Food was fantastic
Excellent service ... food was tremendous; great addition to the downtown scene
The wines by the glass were a little disappointing in our view. That said, the food was outstanding as was the service. The space with its vaulted ceilings make for a beautiful dining experience.
I love CS. This was my 2nd visit, and was lucky to sit near the open kitchen so I could see all the action. “Oui!”
Complimentary house bread was good and so was the puffed bread with white bean hummus and Gruyère fritters. Chicken main course was juicy and tender with crispy skin. Cheesecake was good. Great wine choices.
Great food and atmosphere, the deserts in particular were amazing
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and Crown Shy was the perfect place to celebrate! The space is beautiful and the service was perfect. Our server was great at helping us select the perfect cocktails and dishes. We had a few small dishes which were delicious and then we shared the chicken for our entree. It was so moist and flavorful!! For dessert we were unsure about the sticky caramel but our waiter convinced us and it did not disappoint. The perfect ending to a perfect meal.
We can’t wait to go back and sit near the open kitchen and watch all the action!
Food is good and service was fine. I did prefer the energy of the bar though
Service was excellent David made a great wine recommendation. Incredible. The whole staff mad my wife feel special for her bday. It was a great experience. Will be back soon
Our wait staff was great but service lacked in a number of areas (bartender gave our drinks to somebody else while we were waiting for our table, serving staff spilled drinks on us and our table but we were still charged for drinks, etc.).
Food was overall good but not sure its a fair value proposition.
Best restaurant I’ve been to NYC in a while.
All I can say is WOW! Chef Kent has done it again, this time in his own location. Everything was perfection from the moment we walked in the door till the moment we left! One of the best meals of my life, in a stunning, mellow space with with amazing vibes and unpretentious, top-notch service. Favorites for our group included the olive bread, cauliflower, gruyere fritters, tomato and peach with feta, charred carrots, caramelle, short rib and satsuma orange ice cream. Every cocktail we tried was a hit. To top it off, we expected the bill to be much higher given the caliber of our experience. Very fairly priced; would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you to Chef Kent, Jared, and all the staff who made my birthday dinner one I’ll always remember. We can’t wait to return for another amazing experience!
Service is mediocre (our server didnt even bother to stop by and explain any of the food served) food was okay and noise coming from the bar area was load.
Absolutely lovely! To our server who sadly had a boot on his foot- you rock. Hope your foot heals! Best date night.
Was pretty great! I went there for dinner and again for lunch. Gracie the host is pretty awesome and the food there is beyond delicious! Can’t wait to go back already
Really fantastic service all around. Food is great but portions are small, especially the short ribs. Ordered 8 dishes and two dessert for 4 people. Had a slice of pizza on the way home.
So good! Everything was so delicious. Amazing experience. And quite a nice space
Overall food was good, pasta main was a bit bland. Prices were a bit high. Great service and attention to detail.
Can't wait to go back! Every dish was really excellent.
Espectacular!! El mejor restaurante en Nueva York!!
The bar team is always absolutely on point. Warm, welcoming, great with names. Thank you Brian & Chris!
A truly inspiring and thrilling experience, from the food to the atmosphere to excellent service by people like Victor and other waitstaff, Crown Shy is an original. And a new favorite. Can't wait for the next time.
Great food and service make sure to have your wallets ready. Besides that come here and eat!!!
Great carrots and short rib
Fantastic dinner. No better way to come back from a month abroad than to sit down in a sublime setting with a table of masterfully prepared nouveau American cuisine.
A perfectly wonderful evening, from the unusual cocktails to the pull-apart bread to the food in general and ending with divine desserts. I wish it were a bit quieter, but that's the only criticism. We'll be back!
Once again, simply The Best of 2019 !
Delicious cuisine and friendly and attentive service make Crown Shy a very welcome addition to the NYC dining scene! Everything is great especially the Short Rib for two and the Satsuma Orange Ice Cream with Toasted Marshmallow and Honey!
I’ll be spending a lot more time in the Financial District now that The Crown Shy is open for business. I started at the very elegant, very lively bar with a fabulous tequila cocktail made with Rhubarb. From there I moved to a table that looked right into the open kitchen where I enjoyed watching the construction of gorgeous dish after gorgeous dish. The menu is ample but not overwhelming with lots of variety in the snacks and appetizer section. The mains lean more into meats than fish. My own meal started with crudo and hummus- both absolutely delicious, followed by charred octopus which was perfection. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Located in an old Deco building on Pine Street, the decor is minimalist/modern. The feel is somewhere between casual and elegant. Overall it’s comfortable but at the same time buzzy. I will definitely be back for more.
One of the best meals we have had in New York in the last several years.
Food was superb.
Cena de cumpleaños
Best experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. Can’t wait to go back
Crown Shy is fantastic! A large space but not too noisy and a bustling bar off to the side. Our meal was just great and the servers were cordial, warm and professional. Starter oysters with jellies cucumber were fresh and just yummy. i am gluten free and the GF toast was both crunchy and tender with tasty labneh. My husband said the pull-apart olive bread was delicious and enough to get him back on carbs for good. Broccoli salad was novel and tasty with pea shoots, cheddar, mint and a light dressing. Romaine with green goddess was so good you’d have it as an afternoon snack. Cauliflower was coated in rice flour, fried and served with a cherry reduction and parm-complex flavors that were a perfect sweet/savory combo. Short ribs were cooked perfectly-cut with a fork, no fatty globules but mouth watering with a potato spuma, chimmichurri and quinoa that our server suggested made a perfect bite with a little of each. I agree! Satsuma orange ice cream with meringue was light and delicately flavorful with perfect texture. Banana ice cream also had perfect texture and came with crunchy and delicious popcorn and peanuts AND the pineapple Pavlova was masterful. Can you tell we loved it! We live in the building and it will be hard to head anywhere else when we’re not cooking. Can’t wait to bring friends and family. Well done, Chef and crew!!!
Excelente lugar, buen ambiente, deliciosa comida.
Absolutely outstanding on all accounts.
Perfect for any occasion.
Great experience. Food and service were on point.
I came for a visit from out of town and Crown Shy was the one restaurant I had to make sure to try. We were not disappointed and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was amazing especially the gruyere fritters.
Great atmosphere with high ceilings and an open kitchen that produces delicious food. I would recommend ordering +3 dishes than the number of people (e.g. 7+ dishes for 4 people). The only negative thing I would say is that the atmosphere was a bit chaotic at times with many waiters/waitresses concentrated in certain areas of the restaurant.
