It is a lovely place for a quiet afternoon tea even on a Saturday.
The service was excellent. However the tea cup I received was stained inside . Apart from that the scone with clotted cream was warm and tasty and the ambiance is excellent. It was a nice visit and I would certainly go again.
Had been looking forward to our visit, however, it was very disappointing. Visited for an afternoon tea using a Groupon voucher.
Cheese and pickle sandwich was made with hard plasticy ready grated cheese completely overwhelmed by the pickle. Chicken Mayo sandwich was very bland. Scones were nice and fresh served with jam and clotted cream. Piece of chocolate cake, cupcake and two macaroons. Tea and coffee were very nice.
Had to ask for plates and knives. No one checked if everything was o.k. Nor were we asked if we needed anything more. Very disappointed as a friend had visited a couple of months earlier on the same Groupon and there was more sandwich choice, mire cakes and macaroons and she had a much better visit.
We went for a girlie afternoon tea. The sandwiches were very tasty, the scones and cream were delicious and the cup cakes were to die for. All in all a very pleasant experience. Definitely worth it
My wife and I were given a groupon voucher for a Luxury afternoon tea as a special surprise gift.
Booking was straight forward with open table website, this I would recommend.
We booked for 13.00 Monday this week, our table was ready, only two other tables were occupied so were seated immediately.
Staff were very courteous and obliging and took our order straight away, on viewing the close vicinity of our table, the table next to us had been recently vacated so was laden with empty pots which were cleared after about 10 minutes and quickly wiped over, leaving a large smear of stale dessert along the edge of the table, possibly not from the last customers judging by the cleaning expertise. Our table had wet rings with crumbs obviously cleaned by the same method.
The after noon tea arrived fairly promptly and looked and tasted delicious, let down by table ware, the two tea pots were ready for scrapheap one looked quite dangerous with a handle cracked at top joint with pot and tea stained, the others spout was largely chipped and again tea stained, both teaspoons had tea stains, I would not expect this from a back street Café.
Considering this is advertised as "Luxury", charging a luxury price, this easily remedied standard falls well below par.
Having said that the quality of food was very good, the ambiance wasn't as expected after seeing the website which shows beautifully lit chandeliers with a Grand piano music, and soft furnishing, which makes it look something really special to accompany the £36 list price, it doesn't really justify even the groupon half price.
