Saturday & Sunday: 12pm - 8pm
Went just the 2 of us for a catch up, the food was lovely and we didn’t feel rushed at any point despite the restaurant being busy. Have been a couple of times before and never had any complaints.
Excellent food and service. Would definately go again.
All of us had one of the roast and they didn’t disappoint! Every meal we got whether it was starters, mains or dessert was amazing! Will definitely be back
Tastefully decorated and spacious. The food was lovely and fresh and the service was excellent.
Food was good not excellent although the starters were. Waitress Kes was excelllent
Yet another brilliant experience. Would highly recommend
Even though the restaurant was short-staffed on the evening we dined, the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was superb. We had a delay between our starters and main courses but we didn't mind as we were happy to chat - however, we noticed that other customers did complain and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic to them.
The menu wass interesting and varied and all the options sounded so delicious that we had trouble choosing what we wanted! The food was well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious. I couldn't find fault with anything I had.
We will definitely go again.
After booking online and receiving a confirmation I was disappointed to be informed on arrival that there had been a technical issue and it wasn't possible to accommodate us, despite the restaurant being far from full and them having accommodated other people in the same position. I asked the waiter to check with management and was advised that "I had got away with it" and would be served. I quickly pointed out that "they had got away with it, as their error, not mine". The food was decent, however as no one came to clear our plates and ask if we wanted dessert (which we did) we left & won't be returning.
A very warm welcome. Lovely food and service. Our first visit but would go back again.
Second time to the cross guns. Starter cold on arrival. Service typical young girls rather than professional service. Food O. K. But not as well prepared as last time we came. Overall good it not an exceptional experience.
Was disappointed on arrival to find that all the disabled spaces were being used by cars not displaying a blue badge so a warning for those with mobility issues that this venue is not suitable as they may struggle with the overflow car park which is located across the road. The food was only average on this occasion as the chips served with the cheese and onion pie were very hard and difficult to cut. The biggest issue was the noise. I don't know whether it's the building but it was difficult for my friend and I to hold a conversation as everyone seemed to be shouting making it too noisy. Have visited several times since the refurbishment and always been very impressed but unfortunately not on this occasion.
I would like to comment on the excellent and professional service from all of the staff present during our visit on Monday 2nd July. The food was very nicely presented and much enjoyed by our group. I just wanted to add minor feedback on my main course selection (cod and potato) which was a little dry overall and slightly overcooked. Would definitely return however to try more of the dishes.
Food was very good. But the service was very bad. Husband asked twice for a beer and after 30 minutes still didn’t arrive.
Had to send my main course back as the duck was cold.
Need to teach staff not to shout to each other from halfway down the stair case.
Lovely atmosphere and good cheerful service. Need to book because it quickly filled up. This was Friday evening.
Was recommended by other family members and was not disappointed, thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.
Our visit was for Fathers Day & the staff looked after us really well. My father lives just behind the Cross Guns, lived there over 40yrs. He used to frequent the Cross Guns but hadn’t been in for years. He is absolutely delighted with the refurb & described it as ‘magnificent’! He says he will go in now, even on his own for the odd beer; aged 92, he knows now that the staff will be friendly & welcoming. Thank you
Yet again, fanatic food and good date night. Thank you to all the staff, food excellent!!!
Great food. Good service.
Would recommend, never stuck for choice
Plenty if oarking across the eiad.
Recommend booking it does get busy.
Food was fabulous and great value for money considering we all had mains and desserts and alcoholic drinks.
The room we were sat in was well decorated and, at first, was empty.
The only thing I'd pick at was they sat a family with a screaming baby behind us even though the room we was in was empty and they could have put them anywhere.
Not their fault for a screaming baby, but maybe next time look at the clientele you already have to see if they have kids or not.
But overall fantastic service, fantastic food, enthusiastic staff. Was great.
Having visited the Cross Guns before it was an easy choice to make for a catch up with a friend. Having recently (past 12 months) undergone a refurbishment, it is certainly a destination restaurant for local people and those from further afield.
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, they are attentive but not intrusive.
The menu is good with a selection of Appetisers, Starters, Mains - both wholesome and healthy options!, Desserts are good, although I have only managed one once due to the portion size of the starters and mains.
