. Great set up, well done.
An enjoyable two hours at the Cranside Kitchen. Food nd drink very good.
Amazing as always great food drinks and service!!
Safe, number of people well managed. Nice food.
Second time at cranside great service & food is amazing will definitely be back!
Got seated inside which was ok as they gave us booth. We selected Greek menu very nice, bottle of cava over priced asked for some chambord again over priced £8 waitress knocked over drinks it went over my friend we had to clean table napkins and antibacterial wipes.
Halloumi food was amazing as always. We were seated promptly even though early, but service was a bit slow. My aperol spritz was also terrible - totally tasteless and a waste of money, the mojito was fab though.
Great sevice and well organised. Pity we couldn’t have different menu choices at the same table and had to choose only one. But food was excellent so we will just have to come back to try the others!
Great service and ambience .
Food was delicious - we ordered from Halloumi and the portions were of a decent size . Only slight issue was that food wasn’t hot but we enjoyed it nonetheless .
We ended up getting an hour extension on our time slot which we were delighted about . All in all, a great experience .
The full cooked vegan breakfast is unfortunately very average.
My wife and I both had it, the home cooked baked beans were clearly from a can, the 'bacon' I recognise as Quorn smoked ham, the 'sausages' appeared to resemble birds eye veggie fingers and the toasted sourdough was posted missing, substituted by an oily fried potato scone.
Such a shame as this place is a great idea, but the food is very poor quality and value, and not what is advertised on the menu.
