The opening of the new Crocker’s Folly restaurant and bar in St John’s Wood will give London the chance to reacquaint itself with one of its most gorgeous and missed edifices: a beautiful Grade II* listed former Victorian gin palace complete with breathtaking saloon bar that features no less than 50 kinds of marble, along with Romanesque columns, cut glass chandeliers and carved mahogany. The evolution of Crocker’s Folly will see it transformed into a stunning new venue for eating, drinking and socialising.

service a bit slow, but the manager did tell me that as we ordered, he said they were very busy, I always find that excuse a bit pathetic, afterall why would that be a problem, surely as a manger you plan for a busy night

food was great, good portions, fatouse salad excellent we have 4 between 4!!!, choice of menu and drinks was good, the place is just stunning, no atmosphere in the bar which is a shame, but all in all a nice evening

We have been many times. The menu has recently changed and we were able to order a full meal in the bar area which we love and it is less formal and gorgeous with original interiors. Hosts and staff so friendly and gave us desserts on the house even though we didn’t order them.

What a lovely place: a real gem. The staff and food were great, ambience was lovely and the overall experience delightful. For a relatively inexpensive evening I really could not fault it, just praise it. It passes my “would you go back?” test with flying colours.

Crockers Folly - an excellent choice for lovely family catch - up ; a beautiful spacious, airy, elegant yet cosy space with a delightfully relaxed atmosphere where we could hear ourselves speak.
Delicious, generous & very well-presented Lebanese food & exceptionally friendly, helpful & very professional service.
In a quiet street near Little Venice, this is a gem & always a favourite for something special - where we can really relax & spend a lovely, leisurely evening & come away feeling happy.

The coming together of an iconic, well restored building and a respected restaurant chain should result in a great venue. Unfortunately this target is well missed.
The restored building is excellent in every way
The restaurant... hmm. Food is OK but definitely nowhere near as good as the other Maroush retsuarants. There is no welcome bowl of vegetables (or anything else) as one arrives. Perhaps acceptable if the prices were too. But they are at least 50% higher than they should be.
Then the final straw. The restaurant has a bar area as well. During dinner and after some sports event, the place is invaded by a horde of loud, drunken people. This would be reasonably accpetable if they were confined to the bar area. Sadly they are not and take over everywhere. One might as well have gone down to the local and had fish and chips at 1/3 of the price charged here. Fine dining this is not!
Management dont care eithe. Confronted with this issue, they state" we cannot apologize for being busy". Profits speak volumes.
So unless you reall want fair food in a pub at inflated prices, go elesewhere

Enjoyable meal at this converted pub that now houses a Maroush restaurant. Food-wise we knew what we were getting. Good service and and a bit more atmosphere than the usual Maroush experience.

What an amazing venue, tucked in a suburban area just north of the big smoke....
Our guests and I would definitely visit again. Food was on point.
We felt it a lacked a little in the ambience as was a quiet Friday night and a real shame their licence meant we needed to leave at 12 prompt. No illusion as far as their opening hours are concerned, this was quite clear. I just hope they push for a slightly later license, it has the making of a great late night bar/eatery.

We had a wonderful evening catching up with friends and enjoyed the well prepared authentic Lebanese specialities. The service was attentive and engaging without being overbearing. The food was attractively plated and very enjoyable. In particular the kebabs were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The one vegetarian in our group enjoyed the prawns very much and thought that they were exceptionally fresh and perfectly cooked without being at all rubbery. I would very much recommend the venue to family and friends and cannot wait to make a return visit.

A really nice find. Great Lebanese dishes with very good and well informed service. The restaurant itself is a fascinating building and worth the visit just to see it. We enjoyed an extensive mezze and a nice Lebanese wine. It wasn't cheap but was exceptionally good and we would definitely return.

The last time I visited Crocker's Folly was over a year ago. I was very pleasantly surprised, a very accomplished restaurant in a beautiful, historical building not far from my house. I was so pleased that I swore to go back ASAP......but I didn't. Why? well because I love visiting restaurants and am very lucky to have some great ones close to were I live and where I work... lots of different price points and varieties of cuisine. When it comes to spending at the higher ending of the spectrum, I am always swayed by my 'go-to's and the new kids who are getting amazing reviews. Crocker's Folly simply didn't fit into this criteria, so I 'forgot' about it, although I did always recommend to friends who wanted a great local restaurant.

Then... some friends that I hadn't seen for years wanted to meet up in Maida Vale for a special meal. Remembering my experience , I had no hesitation in looking to book at Crocker's Folly again, However things had changed. Although it was always owned by the Maroush group (Lebanese Cuisine) the original menu was modern British. Maroush have now made the restaurant another branch of the Maroush chain. This didn't put me off because they have a great reputation for Lebanese food, and as I have said before, the location is exceptional.

Unfortunately, on the night there was no-one else in the restaurant (Thursday Night) , which at least meant we received exceptional service. The food and wine was great .

Apart from the reasons that I gave above for my own lack of patronage, I don't understand why this place isn't busier. I am very worried that we might loose this gem in Maida Vale / St. Johns Wood. Hopefully, the fantastic bar with outdoor seating will be frequented in the summer at least. I Urge all St. Johns Wood and Maida Vale residents to visit this restaurant in a very special, historical building. I will be doing all I can to support it.

This is an absolutely beautiful venue. Crockers Folly is an old gin palace and was for years a closed and boarded up pub on the curved corner of Aberdeen place opposite a walkway down to the Canal walk from Little Venice to Camden Town. Local activism kept the developers from tearing this marvellous place down and now it has been sensitively refurbished. Old tiles, columns, wood, chandeliers - reminding me of the Warrington Inn nearby.
The food is excellent Lebanese - really delicious with a very good Lebanese house wine too. Attentive but gentle service. And reasonably priced. We took advice and had three starters and two mains and one dessert for the three of us. All devoured. Total including the tip £117. Do go!! Be careful because we could not see the sign - it was not lit - but in the windows a red neon Maroush - the name of the owners I believe. All the tables in our section were occupied but there is also a bar area as you come in and another larger room beyond so spacious.
We asked for the music to be turned down which it was and we could talk and hear easily.

The setting is elegant and relaxing. Bar drinks are prepared to perfection. The Lebanese fare is excellent, in full portion and delicately seasoned. All dishes were served with panache and great care. The wine list could use expansion, however there a few good finds that pair well. For a special night out, this is a great choice. I will be back on my next visit to London!

The dining room was reserved for a private event later that evening so we sat next to the bar. The problem was that it was so cold in the venue despite their radiators being on we all sat in our coats to eat and the food was cold very quickly.