Having dined on Friday night I was expecting it to be very busy, however, I was surprised to say, despite having a large party dining upstairs the ambiance of the restaurant remained pleasant which facilitated a conversation without having to shout. The staff managed expectations about the large party and being busy, this was certainly not necessary as service was still very good.
As a local, it is good to find a nice restaurant with good food at reasonable prices.
Very nice atmosphere , lovely friendly staff . We had small problem with the quality of a steak but the Managef was extremely accommodating . Would recommend
As usual the food was really excellent with a good choice and excellent service. Perhaps a little early for us to go as there were lots of families with children, but it shows how popular the restaurant is. Never disappointed.
Absolutely wonderful. Staff very friendly well recommended. Food fantastic
Clean and pleasant pub with friendly quick service.
This was my first visit since the pub reopened and was refurbished. When I lived in Bolton, decades ago, the Cross Guns was "a dive" and I was warned not to frequent it! It us now a beautiful place with great food and friendly staff. I highly recommend it.
The food was really lovely, good choice of fish on menu, no specials board though! It was unfortunate the gentleman sat behind us liked the sound of his own voice and was exceptionally loud! He left eventually and the quality of the experience improved significantly! Alcohol is expensive and food is defitinely pricey for good pub food! However it was very tasty and although the portions don’t seem huge, we left feeling full. The place has been tastefully done up and we would visit again!
Nice atmosphere very nice and friendly staff, the food was ok but not exceptional it was better last time around 2 months ago, maybe it was what I chose we will probably go choose to visit again in the future as it was a nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Lovely food and service , only complaint would be the vegetarian moussaka was very small with a small salad and wasn’t worth the price . Great selection of gin!
Lovely bar and restuarant but felt that the food let it down. Arrived starving and ordered Cheese and onion potato pie. The pie was ok but the chips were very hard as though they had been prepared and then re-fried a couple of times. A shame as we had such high expectations but sadly it didn't live up to them.
Excellent restaurant - we arrived early but were seated immediately. I am coeliac and the menu had already been marked with the dishes I could eat and what changes they could make to dishes that were not immediately available to me. The food was the best I have had eating out in a long time and I will definitely be going again - I had the chargrilled chicken, bacon and avocado salad and black forest sorbet, my friend had the grilled Mediterranean vegetables speciality sandwich and raspberry almond tart, all delicious.
We had a lovely evening celebrating my Daughters Birthday, the atmosphere and Decor was first class, and the service was brilliant, the food was just outstanding, can’t wait to go back.
We really enjoyed the main meal cooked perfect but just one thing the food was lukewarm, our sweet was just delicious and hot. We will go again looking forwards to it. 👍😀
First class service and the food was of the highest standard, in terms of presentation excellent and taste outstanding. Great find, We enjoyed it smooch on our break that 4 of us are going again this evening.
First time visit for a lunch and was very pleased with the ambience and quality of food. Good pub food done well. Will return for dinner
Our first visit here. Recent refurbishment completed to a high standard, providing a pleasant environment. Fillet steak and Cumberland sausage main courses were good, steak ordered medium, I thought it well done but very tasty. Deserts were excellent , I really enjoyed the Pear & Ginger Crumble & Custard. My partner said the Spiced Apple Cake was the best desert she had ever eaten, high praise as she is always tempted by the desert menu. House wine lacking in quality. Friendly staff provided great service. We will definitely be going back.
Excellent value, tables well spaced, good service, nice atmosphere
Great setting. Excellent renovation. Very friendly service. Starters were excellent, choice and standard of puds Amazing. Mains very good but perhaps a little prosaic and not as exciting as before and after.
They should offer a daily special for that little bit of something extra to sample that is different every time they visit.
Otherwise, high quality food. Will definitely go agsin.
Enjoyed our evening in the Cross Guns. Great service and food.
Tried this for the first time in years as we lived in the area years ago,the pub/restaurant has been refurbished beautifully and suits this area perfectly, most notable we found the staff friendly and vary attentive, and called at our table to ask if our food which was great was ok, you don’t get this very often. The place is very cosy too, I believe the Cross Guns has only recently reopened after the refurb, Good Luck we really enjoyed our visit!
Exceptional service from Kerry and the team as always, food v good thank you, wider choice of desserts would be even better.
