We enjoyed the atmosphere in both the bar and restaurant after our arrival. The restaurant has been refurbished tastefully and to a high standard.
Our order was taken fairly promptly and our drinks arrived soon after. Unfortunately the wine we’d ordered was placed on the table unopened and we were left to help ourselves. The tap water we’d ordered did not arrive until we had reminded the house manager which was after we had eaten our starters, which were really good.
The main courses were very disappointing. My gammon was well overcooked and it seemed that it had been kept warm for a period- very dry.

We really enjoyed it. We ordered our food and the manager came to explain that a large party had arrived a late and he apologised for us waiting longer than usual. We maybe waited a little longer than normal but following the explanation we were prepared and didn't mind at all.

We arrived and were told that they couldnt connect to your system so they hadn't booked a table for us. We waited for over 1 and a half hours for our food to arrive. Not happy.

The refurbishment has been a real success. Our first visit was last Saturday. We were really impressed with the quality and value of the food, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff and the really nice restaurant atmosphere. We will certainly be returning.

4 of us ate at the Cross Guns on Saturday night. It was a nice change from the terrible service before the new takeover.
We all enjoyed our food.
The only complaint is that even though the manager was present and the service was good there still wasn’t the organisation that is expected. We were brought the wrong drinks and the wrong desserts but all in all much better than previously

Food and service excellent, some external noise from the current roadworks, but not unduly bothersome and will have gone soon

Excellent food of high standard and fantastic service from our waitress Chelsea. The restaurant has recently changed hands and there is a new menu. We had a great night and will definitively be going back.

There has been a new menu and some refurbishment since our last visit.
I like the new menu although I think that there should be a Sunday version available.
The glass firedoor in the restaurant has been boxed in to some extent with massive posts and what look like railway sleepers. This has greatly reduced the natural light, which is a great shame.
Nevertheless, its a lovely place for a meal and well worth a look.

Went to the opening night of the new tapas menu .... excellent service and range of tapas choices.... other food also available on the menu.
Spanish/ salsa music enhanced the Spanish feel. Now need to try the sangria!
Good value as they had a special offer on number of dishes for £16 or £25 dwpendingi;how many you ordered. We had beef stew, Patatas bravas, Gambas pil pil, paella, meatballs, selection of bread, salad, and small salad..... all very tasty.
Great service by waitress Chelsea !
We will be back.
May need to book as very popular on first night.
Well done team, a very successful opening night.

Poor choice of food menu since our last visit , was expecting restaurant quality food , was nothing more than pub food , bought a nice bottle of red wine and it was just opened and left on the table , didnt even ask if we would like to try it !! Left very disappointed considering it was an anniversary meal .

We have been to the Cross Guns on several occasions and enjoyed the food however on arrival we found they had changed the menus without informing us. I had told my guests to look at the menu beforehand to make sure it suited them. Unfortunately the food they were looking forward to wasn’t available. When questioned re this we were told that the restaurant was changing to a tapas and Was closing in three weeks time for this change to take place. Why then did they change the menu.
Will not get anymore business from us.

It is a beautiful restaurant and perfect for a special occasion. The staff are lovely and professional. There is disabled parking at the side and a ramp if required and a separate car park across the road.

Excellent food in comfortable and relaxed surroundings. Meals were plentiful and cooked to perfection. Waitress service was prompt and efficient and delivered with humour. The drinks were equally as nice and the bar staff equally affable. Our evening was perfectly finished off with a live singer who was also top drawer well done cross guns what an amazing evening!

I had been looking forward to having a meal at the Cross Guns. But was quite disappointed! Food was very average, quite expensive for what you received. Had to wait a while for service & drinks. Asked for water but it never arrived. Was too late after finishing meal to ask again. Shame because the restaurant & bar are very nicely decorated. Thank you

Always enjoy dining here. The only drawback is the very young and inexperienced staff. I had to physically go and ask for sauces for the main course. They should have been offered at the time of serving. Also, there was no cranberry available.
The young girl who took the bill did not know how to use the card machine and another member of staff had to intervene. There was no acknowledgement that I had paid a tip. Its a shame because otherwise I'd rate the place very highly.

The food was excellent and so was the service. The almond and raspberry pie was particularly special. It was Easter Saturday and a beautiful day so the restaurant was a little quiet probably everyone was enjoying food at home. I highly recommend this Inn .

Lovely decor and table settings. Given a sheet of paper which was a Set ‘Sunday menu’ of either 1, 2 or 3 course. Thankfully my children can eat an adult size portion and aren’t fussy eaters as no other menu was offered. Poor and slow service from inexperienced staff. The young waitress did not know what beers were available so ended up with 2 waitresses at the table, 1 to tell us the availability, the other to write the order. Food order was more complicated than needed to be but the food itself was delicious! Mushroom starter was tasty and just enough. The lamb dinner was superb, Roast potatoes were amazingly tasty. The gammon was huge and tasty and desserts were scrumptious. The bill was just under £110 for 1, 3 course, 2, 2 courses, 1 main and 2 rounds of drinks each (lager/wine/coke) I’d visit again for the roast potatoes alone

Myself & my boyfriend booked a table for a date night, the friendly barmen poured us our drinks then took us through to our table.
The decor was beautiful - I’d heard that the restaurant had been redecorated which prompted my reservation here. The gentle music playing in the background really complimented the relaxed vibe of the dining room, along with the fairy lights & candles.
The food was gorgeous - both myself & my boyfriend were really impressed with what we ordered.
The only criticism was that the service was a little slow considering it was quite quiet.
I would definitely recommend & come back again!

I took my Husband for his 50th Birthday on Sunday 1st disappointment was restricted Sunday Menu which wasn't shown when I booked on line, if I had known we wouldn't have come as my husband is not a big meat eater so choice even more limited. He and my son had fish and chips they said it was the worst fish and chips they had ever had - they said it tasted like it had been reheated and it was all batter tiny fish chips some burn't some hard. I had the lamb sunday roast was told the Lamb would be pink it wasn't it was pale brown, the rest of my Sunday lunch was lovely. I did complain to the waiter no one came over and just brought us the bill, so I had to mention it again when I was paying and they refunded one of the fish and chips they were both poor with no apology - overall bit of a let down.

We booked a table for 7.30pm on a Friday evening which we felt was a time when the whole menu advertised should have been available. There was no creme brûlée left for dessert. Three of us ordered cod for the main meal. The chef sent a message to say that when he brought out the cod from the fridge he said it wasn’t fresh enough to cook and serve. We were very pleased for his attention to the matter but were disappointed nevertheless.
It was a bit of a let down because we were dining with my brother and his wife who were visiting us for the first time in 12years.
It was our first visit to the Cross Guns since its refurbishment. The dining room was not very busy and I was wondering whether other diners had had similar experience.
